I've been quite amazed how much resistance there is right at $9. I've watched this price creep close on $9 many times but only break it rarely. Are shorts trying to exploit the psychological impact of an integer? Like people try and price stuff for $0.99 instead of $1? Do other stocks you guys know of traditionally have resistance at integer amounts?
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Drop today is because investors have gotten burned for the last few earnings reports and are chickening out. But it's reaction based on history, not on any new information.
One of these earnings reports is going to mark the end of the short hypothesis. Want to be there for it. Bracing for my second trip through earnings.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
leapfrog homepage also showing leapreader front and center.. seems leapreader indeed is what was under the veil.
I'm in essentially the same boat. Been around here since November, cost basis $9.20. Pretty surprised at the last earnings report and just waiting for the upward price correction.

from sell, to hold, now to buy
for what it's worth
Sentiment: Buy
Used to be sell, now it's hold. Make of it what you will.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
New products may make it more difficult to sell older versions so it may be as Rclay said a move to clear up inventory for new releases
The better the company does the more the shorts seem to see the demise right around the corner. But although the stock isn't going up like it should, the downwards movement is hardly exciting either recently. Hopefully some of those guys tire out just as longs have tired out.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Agreed - if there wasn't a strong case the stock would go up, it would be ridiculous to present at a conference on growth stocks and take questions from people pointing out the recent behavior of the share price. Should be a green day for LF.
I got a very quick reply, at least.
"They are due to be released on March 27, 2013
Amy Mitchell
Executive Assistant
U.S. Geothermal Inc."
I agree, it seems pretty bad not to post that 10 days before a potential release. I just emailed the company to get that date. I'll let you know if they get back to me.
anyone yet know when reporting day is?
I am simply saying I expect management to "take note" when shares trade at $8.20. I am not suggesting all the exaggerated things you are suggesting. It represents a significant price.
not saying it's their fault - I'm just making the point that when the price gets that low, they start feeling the pressure in their wallets because some of them bought in at that price.
Insiders need vasoline once price gets below $8.20.
Interesting point of view by the Ormat rep:
"Curiously, Thomsen says, low natural gas prices may create an opportunity for the geothermal industry.
Utilities that otherwise might be aghast at the thought of adding higher-priced geothermal power into their mix might be more open to the possibility if prices generally are headed down. Consumers might not want to pay an extra penny for geothermal power when rates are going up, he says, but they might not object if their rates went down by 3 cents rather than 4 cents if a utility made a long-term commitment to geothermal."
Yahoo Finance news piece. Based on techincals of a MACD and some thinking that earnings in 2013 may not be as high as Zacks originally thought, for whatever reasons. Not much in the message and don't agree that these factors will guide the share price but there's at least their explanation.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
$4 accomplishes the same thing. I'm not trying to set a price target - I'm just proposing a strategy to limit short sales based on how brokers decide to lend stocks. If anyone knows that this has no effect, then let this be known. I think it does affect the # of shares available to short. It's very easy to set a high limit sell.
Look maybe there is a misunderstanding. Fine, put $11 or $40. The point is just that if there is an outstanding sell order, at some price, it changes the way the broker manages the stock.
