  • Pot is here to stay.... this team is looking to capitalize on the tsunami that is pot legalization.. 1 Billion shares priced at 0.0001 does not attract the type of investors that this company wants.... a long term move to make this company respectable starts with this reverse split.... the goal is to build up the pot business... spin it out for a big profit... and/or once it becomes legal use artists as a way to market the brand.... this is a good long term move

Friday 1150 might be possible... down 17 points in pre-market today (Tues). the Euro is headed towards 1.00 = 1.00 dollar... that can't be good for PCLN's bottom line... last year the Euro was 1.20, 1.25 = 1.00... that's big chunk of change to lose....

I agree with you 100%. I used PCLN for all of my trip needs. A company I work for uses them too. BUT that has nothing to do with the stock price. Is the company growin profits? Will the fall of the Euro hurt profits? etc. just because the business seems to be run very well and the company is making profits does not mean the stock price will go up... ask Apple shareholders about what I speak of ......

Why? I don't see PCLN at 1150 anytime soon... and I have been a bear regarding this stock.. I didn't think they would meet their number last quarter and they did... what makes you see a 65 point drop come Monday?

unless you are a favored stock... those stocks don't seem to come down no matter what the news or fundamentals... PCLN may be in the most favored stock category

  • Google fiber, good idea, now phone service, I thought economic growth was coming from NEST? What about drones? MOT was a bust... I am happy for Google longs. The stock was in the toilet at $495.. but seriously though everytime you turn around Google is into some new business .. that isn't making them as much money as search.... while FB is beating their brains in with mobile ads... I know a lot of big institutions love Google and the stock won't be going down much anytime soon... but now they will be into phone service? Seems like GOOG is floundering. I appreciate any and all discussion on Google...

100% a Wall Street play.. fundamentals said this stock should fall... strong dollar weak Euro... growth in Europe is what has driven PCLN in the past... Europe was/is slowing; Russia has tanked, Greece is Greece; terrorism world wide, EXPE reports weak numbers... PCLN HAD to be next.. had to be... NOT... I was buying into the thesis myself.... BUT... I did see a chance to make some upside money... which I need.... picked off some calls here and there as the stock went up... did a straddle into earnings (wise move on my part)... and BANG .. PCLN is up $95 on the day... wow.. Wall Street at it's finest.... now the shoe should drop... management did say weakness going forward... the Euro is down to 1 = 1.14...Russia is still in the tank and Greece is Greece..... do I buy the 1300 calls or the 1100 puts for the end of March?

  • diltiazem diltiazem Feb 19, 2015 8:36 AM Flag

I was a naysayer.. but I straddled so....

like I said... "I've been around long enough to know that a lock isn't really a lock"... and sure enough the stock smashes excpectations even as the fundamentals said the stock should go down!! glad I straddled!!

    PCLN Headwinds

    by otaopp Feb 17, 2015 10:46 AM

@otaopp.. bulls are usually have a blind spot for anything that runs contrary to their bullish thesis.... so you pointing out "headwinds" will not get you many positive responses from "bulls"... everything that you wrote is all true..... and I actually have posted similar sentiments on this board.. however... Wall Street is all about deception and misdirection... while the naked eye says that PCLN can not have an upside surprise given dollar/euro changes, slowing markets in Europe, Russia and Asia increased competition, etc... the final move in the stock after earnings may well be upward.. base upon "margins" or "outlook" .. who knows what the market will "key on" after earnings.... it if were just a similar profit and loss proposition we that trade would all be millionaires.. but it isn't... "we" don't set the rules "they" do... as small time traders "we" look for clues.. for ways to exploit what "they" do for "our" profit.. PCLN is a trickly one... all signs say sell... buy puts.... but I've been around long enough to know that a lock isn't really a lock...

  • If someone here would like to articulate their thoughts on why this stock will go up after earnings I would very much like to read your thoughts.

Although I believe the stock will go down after earnings have been buyng calls here and there to make a few bucks. Last week I bought some 2/20/15 1200 calls.. sold them this morning at $4.50... nice profit... I turned around and bought 5 2/20/15 1,175calls ..if the stock pops after earnings I will make a few bucks.. if not I am out $4,700. I haven't figured out my downside position yet. ..the 1175 calls are easily in the money on a PCLN beat. The question is what downside position to take to make up the $5K I'm going to lose should they miss? On a miss the stock is off 100 points easily...The 1050 puts are 3.60/3.90 as of this second... buying 10 of this will give me a nice straddle -70/+55 ... easily within reach either way the stock goes.. plus I will make up for my losses on either side? any thoughts? worse case scenario is the stock is flat? then I'm dead money on both sides... the chances of that happening are almost zero however...

STOP IT... Apple is not building a car!!

    by diltiazem Feb 15, 2015 6:16 PM

Apple doesn't make phones. Apple makes powerful handheld computers that have the ability to make phone calls. Phones don't cost $700. Computers do. The iPhone and the iPad are very powerful computing (and communication devices). Apple is studying how to use an automobile within it's ecosystem. It is not in Apple's DNA to make a car. Apple's DNA is to make the software that will allow a car/truck/etc. to integrate into the Apple ecosystem. To allow a car to be a mobile data collection point or a part of a network. They are not looking to become a car manufacturer.

  • Man oh man do you people have no understanding of the company that you have invested in and have followed for years. Apple IS NOT building and electric car. Apple is a computer company. Apple is a software company. Apple integrates software into hardware for a unique consumer experience. Apple is working on the car as a large mobile computing device. Cars with hard drives and a version of iOS that integrates onboard entertainment, mapping, location services, the car as a wifi device networked to one's home. Location sevices that will open the garage door automatically when the car gets close to home without pushing a button. The possibilites are endless with the car as the device. Apple does not need to build a car. Apple will work with car companies to have iOS be the default OS with integration of any and all Apple devices. The automobile will be he ultimate IOT device. Understand Apple and you will get away from the Apple is building a car thought....

nice post.. I have saying the same thing for years... Wall Street has disdain for Apple.. they hitched their wagon to MSFT in the past and GOOG now.. wrong on both counts.. Apple all the way.. see my many posts on this subject

  • diltiazem diltiazem Feb 7, 2015 2:38 PM Flag

Great reply. The point of the constant "bashing" of Apple regarding the "slowing" of iPad sales is that it keeps with the narrative of Apple not "growing". Wall Street pushes up Google by 30 points even with it's earnings "miss". Google's changing business model that clearly demonstrates Google is on a slow decline. Yet Apple having just reported the largest quarterly revenue and profit in the history of man see's it's stock comes down due to concerns about iPad sales!! It's a long running joke that isn't even funny. Wall Street is invested in the Google growth story while at the same time hammering Apple (the company that is darn near perfect and growing). Fortunately Mr. Cook is trying to take the ball out of Wall Street's court by buying back shares thereby lifting the stock price to a more accurate valuation. Keep Wall Street from dragging down the stock price w/ stupid iPad sales stories.

  • It would seem the case against PCLN is being made via EXPE:
    1. Earnings decline in a competitive market
    2. revenue shortfall due to currency exchange rates
    3. lower fuel cost not materially push up travel plans

    any thoughts

  • diltiazem diltiazem Feb 5, 2015 5:00 PM Flag

PCLN is down now after hours.... it may slide below $1000 tomorrow... EXPE was supposed to be proxy on US travel w/ PCLN a proxy on Europe.. if EXPE missed because US travel is off there is no way PCLN doesn't miss too.... everyone has been thinking that.. now that EXPE has reported weakness PCLN can't help but be off also...
