just announced their November special and it is $5.75/card 25 or more. I guess they are trying to smooth out the "slow" coin quarters by selling more cards
FYI - re coin cert numbers. The "stats" page reports 189K for last 30 days but if I go to the number of coins graded from Oct 1 - Nov 1, I get 168K. I guess the discrepancy is due to coins at different points in the grading process. I tend to think the total number subtraction is more accurate than going by the "30 day rate" as those coins are still in process.
PSA just reports 1 number on the first of the month so there is no discrepancy there as the granularity is lower.
great start to the "slow" quarter. Backlogs are still high as well. Stock moving towards multi-year highs. Short interest still high but down from peak.
Earnings most likely to be reported next Thursday after COB. Unfortunately, I will be away on vacation. Not expecting a surprise. 21c +/- 2c vs 10c year ago. Rev should be over $13M +/- $500k
1A) If Avis is dead, is the company looking at strategic options to sell all or part of the company to return value to shareholders?
I'll have to wait until Nov 11 to read these results. I don't expect them to answer anything.
low barriers to entry. This thing has been overpriced and overhyped since the IPO. I don't know what earnings will do, but even if they beat, the PE is still high by a large amount. The growth rate of the company does not jive with the PE.
are they talking about full 300K car rollout for ZIP integration? This would allow any car to be regular or ZIPCar. Or are they talking about rolling out maybe 20K cars for ZIP?
IDSY has not made it very clear what is happening. Liolios is useless and does not even return emails. I wonder if that even complies with SEC regulations.
FYI - Avis admitted today that ZIP integration will not be completed until end of 2015, 9 months later than planned. These guys don't have a clue
I am more confused now than before today based on these statements. I won't be around next week for the CC. I'll be on a much needed vacation. I don't expect any clarity out of Jagid nor any earth breaking bad news either. In short, I don't care.
Avis now saying ZIP technical synergies will take another 9 months and won't be complete until end of 2015. Based on that elongated timeline, wouldn't it seem they are doing this on their own? Why would it take 2 years if they were using IDSY? Are they factoring in rolling out IDSY to their entire fleet as taking two years?
so it looks like if IDSY is still involved, that more system work is in order for one way rentals. Avis has admitted here that ZIP synergies are thus delayed by 9 months.
from today's Avis CC:
We made Zipcars available to members of certain Avis and Budget urban locations, adding to the number of places where they can find a vehicle. We've opened additional airport locations, including Boston Logan in September, bringing the total number of airports, where Zipsters can find cars, to 22 worldwide with further expansions planned. We've replenished 20% of our Zipcar fleet with a younger, more diverse fleet offering and providing members with a better experience and satisfying more of their needs while doing so at a lower cost.
On the cost side, we've started sharing fleet with several hundred cars moving from the Avis Budget fleet during the week to Zipcar on the weekend to better satisfy member needs. And we expect to be offering one-way rentals to members in select markets in the not-so-distant future, a benefit Zipcar currently doesn't offer its members. All of these efforts are enabling us to maintain our leadership position within the car-sharing category, as well as the broader market for affordable mobility.
We continue to expect that Zipcar will contribute $25 million or so to adjusted EBITDA this year. In addition, we still anticipate the synergies associated with the acquisition to total $50 million to $70 million, but we now expect to reach this run rate by the end of 2015 rather than earlier that year. David will discuss the timing of these synergies in more detail in a few moments.
But in general, the required sophistication of the fleet-sharing model is going to take additional systems work before we're ready to fully implement one-way rentals for Zipsters. And while we did share cars between Avis and Budget and Zipcar during the summer in certain markets, we do think it's going to take a little more time to execute on this on a broad scale to ensure we optimize the member experience. But to be clear, this only impacts the timing of these synergies, not their ultimate impact.
dude you are such a liar. you never bought RVM. Why would I listen to you on anything? Those stocks you mention....well they suk, just like you
Here's your update:
Sales are lower than last year, expenses are up, retrofit is stalled, and Pirelli was just a vapor PR with no substance
Avis claims for ZIP integration:
- almost all necessary actions taken to capture cost synergies of $20M-$25M
- managing synergy ramp-up to ensure outstanding member experience
so here are my thoughts:
how can they claim that if ZIP has a separate billing and procurement system?
how can they claim that if the ZIP telematic device does not automatically read fuel/mileage?
So either Avis has duplicated and stolen IDSY's functionality for their own use or they will be using the IDSY system.
