Don't look for a pre-announcement no matter what. VMEM has already shown that they NEVER pre-announce. IF they were so inclined they definitely would have pre-announced last quarter before their disaster.
I'm strongly considering nibbling back in here.

    r1t2003, you state:
"The script # were actually a disappointment if you'll look closely.
Over the last two weeks Qsymia scripts were up 3.65%.
Divide that by 2 and Qsymia averages a 1.82% w/w gain"
Well, what's wrong with even a 1.82% gain for consecutive weeks?!
If that kept up, it would mean about a 100% gain EVERY YEAR!
THAT would be enormous for VVUS.

I see ALL of the Directors just GAVE themselves 112,000 stock options, free of charge, at an exercise price of $2.71 and it all totally vests in just one year.
THAT should get any shareholder pretty upset.
Why have they earned such windfalls at the expense of real shareholders?!
They have no real risk only potential gain on those gifted shares and at the expense of dilution to shareholders.
If they earned it with great leadership, no problem. But did they? Doesn't look like it!
THAT is one of the things that is wrong with capitalism in this country.
The CLUB members at the top are GREEDY!

" Q2 revenue about $35M and operate cash break even"
    You're kidding us, right?
You're hallucinating if you truly believe they're going to do anything near $35 million!
With DeNuccio's now proven track record with guidance, if he says 16 - 20 million it is NOT
going to be more than 16 - 20 million!
I trusted him twice and got BURNED!
Now I'm on the sidelines until the company proves they can grow.

  • Why is a crashing stock, a company potentially going bankrupt, and tons of employees losing jobs
an "lol" from you? You really find all that funny?

I really don't know what to say. That report was a real shocker. That was so bad that it has me strongly considering giving up on this company. Apparently IBM, EMC etc have a strategy to undercut VMEM on price even if they lose money and the strategy is working.
The conference call sounded like a wake, it really did. They cut off the questions after only 2 analysts.
    Not good.
Totally flabergasted at this "mistake" I've apparently made.
Maybe the company will eventually get sold at even $5 but don't know if I want to sit around in dead money.
Very surprised the company did not pre-announce such a huge miss.
Truly sorry to all for my horrendously wrong predictions.
Don't think anyone could have foreseen the magnitude of this disaster.
And still, maybe the company really will wind up going gangbusters eventually, and I do believe they will.
One last piece of advice, to myself included, I wouldn't dump shares into a panic selloff tomorrow.

I'll be really surprised if they don't meet the lower end of their own guidance of 21 - 24 million.
I think DeNuccio knew that 21 million was the minimum they would get.

  • 21.5 million in sales and -.20 non GAAP earnings.
So, that's what we need to beat; especially need to beat the 21.5 figure.
I'm hoping for at least 23 million in sales.
    The earnings is less crucial.
Investors NEED to see sales ramping up.
And forward guidance needs to be UP; like 23 - 26 million, at least, for the current quarter they're in.
If this report comes in below 21 million I will be unhappy and the stock will likely go down UNLESS the forward guidance is really strong.

  • Last quarter the stock ran way up right before report and it was bad. So the opposite could happen this time. Maybe, maybe not.

Personally, I don't think we can read too much into this change. Basically it is changing the definition from 51% change in board members to 35%. Doesn't seem too significant to me. I think it's just a necessary technical issue since the board makeup changed since the original loan agreement due to Basile getting canned and DeNuccio coming on the board, with one or two other new board members.

Violin Memory has signed Sapply as a New Zealand distributor, with promises the partnership will provide local resellers with a framework to maximize sales and increase market penetration.

Gordon Taylor, Sapply director, says Violin Memory is ‘highly complementary’ to the distributor’s existing solutions portfolio.

“They offer unique flash storage capabilities that strike a balance between performance, reliability and affordability that, today, cannot be found elsewhere,” he says.

“The demand for flash storage in ANZ is growing rapidly and our goal is to provide our customers with a one-stop shop to meet their data storage needs from the ground up.”

He says the company is looking for ‘very high growth’ in the New Zealand market.

Post your guess for Tuesday's revenue number

  • I say 23 million

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Yes, just one man's guess.
1st quarter 2016 guidance, from management, was for 21 to 24 million in revenue, up from 4th quarter's 20 million. They stated that they were being conservative and giving a wider range because the transition phase to the new Flash Storage Platform "might" have one more quarter (this 1st quarter report) to kick in.

Therefore, I am guessing that revenue will come in at 23 million. 21 million was a lowball number and management dis not want to get burned again with an embarrassing miss.
Also, the transition to flash IS definitely kicking in bigtime. That plus should counteract the minus of VMEM's personal transition phase (can't be helped).
23 million will be above the midrange of guidance and therefore should not cause a stock tank job.
21 million or worse will likely cause a declining stock.
Above 23 million will cause a nice bounce.
IF we get lucky enough to see 24 million or better, that will get us to $5 near-term.

Actual earnings will be right in line no matter what, which is a non GAAP loss of about .18 and .01 better than last quarter. .17 or loss or better will also cause a nice bounce.
.17 non GAAP loss or better AND 24 million in sales or better, together, and $5 is in the bag.

2nd quarter guidance should be around 23 - 27 million in sales and - .15 non GAAP loss.
We're getting there, I think and hope.
The Flash Storage Platform products I truly believe are outstanding. No reason for VMEM not to grow very nicely from now on.

Summary best guess for this upcoming report:
23 million in sales and - .18 non GAAP loss.
    Hoping for 24 million and - .17.

STRONG BUY under $4 no matter what.
