It cost about 5 billion dollars to purchase back 50 million shares of GILD Stock. There is outstanding some 1billion and 647 million shares. Please advise me how much in cents does it increase the net profit. Is it a penny, a nickel?

it appears to me that substantial billions are needed to bring about a substantial effect to the bottom line. Is there a better more effective way to utilize the billions of cash flow? Would appreciate some comment. Thanks..
