John , I disagree , I think MDU has been going down in price, because it was Over priced. About 4 months ago I made and posted on this board a Estimate of High price on MDU Stock at $ 35.85. so It went to $ 36 and change..
Today at Noon the S+P 500 is down 22.50 points or 1.15 % and MDU with a Beta of .73 is down $ 1.62 or 5.14 %. MDU has a forward P/E of 16.5 .
AAPL a stock I purchased 15 months ago Also has a similar forward P/E of 13.47 and a beta of .74 , pays a Almost identical Percentage of dividend as MDU does. , and this stock is down .less then 1 %.
So I completely disagree that the Potential of Moving interest Rates is MDU stock Problem for the last 3 or so Weeks.
One other side note, today is the 3 rd anniversary of the S+P Debt downgrade on USA debt... GLTA.. don

Britain is going to close its embassy in Libya from Monday and evacuate its staff amid the latest round of intense fighting among rival armed groups there.
"Reluctantly we've decided...to leave and temporarily suspend embassy operations in Libya. We will be back as soon as security allows," British Ambassador to Libya Michael Aron said on his Twitter account.
He added that the embassy staff would continue to function, operating from neighboring Tunisia.
Meanwhile, the British Foreign Office said in a statement, “The British Embassy in Tripoli will not be able to provide consular assistance after August 4, after which date we plan temporarily to suspend operations.”
The development comes after more than 400 Chinese nationals were evacuated from Libya on Saturday
Mississippi has counties and Louisiana has parishes . This is a copy past of a July 29th Face book page . go to FB and type in Tuscaloosa Marine Shale.. don
Folks occasionally ask questions about the number of wells that have been drilled and/or that are producing.
Easy question to ask. Not so easy to answer.
But, I'm going to give it my best effort.
Here is a summary by county and parish of wells, to my knowledge, currently producing as of today in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale play that were drilled since 2007.
(Company names given are current producers whether that company originally drilled the well or not.)
Amite County - 18 wells...ECA - 13, GDP - 5.
Wilkinson County - 5 wells...ECA - 2, GDP - 2, HK - 1
Avoyelles Parish - 4 wells, all EOG
West Feliciana - 2 wells, both GDP
East Feliciana - 3 wells, all GDP
St. Helena - 5 wells, ...ECA - 3, GDP - 2
Tangipahoa - 3 wells, all GDP
In summary, that's 40 producing wells as of today. 18 EnCana, 17 Goodrich, 4 EOG, and 1 Halcon.
Please note there are an additional 4 wells that were drilled and are not producing that aren't counted, 2 EOG, 2 GDP.
There are also an additional 15 wells in the process of being drilled and produced.
So, that's a total of 59 wells that have been spudded, to the best of my knowledge.
I'm not sure if this will quench your thirst for knowledge on the subject of TMS drilled/producing wells or only arouse your curiosity further...we shall see!
By the way, the largest producing well in the TMS to-date is the Encana Anderson 18H-1. The second largest, but not by far and brought in over 8 months later, is the Goodrich Crosby 12-1H-1.
The Sherco plant is NOT designed to burn any other fuel then Coal. and supplies 25 percent of the electricity. This article from Star tribune. don
The plant, about 45 miles northwest of Minneapolis, generates nearly a quarter of the electricity Xcel delivers in a five-state Midwest region.
Xcel Energy is urging the board to focus on getting railroads to reduce a shipping backlog that could "impact the reliability of our electric grid."
BNSF is the sole rail service to the plant, which can serve some 1.9 million homes, according to Xcel.
Problems have left Xcel some 811,000 tons short of its ideal fuel inventory.
The plant is not set up to burn natural gas; if it runs out of coal, it would stop producing electricity.
While it is unlikely that the plant would run out of coal, there would be dire consequences if it did, said Tom Imbler, Xcel's vice president of commercial operations. He said if such an event occurred on a peak energy-usage day in July or August, he didn't know if the system could sustain itself.
Utilities in Arkansas, Kansas and North Dakota have reported similar problems, according to the national association of nonprofit rural electric cooperatives.
MDU bought 50 % working interest in a NG plant near Belfield ND in 2010 and it is run in conjunction with Whiting. I wondered at this time If MDU was going to be involved More with the Natural gas processing going on in the Bakken..
NO way.. they let ONE OK eat their Lunch. ( OKE ) announced a few days ago the building of the 8th NG processing plant in the Bakken. since 2008 it makes you wonder how many gifts of Business MDU will let slide by them..
here is the list of one OK ng plants and capacity..
