tax dollars? MGN is not getting any tax money. If anything we should be outraged that our tax dollars go to wasteful organizations like the EPA, USFWS, etc. All they do is thwart economic activity and add costs to legit businesses. They are anti-human organizations
earnings tomorrow. Look for comparable to last year; 29c GAAP EPS, $14.5M rev. The key number is how much cash is added? Last year was $1.3M. More than that and it puts a big hurt on the 665K shorts as the premise of the company cutting the dividend will not hold. This current quarter has started out much stronger than last year as well.
The Russell index rebalance will be set on the closing prices of stocks as of May 30. Last year CLCT was removed and 700K+ shares were sold. With the price of CLCT almost double from last year, it looks almost certain that CLCT will be added to the indexes. As long as the price of the stock stays over $20/sh, it's going in. Shares will need to be bought regardless of price by end of June.
Stock goes ex-dividend on the 14th, 32.5c
Makes for an interesting 7+ weeks between now and end of June.
all these nutjobs and shootings going on. Is Lynne sane? Is she a threat to society? Does she need to be institutionalized for the good of society? Her posts are getting more and more threatening and show a cognitive separation from reality. For her own safety and societies, she needs to be put away
Collectors Corner now has 36 Registry sets in the first week. Cards for sale valued at over $3.1M. More importantly, 2 people have reported making SALES of their cards after listing there. Some snafus, but it is a work in progress. They are getting ideas and bug reports from users in real-time and fixing in real-time. With over 100,000 card registry sets, this can be a big business for CLCT.
Thinking out loud. 2 sales in 1 week with only 36 sets (of the 100K+) registered. If CLCT really gets this going that could translate to a couple thousand sales every week. At $5/sale in commission, this could add over $100K to sales every year. Just for cards. Coins are 3X more popular and 10X more expensive. This could be a multi-million dollar revenue item for CLCT, with very low fixed costs. Would probably increase margin and add 10c/yr to earnings. That 10c is essentially the cash burn they have now every year.
It seems to me that CLCT is thinking of not only getting into online sales with commission, but becoming the exchange, like NASDAQ, that aggregates prices and sales for all the sub-exchanges (auction houses). If they could strike a deal with Ebay where Collectors Corner items come up in the Ebay search, it could dramatically bring in new business. Maybe give Ebay a small cut for searches done through Ebay like Apple gets a cut on their AppStore.
from Don Willis:
This was a heck of a show. It was a whirlwind of activity for me as the show was not only sold out but PCGS invited a couple dozen of the top coin dealers and auctioneers in China to attend. I was so busy I didn't get a chance to say hello to many of the people that I usually do.
Attendance set records on both Thursday and Friday. Most dealers I spoke with were very pleased. There was a nice buzz in the air for most of the show. Even Saturday was busy.
The US Mint sold much more than they expected. I believe they sold out of all the coins they had held for the show. Pawn Stars had people waiting for hours to audition for their show. I got outbid on all my lots in the Heritage sale....
Contrary to some idle speculation, every table was sold and there was a waiting list! People were complaining that there weren't as many tables to eat their lunch! Many of the dealers who abandoned Long Beach a couple years ago are trying to get back in and are fighting for good table locations.
Expos is a separate division of Collectors Universe. It is not the PCGS show (ours is in Vegas). In my opinion the Expo team has done a great job of rejuvenating the show after a few years of neglect.
Hope you were there and enjoyed it.
of which, index funds will need to buy about 1B for the Dow Jones 30 index
$16.3M rev, 26c GAAP, $1.4M cash generated. I like the big revenue growth (12.5% y-y) and cash generated. Not sure why GAAP was not higher based on such high revenue but tax rate was 42.5% which seems a little higher than normal
then why are they building one new coal fired plant every day in China? Seriously Lynne, you are out of touch. China is the biggest threat to humanity.
typically, CLCT has announced the next dividend buy now with the ex-day around May 14. The way the Russell entry valuation is determined, they take the market cap on one day, May 30. Maybe CLCT times the next ex-div day for that date. I would. Getting into the Russell indexes would see 700K+ shares need to be bought.
the coin counter went up by 1141 overnight. US is closed so had to be overseas. 1141 is a new record for one day
I posed that premise on the PSA chat room, and by and large everyone said raising prices and they would stop submitting. Even a $1 or $2 raise and they would stop. I don't agree with that, just repeating what the consensus was.
here posts have no negative outcome on share price. I would even go as far as to say her posts cause the price to rise by making it appear there is interest in the company. She would be better off buying 100 shares and asking that a shareholder referendum to her liking be placed on the ballot. She could also attend the annual shareholder meeting and give them heck there.
Still trending higher than last year (about 20%). Backlogs are still strong as well.
According to a well placed and reliable insider, Lynne to be committed for evaluation by August of this year. Electro-shock therapy will be followed with a lobotomy
