Am I missing something here? Maybe it is to late to do it now with the deadline approaching next week, but it sure seems logical to take the pfe deal if you wanted zts and were interested in getting it about $2 cheaper.
I wasn't going to swap my shares because of the uncertainities of the deal and the lack of info. pfe put out. However, with pfe climbing, and zoetis sinking, it appears that the 7% discount could generate considerably more zts shares now then when the deal was announced. However, if pfe is successful in reclaiming millions of its shares this way, I expect pfe will benefit because it will save the dividend payments on the reclaimed shares. This would help make up for the 7% discount that pfe would give on its zts shares. The problem is that the final disposition of the deal won't be released until after we have to make our decision. I guess my distrust for corporate America makes me skeptical that any deal they set up would actually benefit shareholders. Anyone still considering taking part in this conversion. Good luck!
Many thanks!! I have been accumulating on the dips. Ichan isn't buying for the fun of it. At some point he will make his move. I don't know how it will end up, but I expect he will drive the share price up for longs to make considerable $. I haven't looked at the short position lately, but I don't know why anyone would short this puppy with Ichan loading up. IMHO.
Where did you find this news?
If it drops below 19, I'll be buying more. With Icahn's holdings worth around two-thirds of a billion, he has way too much invested to remain passive unless the company does things he approves of. Based on what I have observed and experienced with Ichan influenced stocks, Carl usually walks away a winner. We shall see, but as I said, I will jump all over Nuan if it slides below 19. IMHO.
Ran across an article from gurufocus when I was checking pre-market trading this morning. The article listed Nuan as Ichan's fifth largest holding with 33,899,274 shares. If my math is correct, that would mean he has around 650 million tied up in the company. The article was dated May 21. The article talked about Ichan's first quarter increases. Evidently the news sparked interest in Nuan. Those of us who have been following the stock knew that Ichan had a large position, but I was unaware that this is reportedly one of his largest holdings. Don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourself. IMHO.
Whether Carl is buying or investors are just tagging along for the ride, Nuance is building momentum. With a company buyback reportedly in the works also, I can't see why anyone would be trying to short this. IMHO.
Somebody is gobbling up a lot of shares. With the company near a yearly low and earnings expectations lowered, I don't see much downside. Throw in Ichan and buyout rumors and the upside seems more likely. I could sell my shares today for a profit, but I think this kind of action will only jincrease. If the buyout speculation continues, Friday's trading should be interesting. Many deal happen over the weekend, so shorts may scramble to cover their positions. I like it!
That's about one third of the normal trading volume. Whether it is a rumor or somebody knows something, it is nice for longs. Nuan is still selling near a yearly low, so taking a position now is probably a good move. Yahoo's recent purchase has probably increased speculation of whose next. It would be interest if Dell had an interest. With Ichan involved in both companies, stranger things could happen. This should be fun!
Just the hint of news has this puppy jumping. I don't know how big the short position is, but I would think it is an extremely dangerous position to hold. Ichan may be quiet right now, but his presense says a lot. Nuan management knows it is only a matter of time before he applies pressure if he doesn't get his way. If Msft, Apple, or anyone else has an interest in buying Nuan, I expect management would be more than willing to take the money and run. Dealing with Ichan could prove most unpleasant. IMHO.
Carl has so many ways to make NUAN go up that I view it as only a matter of time before longs will be rewarded. One press release that he is taking a greater interest at some point would push this over $20 IMHO. If a lot of people are rolling the dice and shorting, I would expect to see $22 with a squeeze. It may drift for awhile, but Ichan is lurking, and this might cause management do something to reward shareholders or even sell the company before Carl makes his play. Good luck!
Ichan certainly likes to pull out all the stops. It will be interesting to see what he is up to. Could he be thinking of taking Nuan private at some point? Whatever he is up to, I like the fact that he hold a large % of stock.
From what I see, it looks like someone bought 52k shares at 18.85 when shares started trading at 8AM. If Nuan is weak with the rest of the market on the manufacturing news, it appears to me that most of the pre market volume was to the upside.
Ichan has a lot of money tied up in Nuan. Right now he is distracted with Dell and Herbalife, but sooner or later I expect him to start making noise with Nuan. What he has in mind only he knows, but management has to be worried. Might they look to sell the company in order to beat him to the punch? We shall see. I am long, and I am willing to sit back and profit when Ichan starts sniffing around a company.
It is only a matter of time before Ichan gets around to making a power play wilth nuan. For now, it appears he is enjoying picking up shares on the cheap. Whether he is serious about making some kind of move or play for nuan, all he has to do is confirm his continued interest and the stock will move up. It is sad, but this guy can move the market just by opening his mouth. I am not a big fan, but I expect he will help nuan longs make a little money. Being short at these levels with Ichan holding a big stake seems like investing suicide to me. IMHO.
I checked in to see why CLDX was sliding, and I realized that some people are still trying to debate the last election on this message board. Too bad we can't stick to investing issues. Most sane people have moved on because the people have spoken. That's what makes our country great. The next round of elections will come soon enough, and I for one will spend my time trying to quietly make money. By the way, my portfolio and the rest of the market has done very well the last couple of years. If President Obama is going to be judged on every little thing, I guess we have to give him credit for the stock market's recovery. The American auto industry is doing pretty well, and the bank bailout seems to have more than stabilized the banking industry. All the doom and gloom the tea party crew was throwing around hasn't seemed to materialize. Things will get better for the younger generation is much more diverse, open minded, and intelligent than the angry old men who are dooming the Republican Party to second place on the national scene.
I agree that those who hold will most likely be rewarded. The fact that Ichan has said nothing is a good sign to me. I believe he is developing a strategy, and that would be complex and take some time. We all know that a some point Ichan will speak up. That's when I expect the longs will be rewarded, and the shorts will be sent screaming for the hills! IMHO.
I think your friend may be on to something. Interesting that Ichan reportedly jumped and bought another few million shares without a word, as far as I know, concerning his reaction to the earnings. Ichan has been known to take advantage of everything he can, so I am happy to be long with him and give him time to work his "magic." I personally don't like the guy, but he usually finds a way to profit from most of his positiions. IMHO.
It is good for earnings, and the low price right now makes it a good time to buy back. Ichan would like that because his % ownership of the company goes up without him having to buy additional shares.
I am only guessing, but I have followed Ichan for a long time, and he rarely sits back and loses money. I expect he will announce that he is taking an activist role at some point in the future, so I am content to sit on my shares and be patient. Earnings just came out, so I think all the negativity has been priced in. I see no downside impetus, so being short could be very costly near term. IMHO.
