    T1XX Axle Sourcing

I found it intertesting that it would only be 25% of the light duty axles sourced to a second supplier. Given the amount of R&D American Axle has spent on things like ring and pinion development and gear cutting technology, I would find it intertestng if the 2nd source supplier built an exact copy of an American Axle design light duty axle. I would not be surprised if the ring and pinion for the insourced to GM outsourced to 2nd supplier axles was supplied by AAM. Secondly, what would be the big rationale behind a second source for light duty axles? The only thing I can think of is in case of a disaster type event at AAM if most of its axles are produced in one location.

Does anyone know what supplier will be making the 25% of the light duty T1XX that AAM was not awarded?
