Hare , as per NDLS, I think Mr. market will allow for a better price in 30-60 days. Sold my MPO yesterday near top and made a huge 1 %..but better then loosing. Also sold Amzn yesterday and both a small position in AREX..
Your comment ( And as for the Banana Republic, we have been irresponsible with our debt, but look around the world, we still look great compared to Europe, SA, Japan..... )
But I liken that to a leper in a leper colony , and this leper only has 3 spots and all the rest in colony have a bod full of spots.. When the )(*&^%$%^ hits the Fan in this world it is going to very ugly. With the Fed gov broke and a market collapse hits, what bone will you throw at those who VOTE for a living.. when the well is dry , the well is dry., with out all the EBT, and Food stamp money transfers the USA would be a Urban battle ground..
Have you wondered if the ISIS, or Iran, or Russia or others who hate the USA might rig/ trigger the economy and interest rates to rise exponentially . Hell their is More to war then Bullets and Bombs.. look at JP Morgan and the other banks that got hit again.. and HOW many are not saying anything..
A old time Friend always said the three things to trust are Bulllets, Brandy and the Bible.., but he never said in what order..
Have you bought any GDP?? I own some.. GLTA.. don

    AAPL is $ 102.00 per share and yields a 2 % yield, XLU is $ 42.80 and yields 3.57..
If I have to choose between 30 yr Treas. or one stock/etf and hold it for 30 years..i would take XLU..,Even with the bombarding of laws/regulations on Utilities , I believe the fate of the Stocks in the XLU are More secure then the 30 yr treas..IMHO at this time it is a #$%$ shoot if either will be reverent or Standing in 30 years.
I believe if the 10 yr treas went back to 5 % the stock market ( using S+P 500 ) as proxy would drop 25 %, the Profits for corporations should be good for the years going forward until the Junk Bonds/or Corporate bonds need to be re-issued.
Hare, did you notice that the CBO said 2014 year long growth to be 1.5 %, well that level of growth will not support Job growth or economic expansion.. Also if the debt of the New Banana republic had to be refinanced at 5 % on 10 Yr treas. I would if country could carry interest load on 18 Trillion $$$.. don

  • Harvest to start Sept 2. copied from Todays Billing Gazette.. don
Even for a bunch of sugar beet farmers, the challenges of this year’s harvest are little bit sticky.

For the first time in recent memory, the Western Sugar Cooperative will fire up its Billings factory and begin harvesting beets Sept. 2. Farmers say they could be pulling 37 tons an acre from their fields on average, possibly a record average and roughly 10 tons an acre more than last year.

“It’s just the overall conditions of the climate,” said Nick Sian, who farms beets between Custer and Pompeys Pillar. “We had timely rains to get it started.”

Not just timely rains, but ample moisture. One of the snowiest winters on record meant the soil was wet deep down, even before spring rains began. Moisture levels remained near or above average in some cases through July, according to the National Weather Service.

Nighttime temperatures were also fairly warm, meaning that crops of all kinds spent fewer mornings shivering in the cold earth and more time growing in favorable temperatures. At Sian’s family farm, every crop seemed to be beating historic averages.

There’s also the science behind genetically engineered beets. Sugar beet crops have been near record average for roughly the past five years since farmers switched to beets designed to resist the effects of glyphosate, an herbicide.

But the huge sugar beet crop means there’s little margin for error in getting the beets to the Billings factory and converted to sugar, said Randall Jobman, Western Sugar’s senior agriculturalist based in Billings.

To get as many of the sugar beets processed as possible, the harvest has to begin now, Jobman said. There’s winter on the other end of October and there’s no guarantee the harvest can continue once the snow flies, or, worse yet, the ground freezes. Just a couple years ago, an early October freeze derailed the Western harvest.

I do the grocery shoping in our family and over the course in life have worked in grocery stores, that said, the real inflation is now the can of Beans , or vegetables is 14 ounces instead of 16 ounces. Many packages of lunch meat are 7 ozs instead of 8 ozs. loaves of bread are 1.25 lbs and not 1.5 lbs.
Sausage is sold as 14 ozs instead of the traditional 16 ozs.. the price also has had upward creep.
A week ago the financial pundits were complaining on a 4.5 % home loan.. and if the rate went to 5 % that housing could collapse. ( his words not mine ). Heck the cheapest home loan I ever had was 8 % and we worked like crazy to pay down the mortgage to hold down the interest costs.
What gets me with Unemployment and Employment numbers, industrial production and Retail sales, they Seasonally adjust them.. WHY.. Ford , Chevy, Chrysler can give accurate ( Not seasonally adjusted ) Sales numbers by 8 AM MST the first day after the end of the month..
All of the govermints numbers should be real time. cause computers add, and are instantaneous..
A Brokerage house buy/sale numbers are updated in a Micro second..so if our gov. got off the horse and cart days, life could move on.. Good luck investing.. don

CNBC was talking about the usage f Junk Bonds by many corporation to refinance debt. this is the 3 rd year of this event.. I assume all companies with better credit qualities are also doing refinancing.
When one can clip 2 % interest rate off 400-6000 Million , you are talking about REAL money that flows Instantly to the bottom line, no matter what industry you are in.
I also Use ticker ( TBT ) as a reflection of near instant interest rate sentiments.. When it comes to the 17 + Trillion $$ US debt the rate increase would stagger the amount of incurred interest charges for Uncle, so I believe this Administration will do its best to Jaw bone the rates low , at least until Jan of 2017.. JMHO.. don

If KMI paid $ 22 per share for DNR that is a 30 % + premium to a stock that has had a huge buy back from the company itself.
DNR does a REAL Lousy Job of Marketing themselves as a resource company. , their are 10 Billion BO to be brought to surface using EOR and the world does not Know or care.. As a shareholder it ticks me off..
