He runs around the GM board as well. Can't remember if he is a pro UAW guy, Pro Gm or the complete opposite.
Might want to pay attention to what GM is doing, they are going all out on an affordable EV.
In a somewhat unusual move for an automaker, GM divulged this week it is far along the curve toward li-ion batteries cheap enough to sell its reasonably priced Bolt at a profit.
Entering 2016 GM said its cells cost $145 per kilowatt-hour, and by late 2021, they could be at the $100 mark.
Without actually naming Tesla or other competitors expected this decade and next, GM has otherwise put the industry on notice it will not be second-rate in the electrified vehicle market.
An estimated price for what cells cost for the Chevy Volt was upwards of $400-$500 per kilowatt-hour a few years ago, but today, GM is as low as one-third that for its pending Bolt EV, and expects further declines.
The occasion of the revelation was its Global Business Conference, an annual financial meeting in Michigan where GM was laying out its case for its investment potential as a company to analysts.
To get the cells to a fully assembled pack a car can use will require a container along with cabling and circuit boards for monitoring the cells, along with possibly cooling/heating support. Unknown are GM’s assembled pack cost estimates, but its cell costs are very low and it is looking to pare costs throughout where it can.

Sentiment: Strong Sell
Just like a drug stock, one by one the real picture starts to show and it's never as rosy as what was predicted.
I thought one of the selling points of a Tesla was less moving parts which meant almost no maintenance or break downs?
ROTFLOL. Still a car folks, not an easy thing to build. GM knows how to make a door handle that works for decades and trunk latches as well. Tesla doesn't seem to have the basics down yet. Always true with niche car makers.
While I'm at it, what is considered hot in the poor person world? I say that since I just saw some new Accords and thought they were nice looking. I have been seeing a bunch of Crosstrek's looks like Subaru has a hit on it's hands. I believe Corollas out sell everything volume wise?
Went and looked that up and yes if you get into the V-6 model accords I guess they do go into the $30's. Not the kind of car I drive but at least I understand about what they cost. 34K Accord is for the ballers. LOL. $27 will get you the EX which is their optioned up Accord with a decent 4 cylinder.
35K? LOL. Not what they analist are thinking and so far Elong has been under on all his estimated prices.
$60,000 isn't a mass market car. Toyota Corolla at $20K, that's a mass market car. Honda Accord starting at $22k decked out at $27K that's a mas market family car.
Think the Wall Street crowd is too Jaded to know what is affordable to the masses.
Musk is not going to pull this off.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
GM can do an EV and it seems they can deliver one under $40K with a 200 mile range.
If GM can actually sell them the other big guys will be selling them also. The Leaf has upped it's range and already has a driving platform. I don't think the bulls really understand the EV industry.
I still don't see EV's selling in high numbers no matter what. Niche car.
I'm back from a trip and seems Tesla's stock price has gone into a short squeeze frenzy?
Looks like the followers are headed for the plane, not going for the Kool-Aid?
This is still my best theory. Lead paint was taken off the market so the government could use FLIR and other eaves dropping devices to spy on their own people. Lead paint stops all that. Lead paint and leaded window glass are the best way to stop the spying.
Not that interesting.
I give it a glance but don't say much usually. This stock doesn't move enough for me now or any time in the near future. Dividend covered call people pay attention to GM but it's not really a traders stock.
Tesla is the hot one right now in the auto space.
Tsla is not going to hold that price or at least I don't think it will. I'm in short a few minutes ago. Hopefully I'm not covering today. LOL. Had calls and puts on it as well. Dumped the calls so I have some money to play with.
Ya crazy start. We will see what happens here.
If nothing else this is an exciting stock to trade. LOL. 5 million shares traded already today. Tesla is up around upper resistance, not over sold any more, excessive money flow,
