My Black Muslim Friend Defended Slavery

Then your black muslim friend is an idiot and worse. See? It's easy. Some people are hopelessly ignorant, stupid, racist or worse. I happen to know a great many Muslims that would be embarrassed to be associated with your friend, as I know a great many Christians who are ashamed of what comes out of the mouths of some of their so-called co-religionists. But I have no problem with it, I don't blame the faith. Claiming to be one of the faithful, any faith, or even non-faith as it were (atheists), does not confer upon you any wisdom or intelligence. Frankly, it's easy to spot the ignorant and hateful, not sure why people have a problem with that.

Great post blutarsky. Pretty much what I was thinking but too angry to articulate properly in an earlier post. You nailed it. Effectively 'risk free' mega-financing and deceptive practices have poisoned capitalism. What was the point of winning the cold war? So that the 'new' Party members can take their seats at the Politburo or High Council and rule like Saudi Princes? This is pathetic. The Greek finance minister might be a socialist or a kommie but he's the only one staring reality in the face right now and telling it like it is. Do they expect him to make up another pack of lies to keep this saga going, like all the Greek gvts before his? It's time for truth, and Greece's laying it on the line will ultimately make it possible for the larger truth to be told, the edifice come crumbling down and this time rebuilt with proper construction practices and materials. Countries like Italy, Spain, France, Ireland and others, with a combined economy almost half as large as the US should man up and understand that what happens to Greece now will happen to them and kicking the can down the road once again just keeps this foolishness going.

How many CIVILIANS died when the USS Vincenze's brave captain ordered the shoot down of that Iranian Airbus 9 years later? 295? Something like that. How many Iranian civilians died under the brutal rule of US installed Shah after the US orchestrated coup of democratically elected Iranian leader in 1953? How many died fighting your ally, Saddam, in the Iran-Iraq war, after US supplied weapons support, intelligence, etc? (See the lovely photo of Rumsfeld shaking hands with the good ole boy). Just how many human beings has the US killed or helped kill in that part of the world in the last few decades? But of course, non-white/christian/US citizens are not human in your eyes.

That's what it would take. Even then, AMZN could deliver Cloud services and foodstuffs to the 200M man army the Antichrist is supposed to raise, easy $1000/share after that.

The skies will grow dark with drones, creating a drone 'winter' of sorts. Takes care of global climate warming change or whatever it is. In fact, we'll have to increase our greenhouse emissions 10X just to keep the ocean from freezing solid.

Yes, they do, especially Colonel Fitts character. He hates gays, liberals, dems, all kinds of miscreants. You'll like it.

Illustrated nicely by the headlines, a cluster-pluck of opinions, especially Google.

Mav, time to watch American Beauty again. You are brilliantly portrayed, particularly in the last 10 minutes, by Chris Cooper (Colonel Fitts). Just come out already before you lose it completely and do something terrible. Think about it. Watch the movie. You don't have to be Colonel Fitts, you could emancipate yourself.

There was a headline somewhere today suggesting Nas could hit 10K by 2016. Why not? Now that it's made up all the ground it lost after dot.bomb, the road is clear and free, all is forgotten and forgiven.

That can be true, but I'm not sure if it is being religious that makes the difference. Many atheists are perfectly content as well, just not too many on this board, lol. Same goes for most of the religious on this board. Militant variety of both are not content, not calm and certainly not stress free. Any doubt in your mind that mav would have all those he labels non-believers/kommies/gays locked up, marginalized or worse, if he could? Maybe you would as well, that's not stress free, that's a God complex, very different than being religious. I know those people of whom you speak, most of my own family actually, but they display none of the self-righteousness, intolerance and downright cruelty that is often displayed here.. Militant atheists do same. Frankly, I am not a believer, but it does bug me when people set out to humiliate believers, because I know the believers in my world are beautiful people, and they are partially fashioned by their faith, and I don't appreciate them being ridiculed. That said, in the Catholic tradition, the bible is not interpreted literally and yes, officially, the Vatican endorses Evolution, so it makes it easier for me. It also spends puts more import into the Gospels, some of the fundies seem to be consumed by the roaring bigotry and venom found in the Old Testament. Just do unto others, follow the golden rule, and you will essentially be happy and stress free to the extent you can be.

Don't give them any ideas. They'll do it 10lbs at a time. It'll cost them $100 per delivery and they'll charge $20, but revenue will skyrocket.

Everything is delivered by drone now. It's like those old Bugs Bunny and Wyle E. Coyote, Genius cartoons. Just send in the request and wait by the mailbox, or in this case, at home, drone will be by within seconds, minutes at most. This also applies to coal and iron ore and rolled steel and stuff like that. Oh, and bakken oil too apparently, no pipeline necessary. Jees, get with the program. Railways are old hat, they are even working on drones that will pick up and move people from place to place.

Sure, but it is threatening the very core of what made America, America. In the end, ugly as it often was, business trumped everything, and the laws attendant to business would do you in if you couldn't adapt. This is no longer the case. There was always some of this I guess, but nowhere near the scale we see today. What makes this different than soviet style economics? Only that the politburo is now made up of WS execs and CEOs, they enjoy the exclusivity that Party members used to in the old Kremlin. Fortunately, that system was not alone, nor omnipresent in the world and had to contend with free market capitalism, which eventually did it in. Thankfully, Gorbachev appeared at this crucial crossroads or the result may have been a nuclear holocaust for all of us. No such competition now, this faux-market is omnipresent with the full weight of the US Military behind it, and no such 'man of the moment' exists. This is toxic and will lead to metastasis, for the economy and finally for liberty itself. Thanks for putting up with my rants. Shop elsewhere, you seem to have done quite well, you can afford it.

Great, but I think you are missing the point entirely. What happened to capitalism and fair business practices? AMZN Is essentially dumping, and will continue doing so as long as irrational exuberance and FED policy allows it to continue. By then, Bezos hope is that most of his competition, that has been playing by very different rules, the harsh and uncompromising rules of business, will be starved out, the private businesses will most certainly be. Why compete? Why bother if AMZN and others like it can starve you to death while they continually quench their appetites at quasi-government (FED) and WS coffers? The hypocrisy of WS when it comes to corporate welfare is beyond imagination. Because darling public companies like AMZN are no longer judged and valued by common market sense, they have the equivalent of nukes against flintlocks. This isn't just wrong and unfair and immoral and all those other sentimental, now seemingly obsolete value judgments, it is patently un-American.

  • df2830 df2830 Apr 24, 2015 10:58 AM Flag

Easy money and the resulting irrational valuations (bubble) have given monstrous, money losing enterprises like AMZN the wiggle room to do as they please without concern for what used to be hard business metrics, or put simply, the art of making money. AMZN over the years has essentially been treated like a biotech on the cusp of a great discovery, one that never quite arrives but the company assure us it is getting closer, just one more Q, one more year, one more foray into another business. If AMZN does make money some day, it will be because this perverse FED spawned paradigm has given it cover to do what it likes, while most businesses that it competes against, some public, but especially small private businesses, must actually deliver or perish. It's hard to compete against a behemoth that should have been long dead and buried if not for the distortions of FED policy and WS cover. And people complain about the USPS, what a joke.
