Afghan President Hamid Karzai confirms secret US cash 'help'
Hamid Karzai was responding to a New York Times report that alleged the CIA sent suitcases stuffed with cash to the president's office on a regular basis.
It said tens of millions of dollars "came in secret" and cash was given on a vaster scale than previously thought.
Secret cash payoffs? hey, we are the CIA, we can do #$%$ we want with your money.
welcome to post Reagan/Bush 'Merica
Experts estimate so-called budget sequestration could cost the country about 700,000 jobs, but Wall Street doesn’t expect the cuts to substantially alter corporate profits or threaten stock markets.
As for American workers, LET THEM EAT CAKE.
A long time ago, when Apple made mistakes (Newton, Apple III, etc. etc.) they dropped the junk and moved on.
No longer. Now we have the worst junk of all: iTunes. And it won't go away. The stock of a company that makes a POS like iTunes a centerpiece deserves to go to zero.
I see you are STANDING YOUR GROUND. Are you The Decider?
"This is contrary to the evidence that showed the experts could not agree on the most likely cause."
"Keep in mind that Michael Dell extracted $17 billion in cash over the years from the company,"
Leading privacy expert Caspar Bowden has warned Europeans using US cloud services that their data could be snooped on.
In a report, he highlights how the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Amendment Act (FISAAA) allows US authorities to spy on cloud data.
This includes services such as Amazon Cloud Drive, Apple iCloud and Google Drive.
He told the BBC this heralded a new era of "cloud surveillance".
We DON"T need or want Hagel.
Chuck Hagel, an unknown millionaire ran for one of Nebraska’s U.S. Senate seats in 1996. Initially Hagel trailed the popular Democratic governor, Ben Nelson, who had been elected in a landslide two years earlier. Three days before the election, however, a poll conducted by the Omaha World-Heraldshowed a dead heat, with 47 percent of respondents favoring each candidate. David Moore, who was then managing editor of the Gallup Poll, told the paper, “We can’t predict the outcome.”
Hagel’s victory in the general election, invariably referred to as an “upset,” handed the seat to the G.O.P. for the first time in eighteen years. Hagel trounced Nelson by fifteen points. Even for those who had factored in the governor’s deteriorating numbers and a last-minute barrage of negative ads, this divergence from pre-election polling was enough to raise eyebrows across the nation.
Few Americans knew that until shortly before the election, Hagel had been chairman of the company whose computerized voting machines would soon count his own votes: Election Systems & Software (then called American Information Systems). Hagel stepped down from his post just two weeks before announcing his candidacy. Yet he retained millions of dollars in stock in the McCarthy Group, which owned ES&S. And Michael McCarthy, the parent company’s founder, was Hagel’s campaign treasurer.
"The demon is a snob, and the snob is demonic. The Neo-Con-Republican-Tea Party activates snobs, depends on snobs, coddles snobs, publicizes and celebrates snobs—it is the snob. Sweeping in its scope and relentless in its propaganda, Demonic explains the peculiarities of N-C-R-TP as standard groupthink behavior. To understand snobs is to understand neo-cons."
blah blah blah
No compromise! No raising of taxes! Slash Social Security and Medicare! Meet our demands and give us $1 trillion or we will blow up the economy! When did the Republican Party turn into Dr. Evil from Austin Powers?
Ronald "Bedtime For Bonzo" Reagan said we don’t negotiate with terrorists, and George W. Bush reiterated this sentiment. But those "patriots" are terrorizing the US Federal Government with their threats, demands, and absolute refusal to compromise. They are holding our economy hostage in exchange for draconian cuts in our social services. This is a crisis of choice, being thrust upon us by the Republicunts in office.
