Since when did Dershowitz get to see all the evidence! He, like the rest of us, will just have to wait and let the justice system play out. The cops tried to make Freddie Gray look guilty because he had a rap sheet. Everyone knows the cops will get their day in court. If they are innocent, I expect they will be cleared. Interesting that cops don't have faith in the justice system. Sad commentary.

  • Not much except possible pipeline potential. I believe they had a $33 price target.

Nobody deserves to be killed for no reason. He had a penknife and should not even have been arrested. Just because he has a long rap sheet doesn't give rogue police the right to kill him. I don't think Gray was ever accused of killing anyone, but some of these cops appear to have killed him for no reason other than because they felt he was a slime ball. Well, hey, it looks like their actions put them in the same class or worse. If a cop can't deal with difficult people as a professional, then he/she shouldn't be cops. They had him shackled and they had no reason to give him a rough ride which appears to have killed him. Now that it appears that justice may be coming, Baltimore has settled down. All police should have body cams to protect them from false charges and to protect citizens from being mistreated.

  • Now that it appears the 6 indicted cops acted highly improperly if not criminally, all the bigots on this board try to condemn minorities because of high crime statistics in urban neighborhoods. It is true that poor neighborhoods tend to have higher crime rates, but, but that doesn't mean cops can act like criminals in those neighborhoods. I workout at my gym with a retired corrections officer. He said he got along well with the inmates because he always treated them decently. He told me that he hated the fact that some officers treated them poorly just because they could get away with it. This may not actually be a racial thing because some of the 6 cops could be black, but it certainly appears to be a case where these officers showed a great indifference to Freddie Gray's well being if they didn't kill him outright. If convicted, I expect they will get a "rough ride" while serving their prison terms. I hope justice prevails. I guess that makes me a socialist, leftist, extremist like just about everyone else who has a different take on things than the Tea Party Putin Fan Club.

Interesting that the actions of rogue cops led to the death of a man who reportedly had done nothing to be arrested for. The misdeeds of these cops incited people and riots and looting occurred. If cops are to be angry with anyone, they should be angry with the 6 indicted officers whose actions diminished the image of cops in general and led to a dangerous situation that caused many good cops, business owners, and innocent citizens to suffer. Hopefully, the justice system will sort through all the facts and punish everyone, bad cops, looters, socialists, Marxists, etc. The last two groups were added to appease the tea party types.

  • If they did nothing wrong then they have nothing to worry about. However, reasonable people have very serious questions about their handling of Freddie Gray. Their story doesn't add up and defies reason and medical possibilities. The cops didn't know security cameras were filming some of their actions, and that will seal their fate. If they are found guilty, they should have an interesting time in jail with their fellow inmates.

facts, this case and a number of others are clear cases where very unusual events happened, and it appears unnecessary force was used resulting in a person's death. Body cameras protect all civilians and all the police from false charges. Putting tracking devices on illegals is a novel idea. Then the government could arrest all the people who knowingly hire them to cut their lawns, roof their houses, pave their driveways, care for their kids and elderly, etc. You might have a good idea there.

I added a few hundred shares. When Novartis picks its first drug to co-develop with BLRX, I expect the stock will pop a buck on the news.

    Bernie Sanders got my vote!

I like Bernie because he says what he believes, and he speaks for the common man. He is the Rand Paul of the Democratic party. He obviously won't win, but he will expose a lot of issues that should resonate with many voters.

  • He said in a TV interview that he heard only minor noises on the ride. He admits he couldn't see Gray. I believe he was put into the van after Gray, so Gray could have been given the rough ride before he got in. The police involved never admitted a stop they made until just recently. What did they stop for, how did they stop, and what did they do when they stopped remains to be investigated. The fact that they concealed the stop until now is very suspect. Hey, Gray could hardly stand after the cops kneeled on his back and legs to shackle him. The idea that he could hurl himself against the police van and break his neck and spine is ludicrous. Whip, I admit most police officers are great, but in this case, these cops were extremely negligent or even criminal. Gray may have been someone with a lot of problems, but we don't kill people like that. Whip, you have made many comments about #$%$ Germany. The treatment of Gray is the way the #$%$s would have dealt with someone they deemed undesirable. Hillary has it right when she said that all police should be outfitted with body cams. It will protect not only the people they interact with and arrest, it will protect the police from false charges. It will be expensive, but I expect the savings will be great when lawsuits are minimized and demonstration and riots become less prevalent. The destruction and costs in Baltimore alone will run into many millions.

  • Man, there goes their credibility. The cop brass said they didn't know anything about it until yesterday. The police are trying to claim Gray ruptured his neck and spine by banging his body against the side of the van. Virtually impossible for someone in a cramped van with his hands bound to physically gather the force he would need to slam his body that hard, especially when Gray appeared to have a broken leg when he was put into the van. Like most groups of people, the vast majority of cops are great, but in this case, it sure looks like the cops did this fellow in. I hope it gets sorted out quickly so people can start to calm down.

I am still holding my shares. Speculation is that the company is preparing itself to split into three separate companies. Barron's said the value of the three companies would total around $44. Throw in the generous dividend, and PFE is a nice stock to own for old geezers like us. Good luck!

Rays, there are many false claims, but way too many true claims. How about the black fellow who was shot instead of being tasered. Too many rogue cops who act like bullies.

  • cyoung8404 cyoung8404 Apr 28, 2015 3:18 PM Flag

I believe our country is at a crossroads in race relations. When the black fellow was chocked to death by white cops in NYC for selling cigarettes, NYC was peaceful. Each time something like this happens, anger and resentment grows. All the vulgar and hatred expressed on this board shows just how extremists on both side think. If reason doesn't prevail, every major city could become explosive.

I don't see teachers breaking people's bones, choking them to death, shooting instead of tasering them, etc. Man, if we all could only be white, pharmaceutical reps.; what a wonderful world this would be!

  • He was fine when he was arrested. His arrest is all on video. If the cops didn't brutally beat him to death, what happened? Every week there are new cases where young black males die as a result of police actions under dubious circumstances. All police need to be fitted with body cams to protect themselves and the people they arrest.

  • cyoung8404 cyoung8404 Apr 28, 2015 1:58 PM Flag

Hey, Fraz, now school teachers have made your hate list. Who the heck do you possibly socialize with? I have no respect for rioters and looters, but this never would have happened if the cops did not break that young man's leg, back, and neck, resulting in his death. The fact that they said they didn't put his seat belt on is a load of crapl. Cops are supposed to be good guys who have to deal with people who often exhibit criminal behavior. Cops can't act like criminals when they do their work. Rather than loot and riot, I hope minority young people turn out to vote instead.

When we stick to just talking stocks, I consider our conservations constructive. With biotechs and pharmas there is a lot of things that can screw up our strategic thinking. I have been buying BLRX which has a collaboration deal with NVTS. NVTS already owns 12.8% of BLRX, and it plans to co-develop three drugs that it will select from BLRX's growing portfolio. BLRX, like OPKO, is an Israeli company. It works with the research universities in the country to come up with novel drug candidates and therapies. When NVTS selects a drug to co-develop with BLRX, NVTS will pay BLRX $5 million and pay for 50% of the development costs by buying BLRX stock. I figure NVTS must have done their DD on BLRX, and when they announce their first drug to co-develop, BLRX should get a nice pop. Eventually NVTS could end up owning a pretty big chunk of the company.
