The only way BIDU should be liable is if they knew the treatment was deadly, assuming the treatment is the reason for the student's death? Holding BIDU liable for the quality of an advertisers products would shut down search?
IF I want to sell a new experimental drug - BIDU would have to have Doctors better than my researchers on staff to check it out.
If I want to sell shares in my private oil well - BIDU would have to have a bevy of various scientific staff to judge its existence and get access to my private well and applicable data, to know if it is as advertised.
If I want to advertise my special brownies - BIDU now must have a bevy of nutritionists and other food experts to ensure the safety and nutritional value of my product.
And on and on.
It is financially prohibitive for a search engine to hire sufficient experts in every field so they can check everything that is sold on its site and if they did go to the expense, there would still be no assurance and in fact BIDU would then be better off just making everything itself.
This should be a case between the maker of the product and the victim.
I don't own TGT but had it on my potential buy list. I stopped shopping there except on rare occasions a while ago. Now, I have removed them from consideration for my portfolio. Bye Bye TGT.
Hopefully, others will join me and TGT can become the shopping place of choice for the LGBT community, only. (You could have avoided this with a policy of "We have single user bathrooms that those with identity issues are able to use.)
We have now had 8 years of business crushing policy in much of the world. Get the Governments to encourage instead of depress free enterprise and the glut in oil & natural gas will disappear quite quickly. In the US, I wonder if our energy infrastructure can support putting 90+ million Americans back to work. Brown & blackouts are a distinct possibility. I will continue to hold until I'm convinced who we are sending to the White House. That outcome will result in another buy, hold, or sell decision on my part.
