The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Theraclone Sciences said today they have jointly launched OncoResponse, an immuno-oncology antibody discovery company, with $9.5 million in series A financing.

OncoResponse will apply Theraclone’s I-STAR™ immune repertoire screening technology to identify therapeutic antibodies against new targets from immuno-oncology treated patients. I-STAR technology is designed to rapidly screen antibodies made by the human immune system, and identify those with exceptional reactivity that may lead to cancer treatment development.

MD Anderson said it will provide access to samples and physiologic, prognostic and genotypic data from patients that have responded well to cancer immunotherapies, along with oncology and translational medicine expertise.

“The immune system of patients who have responded exceptionally well to cancer immunotherapies may hold the key within their memory repertoire as to what gives them an edge over other patients with less robust immune responses. It could provide us with a way to increase success rates in treating cancer,” Clifford J. Stocks, CEO of Theraclone and interim CEO of OncoResponse, said in a statement.

  • I would suggest that if you're starting in a place like MD Anderson and Yale to a degree that this thing looks pretty good...Noting HR comments of it's very long immune response and little side effects

MD Anderson and and Yale should point right to the benefits ... or those that will benefit.

    I'm pretty jazzed about this

I could see ... $300-$500 mil up front based on what others have gotten and many of those were in early labs

    Still early .

The results will be known every quickly and should ride the same throughout the process... Could see an Orphan status

It's either ON/OFF ... this is what you can describe as Binary.

** It will be quickly partnered
** Cash infusion .. Start $$ for the stalled pipeline

HR made as good a deal as you can that's the way I see it. ...he could flip it in 2020 if need be.

As I stated before loads of cash are on the sidelines but in this time it is a little easier to get good / better deals than a few years ago ( Government printing loads and loads free money) ... and it always best to do the deal long before sweat shows up on your brow.

Some notes ...maybe you care made not
** Side lined Pharma / Biotech R&D cash .LOW.est $1 Trillion place to put it on top of the government has everyone freaked cuz they are targets of bigger government.

** Side lined IT money LOW est $2 Trillion (global cash) place to put it on top of the government has everyone freaked cuz they are targets of bigger government.

** Side lined U.S economy est $6 Trillion (global cash) place to put it on top of the government has everyone freaked ... I have spent

** Underground Econ (Loss of any taxes) ... some say easily over $1T .. See the Greeks for the perfect example of what happens when a Bernie Sanders comes to town... 90% tax he says

** Global Cash / asset buying .. no safe haven either they'd like to spend it here .. but wonder about the election

All this is alias for the Democrats must have a villain even if they sent more than anyone ever imagined it still will never be enough just ask them...The liberal chant is government (Cash is like Crack to the Dem's) need to crush the corporate America for their pillaging of the poor ... The funny flip side is the feds just can can't figure out why folk just won't spend and the evil empires (corporation) won't invest.... super easy analysis of all of this just look no farther than the tip of the spear.... it is true that people are sheep and the herds have stopped moving

Cause and effects of Obama's (Mr Consternation) "change" or utopia to some ...what a crap load of !!!

Just MAYBE the silent majority awakes and tosses the liberal bureaucrats and their brothers in the other party

Well he didn't get the $250 saying the things look bleak .... that just don't happen

Looks to me Nektar got a sweetheart deal ... and that says a lot about where WS thinks Nektar is going.

*** As I stated copious times the "pending doom of debt" and "Cash Crunch" would be a non issue.

*** Nektar seems to say ..we are fine and will continue to go it alone is coming

Why it's like a program is running to keep things in check

  • Way too much time spent on one shoe fits all trials design and or the possibility of doing it over if your trial (FDA approved by resident experts) doesn't hit the established shoehorned data points, I believe those days are long gone and the evidence is here to justify to the FDA the being flexible with outcomes will lead to more successes and not fewer.

As I stated there is a huge uptick in ultra fast sequencing equipment and you can plainly see it in the news and the FDA just does kill off cancer drugs like they use too..unless it was poorly run.

Irinotecan works in some patients ..that data is clear

** China ramping up to cover the world is toxic cheap Irinotecan why ?? ** Cause it works if you can stand the side effects

    That is all

My opinion NKTR 102 has a way forward

102 came in slightly better that the "Physician's Choice" .. hence it always the problem with the combo's and human DNA ... MBC has 400 gene variation that's why there will never be one drug....subset, subset of subset

  • corona_and_a_cigar by corona_and_a_cigar Oct 5, 2015 9:36 AM Flag

Nektar has delivered a better Irinotecan that's what the FDA has wanted since Irinotecan was released ... all this was negotiated with in the FDA as with any drug..

FDA will agree to approve 102 under a rolling submission ..JMO

    The neverending Beacon trial

First off you never put patients at risk nor their path to a better treatment and if it works you're not yanked from the trial because this "OS" theory was not a huge number, remember that Nektar has a provision to provide "maintain" to those where 102 works ... hence the magic word here is ... it works .... biomarkers were plugged in .... the trial continues... the reason is ??? ... PASS/FAIL ??

I've repeated that the FDA (the Oncologist) wants and needs 102 ... the old irinotecan has a large dropout rate because it's toxic .. and 102 did just as good as the standard "approved" care.

    Too much "paralysis through analysis"

Also note that China plans to make massive amount of dirt cheap Irinotecan why .... cause it works and it's worth about $1.5 B per yr.

Cancer is all about the smaller subsets "Biomarkers" .. equals Where does my drug work the days of one drug works for every person is WS speak!

I've been an IT professional for more than 30 years it's one of my hats I took early on for a major corp / bio /pharma when IT really didn't exist I've have been involved in all realms of security/build-outs in IT for government and corporate life I’ve been all through all the rules on handling secure data on both sides and all of funding obstacles when excepting Gov money .... I can assure everyone that what Hillary has done is illegal and will be prosecuted..she must be ... on the flip side if she was part of a corporation on a high level she would be fired immediately her house would be searched and lawsuits would be filed ... so whatever you believe she a criminal on either side ...
Just know that if the JD dept does not release the info someone within the dept will leak it … it always happens.. and the FBI wants it integrity kept so they will do the same if the crooks or Obama cronies delay it to much longer …. The drip, drip, drip

Glad many of you now realize that your stuff (assets) are not really yours.... I heard that you are SO NOT deserving and that you pillaged from the weak and the poor and purely you reek of ill gotten gains from what they describe on top of you're just mean spirited because YOU found a way foward ... I'm still waiting on the list (McCarthyism) of those that pummeled the poor I expect to be one it along with my wife and children ... But not expecting Hillary to make the list which seems weird right so how does she do that anyway?

    We call that MPD.

  • This is the fly in the ointment

Google: Gene test finds which breast cancer patients can skip chemo

"There is really no chance that chemotherapy could make that number better," he said. Using the gene test "lets us focus our chemotherapy more on the higher risk patients who do benefit" and spare others the ordeal.

The study was sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. Results were published online Monday by the New England Journal of Medicine and discussed at the European Cancer Congress in Vienna.

Of the 10,253 women in the study, 16 percent were classified as low risk, 67 percent as intermediate and 17 percent as high risk for recurrence by the test. The high-risk group was given chemotherapy and hormone-blocking drugs. Women in the middle group were randomly assigned to get hormone therapy alone or to add chemo. Results on these groups are not yet ready - the study is continuing.

That's the news ... Nothing Nektar has done

  • Remember the FDA can do pretty much do anything at any time without any over site of all drugs

They could declare a shortage and allow others to manufacture it .... they can do anything they can make it very hard for Mr. Shkreli

Martin Shkreli is stupid as we've all seen ....

Society always corrects and takes out stupid people
