  • A 147,500 share block crossed in three trades at 11 minutes before close at $6.85 and held. This stock is so manipulated it's a wonder to watch. This morning we opened and traded below $6.85 and then 100 shares traded at $6.91 about 30 minutes into the trading day. Then another 100 traded at $6.91 which flushed out some weak hands and we started trading at $6.89. EVC is gradually being accumulated very wisely. They overpay 6 cents a share on 100-200 shares just to bring out the weak hands. Something is up and cheap shares are slowly disappearing. DaninFW

  • USCR has another presentation tomorrow. They updated slides after close today on their website. Maybe we'll get a bounce tomorrow. Looks like Whippoorwill is still dumping again. DaninFW

The news that came out this morning can't do anything but really raise radio revenue projections for Q2, and big jumps in Q3 and Q4. Can't wait for presentation tomorrow. We might actually get some good news. DaninFW

  • USCR has made two new acquisitions in as many weeks.....each immediately accretive to earnings. A few including myself have expressed concerns about revenues due to Texas weather. Well, all sun for next 7+ days now and the two new acquisitions will contribute one full month in unexpected revenues. These guys amaze me and the analysts can't increase projections fast enough. I hate to say this but most people misread and think BOD's are buying. Market Pulse actually reported it as buys. It was almost 62,000 total shares given to 6 non-employee BOD's that vest 5-28-16. It's a type of compensation for services rendered. I always watch to see if they hold or sell. They haven't sold the restricted stock yet they got last year. Always a good sign they think it's going up. DaninFW

  • They are projecting $2.85 for 2015 and then dropping to $2.67 in 2016........after all these new accretive acquisitions, another 10%+/- price increase and all synergies kicking in.........must be nice to be paid big bucks for incompetency. Another reason this is going to be $48+ in next 12 months. DaninFW

In the last 5 trading days, EVC has traded above 260,000 shares per day in 3 of the last 5 trading days. This has not happened since March. We have also closed each day in the most narrow range of $6.75 to $6.80. We had a big buyer this past week that bought about 150,000 EVC shares in last 20 minutes Friday alone. Someone is accumulating. Will be a very interesting week with the presentation in the middle of the day Wednesday. If the right questions and answers pop up we could be off to the races. Need an update on the Univision contract. Revenue numbers were also looking up at the Q1 conference call. If they have improved we could also see a pop. EVC said broadcast was positive in Q3 and radio was up over 20%. I still think another news release is coming for some kind of acquisition as well. That $50-60 million has to be burning a hole in their pocket. DaninFW

The really stupid thing is concrete is going up 10% a year compounded. It will cost the government about 33-35% more just for concrete in 3 years for what they could fix today.

Almost 60% of all shares traded today, about 150,000 shares, were traded in last 20 minutes. Big buyer came in taking everything available at $6.75-$6.76 and at the close there was a bid of 40,000 at $6.75 that got taken out on last trade. Then, 5 minutes after the close, EVC announces they have a presentation this Wednesday.......EVC is really strong this time around. Someone is letting it drop 5-10 cents and then when there are a bunch of orders to sell at 5-10 cents higher, the buyer steps in and takes it out.......wash, rinse, repeat. It is definitely being accumulated without driving up the price. Weak hands are getting fewer and fewer. I'm happy it's holding here and not dropping. Big move will come as the auction gets nearer. Would be nice for them to put in a word about spectrum this next Wednesday. DaninFW

All the freeways and highways I see getting built are a 12 inch +/- concrete slab with about 4-6 inches asphalt on top.

It just hit me today. I keep thinking West Face has just over 6% of outstanding shares but they actually have about 9.12% of all Class A shares as of 3-31-15. I believe this may well be why volume has dried up. IMVHO current holders are in for long term gains from spectrum. No more big sellers. I believe WF has probably gotten very close to 10%, probably about 9.9%+/-........once they go over 10% they have 2 days to file and then must report any buys or sells within 2 days as a 10% holder. I would not be surprised if they are talking to big holders about buying their blocks. We may see one day of several million shares getting taken out at a premium. They may be keeping price down so they don't have to pay a large premium for the large blocks. If we see a day with a big pop, big blocks and super high volume, we will probably see a filing by WF within a few days. I believe they just want to buy as much as they can either for leverage or simply to make a fortune when EVC sells their spectrum. Smart money at work. DaninFW

The analysts already lowered estimates once after conference call because of rain in April and early May. IMVHO the stock has dropped 5-8% from the high already. They are not required to do a press release because they have never released any projections therefore not required to revise them. An analyst could lower or downgrade. DaninFW

I posted on this in a previous post today. But, keep in mind, April was already in the bank. June should be way above normal from catch up. So, about 1/3 of the quarter effected in Texas where it is 25-35% of total revenues. Read my other thoughts. Rest of 2015 and 2016 are going to be incredible, replacing washed out roads, bridges, dams, etc. DaninFW

I have to add that this represents even more money for highway funding. It sucks up any available concrete but remember, only about 5% of USCR's revenues are from highways......it is low margin. They stay away from it.......keeps prices and margin up. Still good for USCR. DaninFW

This is latest news as of yesterday:
Texas House and Senate leaders have come to an agreement on a deal to significantly boost the Texas Department of Transportation’s funding.

Both Senate Transportation Chairman Robert Nichols, R-Jacksonville, and House Transportation Chairman Joe Pickett, D-El Paso, confirmed Tuesday that differences between the two chambers on how to dedicate some state tax revenue to roads have been resolved.

“I feel great about it,” Nichols said. “This is a win for Texas.”

Both Nichols and Pickett had passed measures in their respective chambers this session that would ask voters to amend the state constitution to dedicate some future revenue stream to the highway fund. Nichols’ Senate Joint Resolution 5 would have dedicated a portion of the sales tax already collected on vehicle sales. Pickett’s House Bill 13 would have dedicated some of the broader sales tax revenue. With one week left in the session, both measures will need to be amended to reflect the compromise and then approved by both chambers.

Under the deal, Texans would be asked to amend the constitution to dedicate $2.5 billion of the general sales tax to the highway fund right away as well as a portion of future motor vehicle sales taxes beginning in 2020, Pickett and Nichols confirmed.

Both funding streams will have triggers attached to them in case of downswings in the state economy. The general sales tax revenue dedication could be halted if sales tax revenue comes in lower than about $28 billion in a fiscal year, which is around what the state collects today, Pickett said.

Don't have real numbers as they have never been provided to my knowledge. However, Texas has to be 25-35% of total revenues IMVHO. I just had a new patio poured last week with 10 yards of concrete and they worked in the rain and covered to let it dry. So, work is getting done but it has to be slowed down. We have bridges washed out everywhere. I live in Fort Worth in the big city and just drove to meet my daughter and about two miles of a two lane road was completely absent of pavement that was there a week ago. Good thing I took the Jeep. USCR mentioned in last call that weather effected sales in Q1 in Texas. I have to guess that total revenues have to be hit by 5% at least and that's only if they get back to work 100% soon. Probably a 10% hit. But, there will now be more work than ever to get caught up. Bridges are made of concrete. We have dams bursting that are made of concrete. The rest of 2015 and 2016 are going to be incredible. DaninFW

You could be right but I doubt it. The reason is the word "repaving" is being used. Asphalt with heat will bond to other asphalt. But, not much luck laying another layer of concrete or cement on top of another layer. They usually jack hammer it out or use heavy equipment. They usually take the short cut. No question concrete lasts longer. Stock getting hit because of non-stop rain in Texas. Flooding everywhere. We have already gotten about 5-10 inches more rain in 2015 than all of 2014. Major thunderstorms still expected next 7-10 days every single day still. DaninFW
