I've been loading up on SD between $3.70 and $3.90. Missed the dip to $3.50........but now holding just under 100,000 shares SD. If it hits $3.50 again I will double down. Someone asked me about HOV recently. I started buying HOV in low 4's and bought the last 60,000 at $3.10 which put me nicely in the money on HOV now. That idiot contranut said I was stupid for averaging down. In the money now on HOV, only 16 cents a share underwater on EVC and bought another 1,607 USCXW warrants today at $3.492 to $3.50..........buying it on any dip. I actually just got 8 shares one day last week at $3.16 and my cost per share was around $4.25 for those 8 shares because commission was over a dollar a share. I buy anything they will sell me under $3.50 now. DaninFW

The one thing I got out of it was why EVC's spectrum was so valuable. It's apparent it can effect phone operators. I wonder if it can disrupt the tv signal via phones also. However, the spectrum in Denver is estimated to be worth only $33 million per station and I am sure they are generating very profitable station in Denver. Not a market they would sell. But, this spectrum will only become more valuable and may be worth $50-60 million now if estimates are low. Just doesn't make sense to me. EVC could also pull their request. DaninFW

  • "Public-sector work in Texas includes the benefits of nearly $20 billion of construction investment from 2013 through 2015.

We recently began serving the interstate 35 East project in Dallas and are positioned to serve upcoming sections of the TIFIA funded Grand Parkway project in Houston. The East and other major projects have contributed to a multi-year backlog in Texas.

During the quarter, Congress passed an extension of MAP-21 through May 31, 2015 and also authorized $11 billion of transfers to maintain the High Way Trust Fund solvency. We believe these are the first steps toward reauthorization of a multi-year federal highway bill.

The non-residential end-use market represented 30% of quarterly heritage volume since shipments increased 3% over the prior year quarter. Growth was driven by shipments to support shale energy expansion projects notably in South Texas. Recently, there have been market concerns about the sustainability of these projects primarily due to the decline in the global price of oil.

However, there are over $100 billion of anticipated energy projects along the Gulf Coast and over $1 billion of needed infrastructure repairs on roads damaged by heavy construction vehicles used in energy projects over the past several years. Early portion of this repair work are now underway.

Given this level of ongoing activity, we expect the ramping up in construction materials demand for these projects. Consistent with that expectation, on the November 2014 ballet, the Texas legislature has advanced Proposition 1. Our proposed constitutional amendment who directs needed road repairs. continued"

First I've heard of this. Why would EVC do this to help T-Mobile? What's in it for them? Looks like they are moving from a 600 MHz band which is more valuable to a 700 MHz which is less valuable. T-Mobile should be paying them millions of dollars. What am I missing here. I am not a technical person. Is this another example of management stupidity? DaninFW

  • Entravision looks to move to lower channel

By dseyler on Oct, 29 2014 with Comments 0

Entravision Communications CorporationKCEC-TV Denver is currently operating on Channel 51. Despite a general freeze on such things, the FCC is willing to not only consider but encourage this one – but it requires a rulemaking.

The FCC explained, “Entravision states that grant of the petition would serve the public interest. While the Commission instituted a freeze on the acceptance of rulemaking petitions by full power television stations requesting channel substitutions in May 2011,1 it subsequently announced that it would lift the freeze to accept petitions for rulemaking filed by full power television stations seeking to relocate from channel 51 pursuant to a voluntary relocation agreement with Lower 700 MHz A Block licensees.”

The Commission continued, “Entravision further states that discontinuance of KCEC(TV)’s operations on channel 51 will eliminate potential interference to and from wireless operations and allow T-Mobile USA, Inc., the Lower 700 MHz A Block licensee, to commence operations in service to wireless subscribers.”

The FCC said the proposal warrants consideration and is initiating the rulemaking. At this point, it is opening the proceeding up to public comment. Deadlines will be announced once the proceeding makes it into the Federal Register.

In the Univision report today, Univision cited one of the reasons that they exceeded revenues was continued growth in re-trans. Univision negotiates re-trans for EVC so we should see nice growth in that area in Q3. Feeling better about EVC meeting or beating expect. Nice to see us hold all of the gain yesterday and traded in fairly narrow range most of the day. In the last 20-30 minutes I saw about a dozen 10,000+ share blocks get traded and each time it would pop up a penny or two and then someone would see a few hundred shares and they would bring it down a penny or two. Someone is accumulating or covering a short position big time. DaninFW

If EVC was to have a say 2-3% revenue beat and beat EPS expect by a penny or two we could pop 50 cents easily. However, it will also follow sector. SBGI and GTN report next Wednesday morning, LIN reports Thursday morning and EVC reports Thursday evening. If the other three report good numbers, EVC will follow. If bad reports the opposite. Then when EVC reports it will pop or drop based on their report. Lot's of potential volatility next week. The perfect storm next week would be for sector to show good numbers, EVC come up and blow away the numbers and announce they are doing their annual special dividend of 10 cents.......and then talk good stuff about the valuable spectrum they own. We could pop a dollar plus. DaninFW

Univision reported Q3 broadcast revenues up 5.7% this morning. World Cup was a lot of it. They didn't discuss national ads or breakout local revenues that I could find yet. Strong quarter for Univision. Earnings were way up. I think EVC will beat by 1% on revenues and hit EPS expect. If Pulpo exceeds we could be off to the races. DaninFW

Got curious and researched. There have been 3 other schedule 13 filings. One fund sold all 36,434 shares, another sold all 21,852 shares and the third fund sold all their 1,550 shares. Less than 60,000 shares sold by small holders while the big guns added over 2,000,000 shares between two funds. Going to be interesting seeing the other filings. These may have been funds not allowed to keep under $5 stocks. DaninFW

For those that aren't aware, many retirement funds, institutional funds, etc. are not allowed to buy stocks under $5. If they own them before they drop below $5 they usually have 30, 60, or 90 days to sell if it doesn't get above $5. If we can hold and move above $5 again, we will attract even more investors that could not buy before. I would also add in hindsight this was some of the selling pressure we have witnessed as many were forced to liquidate a thinly traded highly volatile stock. It should work in our favor big time if EVC has a good report next week. DaninFW

MLM this morning reported that their recently acquired TXI operation had a volume increase of 16%.....in a sold out Texas market........we can also assume 5%+ in price increases. Looks like USCR will show 20%+ revenue increase. Amazing growth. The recent Texas acquisitions look like a gold mine. DaninFW

Look at the first post. There are actually four more resistance levels above $5.74 to $6.80......I agree with news it could move very quickly. Three of the four are just single resistance levels not double or triple. 2 of the 3 are the lowest strength at 1 also. The next resistance level $5.48 to $5.74 is a triple strength 10. When we punch above that we could fly. I expect some more short covering next couple of says that should take us above $5.50 before earnings. DaninFW

Read the last paragraph of what I posted. I was dead on. There was zero resistance till we hit $5.14 and we popped 40 cents in the first 15-20 minutes. Now, a lot of resistance till we get to $5.74. DaninFW

Kalmar Investments just filed this morning that they added another 1,047,410 shares of EVC in Q3 and now hold 2,123,885 shares. They are now the 6th largest holder. The Big Guns loaded up on EVC even before value of spectrum released. This is second filing and both added over a million more shares each. DaninFW

IMVHO we won't see $9-10 in next 12 months without a buyout offer. However, as we near 12 months we will only be 4-7 months from the auction and depending on what EVC says or announces it could spark interest. I have seen these deals many times in my career. Average shareholders won't get the riches from this in most cases. Someone will steal it for the riches themselves. But, if we can move up to $7-8 in next 3-12 months that could change if EVC telegraphs their intentions. Their management sucks so I don't give much credence to that happening. I would be glad for them to prove me wrong as we all might get rich. I think the Univision stake is going to come into play in next 3-12 months. Not sure exactly how but it's the largest block of stock and anyone wanting to buy EVC has to own that block or get their approval. If we get an announcement that some company has bought Univision's 9 million shares at a premium it could pop the stock. Also, a more typical scenario is for someone to acquire just under 5% of the stock and behind the scenes negotiate the 10% that Univision holds or even get their support for a buyout. That would be a 15% block with a lot of control. This scenario happens all the time when the hedge fund pirates are buying something to carve up. Something soon IMVHO. DaninFW

I made a mistake. It was the second author that changed his position in a few days and then said he took a short position. Sounds a lot like contranut. As I have said, spectrum is not what is driving this sector now. 80%+/- of the analysts and investors said they expected the auction to be pushed back because of the lawsuits. It was not a surprise. However, NOBODY expected the spectrum at EVC to be worth what the FCC projected. Things will happen. EVC will be a target sooner or later. DaninFW
