Yes, that's right. Company only provides options. This director doubled up. Very good sign for next 6 months. He also purchased open market back in Nov.

That's exactly what you want to stop the churning of small lots of shares. Now we need the institutions and strong hands to drive the share price higher. When the upgrades finally come (and they always come late after they've accumulated) the shorts will be forced to cover much higher. Hopefully management times any good news to catch them off guard. Dave Lyle is smart enough to know all this. I believe yesterday's conference was step one.

Yes, it is somewhat encouraging considering how critical I have been of this management over the past 3 quarters. The June Cable Show should help get a little more Wall Street participation. Those who sold after the last conference call are hopefully gone and won't come back. The strong hands (mine) will stay in for at least another year and maybe even several years. Management seems to be getting the message even though they are still one of the most hated stocks on the NASDAQ. Those are usually the one's that make you the most money in the long haul. I certainly wouldn't want to be short this stock if upgrades or positive news comes!

I listened to the entire 35 minute presentation. Dave does a much better job of presenting than Patrick (just my opinion). Sounds like slow steady growth over the next 24 months with regained market share already starting to take place. I like what I heard even though he didn't get real specific on any new design wins. Should be hearing more on that front in June or July if I read him right. Nice job Dave...perhaps you should be the CEO in the future??? I expect some upgrades in the next few months.

    Jonas,
Do you work for Entropic? When you say "we" and "us" it sounds like you are quite familiar with the manufacturing facility. I'm just a large investor far from the west coast. I have decades of experience on Wall Street, but very little tech experience other than 12 years at General Motors, some of it in engineering/manufacturing. Like to hear your opinion on the larger facility ENTR recently moved to and why. Thanks!

Plenty of shorts still in as of 4/30 (see below). That is a time bomb ticking if any good news is released. Hopefully this mundane (that's being kind) management is smart enough to know how to burn the remaining shorts with a well timed news release. Short Position: 4/30/2013 6,971,540 14.670502 Days to cover based on average volume.

You don't want shorts covering now. Make them cover after the stock is $6 and above. That may not be far off! JPM conference tomorrow morning.

I think we will get a flavor on Thurs. after the JPM Conference presentation. Henry has to know that shareholders are fed up with his poor performance. I think he will start giving more information sooner than 4th Q. I would expect the stock to finally break out of this range in June and head back to $5.25 to $6 range. If next conference call goes well and some new contracts are announced I expect it to finally hold above $6. It's too bad we don't have the right CEO in place right now. This stock would be on fire with the rest of the market. Hopefully that changes within the next year. BOD better wake up!

As you can see below, my average for 53,000 shares is $4.6873. My highest price paid was $5.21. I just don't like the way management has handled the last 4 conference calls. I agree the products are fantastic, but I have great doubts about this CEO's ability to grow the company based on his past track record and the way he has handled the conference calls. I'm not going anywhere as I believe the shares are worth $12 or more within 2 years, but not under the current management.

How many times have we heard that from this management? The best thing that could happen would be a hostile take-over by either private equity or and industry competitor or large customer. In that case the current management would be history and shareholders would finally see some value in their investment. This management doesn't deserve anymore patience from its shareholders! Even the insider buying is minimal. Most of us own more shares than any recent purchases by management. They bleed this company with options paid for by us shareholders. Its time for major change!

    Short vs Long on ENTR

This management won't be able to earn its way out of the current hole. The right CEO could get that done and Vanguard and Blackrock SHOULD BE forcing that issue with the BOD's. Both have a huge stake in this company and they need to be more active in demanding management change. The other possibility is a white knight steps in and demands Board seats very soon while the stock price is still affordable. Hopefully that happens and management gets a clue!

Better Idea: BOD's hires an experienced turn-around CEO who cleans house, ends the gravy train of unwarranted management options, brings in an expert in shareholder relations who understands Wall Street, and we watch the stock return to $12 within 12 months!

Well said! I totally agree the current price simply isn't justified. This is mostly due to poor management and lack of leadership at the top. Henry needs to be replaced with an experienced CEO who understands Wall Street. I think it's as simple as that. I honestly believe the share price would double if he resigned and the BOD hired a Fortune 500 CEO with the appropriate experience. Mel Karmazin would be a good example or John Malone. They could turn this into a $15 stock within 18 months! It's not the product, it's the management that's the problem. We all have our opinions, this is mine. I have 28 years of experience with Wall Street and investing so I'm pretty sure I'm right about my investment in ENTR. I'm just not happy with management, not happy at all!

What we need to see is P. Henry and Dave Lyle buying 100K shares each. Then the stock might move! I'm tired of paying for all their options and watching my investment get clobbered every time they open their mouths!

    any possibility of a buyout

No way! I'm holding all my shares and am confident the stock will recover in good time (probably less than 6 months). Who knows what Blackrock or Vanguard Funds might be up to. They both have HUGE investments in ENTR and I'm sure are as upset with Henry and his constant excuses as we are. I really think this will end in some sort of hostile type takeover if these funds can get Board seats and get Henry out. There are other funds who have been accumulating lately also. They are tired of the management BS also. The Needham downgrade is meaningless. They have been selling since last November and may be almost out, if not completely. Who listens to analysts anyway! Always do the opposite of whatever they say, but you already know that. You're the smart one on this board and I sincerely mean that. We will make money in good time Cleveland!

    by bot_feeder May 1, 2013 11:13 AM
dbrewerm dbrewerm May 1, 2013 12:01 PM Flag

Buyout is unlikely because no other company would want the current Entropic management. If a buyout were to occur ENTR management would be shown the door rather quickly. A hostile takeover, is however, a good possibility at this low valuation. Millions of shares could be bought under $5 and the new major shareholder could demand Board seats. They would most likely want Henry out ASAP and bring in a new CEO that can get the job done. This company has great products and plenty of cash and could be turned around with the right management that isn't sucking the life out of it with stock options, etc. Founders need to know when it is time for them to leave and bring in competent management. When that happens this stock will soar!
