Mr. Greenspan’s comments to the Council on Foreign Relations came as Fed officials were meeting in Washington, D.C., and expected to announce within hours an end to the bond purchases.

He said the bond-buying program was ultimately a mixed bag. He said that the purchases of Treasury and mortgage-backed securities did help lift asset prices and lower borrowing costs. But it didn’t do much for the real economy.

“Effective demand is dead in the water” and the effort to boost it via bond buying “has not worked,” said Mr. Greenspan. Boosting asset prices, however, has been “a terrific success.”

Since November 2008, every time there has been an interruption in the Fed’s quantitative easing program, the stock market has gone down substantially.

Will that happen again this time?

Well, the market is certainly primed for it. We are repeating so many of the very same patterns that we saw just prior to the last two financial crashes.

For example, there have been three dramatic peaks in margin debt in the last twenty years.

One of those peaks came early in the year 2000 just before the dotcom bubble burst.

The second of those peaks came in the middle of 2007 just before the subprime mortgage meltdown happened.

And the third of those peaks happened earlier this year.

Sorry kdkid, take a look at the chart since inception.. I think you could be wrong on $6.00 or $7.00 maybe $5.40 would be a better bet.

I thought you would give this one a big thumbs up? This fund wont see $5.50 again.

You are the one that is confused. Read what I said.. "I'm NOT BUYING ANYMORE GABUX."
I collected the divi for 11,560 shares and sold 11,500 shares. I have no idea why you are rambling on about the 2% penalty of course I know what the prospectus says.
I have been in GABUX since 2010 so I guess that makes me a short term trader here? I could probably buy this back at $4.00 in a couple of years but I;m sure the divi will be more like .03 by then. If you actually believe that paying out a 16% divi at mostly roc doesn't lower the NAV then fine stay here as long as you like. As for me and most other investors who have watched this lose 50% of it's NAV since inception we will be moving on. If your reinvesting all your distributions since 2000 and are not retired it may work out for you better than for me.

Because the economy is weak.. QE3 was boosting stock prices and weakening the dollar. As the dollar strengthens stocks go down. Also the FED is indicating it will raise rates sometime next year and utilities go down when rates go up.

I'm sure you will see the effects of no QE3 over the next few weeks.

LOL, Maybe you can tell me all about it when the market takes a dump. I can't believe you don't understand that GABUX is tied to the stock market. LMAO

No I wont buying anymore GABUX. Staying in cash for a while and looking at some stocks and funds that don't loose value by using ROC.

If there is a cut it will most likely start in January 2015. It wouldn't surprise me to see them do it though the PPS is too low to support the .07 dividend for much longer in my opinion. The end of QE wont help this fund along with the rates going up next year.

Also notice how this board gets a lot quieter when the NAV goes down.

The FED ended the bond buying program this fund will now resume it's free fall. I sold half my shares 11,500 yesterday and will hold the other half until I get a better feel for the market over the next couple of months. I'm still holding NRF, NCZ, PSEC,and ERC I bought more SDRL today.
