    Challenges in the Paradox basin?

    by jrchalley Sep 15, 2014 3:32 PM

MDU has previously announced a cost over run on this Dakota refinery.. I would look for another $ 25 million $$$ added to the number before it is done.
A master Electrician who has worked there for 6 months indicated they started approx. 2 weeks ago a 2- 10 hr per day shifts, working 13 days on and 1 off. they also increased the per diem to $ 100 per day... .don

Wyoming sugar beet growers have had a head start on the 2014 growing season from the beginning.
Producers planted the more than 30,000 acres of beets produced in Wyoming as much as three weeks early in some parts of the state. The late April planting dates have sugar factories in the state firing up for an early harvest.

Promising market trends and solid growing conditions are cause for optimism among producers.
“We have a very good crop coming this year if our estimate is correct,” said Kent Wimmer, director of governmental affairs at Western Sugar Cooperative.

Western Sugar officials anticipate a crop of 29.5 tons per acre at their Torrington sugar processing facility. Western Sugar has already started early harvest at the Lovell processing site and will officially begin harvest Oct. 2. Torrington will follow shortly after, on Oct. 9.
In the central regions of the state, Wyoming Sugar Co. officials are reporting what could be a record crop in beet fields in Big Horn, Washakie and Fremont counties. They plan to begin harvest Sept. 29.

“My original estimate was 29.7 tons per acre,” said Myron Casdorph, agriculture administrator at Wyoming Sugar Co. “If we have a nice harvest, which would help us get the beets out in a timely fashion, we could have well over a 30-ton-per-acre record crop. It could be the best crop we’ve ever seen.”

Representatives of the oil and gas industry in Illinois expressed outrage Wednesday about the latest draft of rules that would govern fracking in the state, saying its doubtful "anyone will even bother" to apply for a permit to drill here if the regulations move forward.

Brad Richards, executive vice president of the Illinois Oil and Gas Association, said the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, which has been charged with outlining regulations to govern the high impact form of drilling for oil and natural gas, overreached in its latest version of the rules, which could be implemented as soon as next week. The IDNR's charge was to draft the rules based on a somewhat prescriptive law passed by legislators more than a year ago to regulate the drilling method, which has led to massive oil and natural gas booms in states around the country.

"I question whether a permit application will even be submitted for consideration," Richards said. "There are some tough hurdles."

  • this is a copy /paste from zero hedge( dotcom ) on viewership..
Some observations: for the core 25-54 demo, CNBC's Business Day segment is down every month this year compared to last year, with August's 28,000 literally a step in the abyss compared to last year, as viewership plummeted by a near record 30% (with ad revenue following close behind). In fact, the last time CNBC was up in Business Day year to year was over two years ago, in July 2012.

And the punchline: this was the lowest rated month in the core demographic since February 1993! In fact, in CNBC's entire Nielsen-rated history, there is only one month in history when demo viewership was lower, back in November 1992, when demo viewership was just 1000 less at 27,000.

At this rate, in the next month or two, CNBC should make history when Nielsen reports that its viewers have dropped to a never before seen low, paradoxically enough, as the increasingly unwatched financial channel cheers on the very same market-rigging policies that are forcing retail investors to give up on anything finance-related, and crushing the station into ad-revenue and eyeball oblivion.

  • We had 36 degrees for over night low, Hettinger ND had 34 degrees, the elevation is approx. 2800 ft.. tonight it is going to be approx. 43 for a low..
The Small grain in SW ND is slow to harvest, I am hearing about mold on standing grain, way to much moisture.. looks like it may freeze dry this year again.
Any thought on NG build/shortage this winter.?? sounds like Propane is good here, and in Midwest. Local costs $ 1.49-$ 1.55 per gallon.. but it might take a lot to dry corn in MN and Iowa this year.. don

NO, MDU does not Have any Fracc sand..
The Knife River division is in charge of aggregates, they have own web page. the Fracc sand is located in SE MN ( along and near the Mississippi River from MPLS to the south)
Also huge fracc sand mines are in eastern Wisconsin, starting at Hudson area and going to Illinois. I believe they extend approx 100 miles east of MN border..The Silica sand was deposited by the glaciers, and washout from glacial rivers.
There has been discussion of a possible 1 or 3 frac sand mines on Federal land in the SW Black Hills area, but I think it will be till 2017 before any permits could be given...
My Brother in law is a freight dispatcher in MN and they are hauling Fracc sand from Mid Wisc to NE Colorado by truck, because they can not get any Train cars.. it is funny you ask , because I ask him today how busy he was with frac sand and here is his e-mail comment.. don
    (
This weekend I’m moving 100 loads of 30/50 frac sand out of Marshfield WI to Denver, CO $174.00 per ton about $4.25 per mile. We are also moving sand out of Woodbury, MN to Sidney, MT @ $100.00 per ton, Next week Alama Center WI to Genoa, NE $64.00. Plant to Plant move. Why, you got leads on something )

3 years ago Hess had sign a JV with Toredo to explore/drill/fraccc the Paris Basin.. Toredo had like 300,000 acres from the French gov in land leases. the TOC of the Paris basin was greater then the TOC of the Bakken.
Well the )(*&^%$#@#$%^&* French Banned the fraccing after a 1 year study sponsored by vast quanities of wine.. Toredo stock went to hell in 2 days when I was gone. and hess backed out, and now ZAZA folded itself into the shell of Toredo..

I am setting back just watching..i have a small position and I wonder by the end of sept if this stock might be $ 15.00..
What concerns me is China, Japan ,Aus, EU and US are all soft in economy, gdp growth. Sure the US auto makers had good Aug numbers, but they all have huge promotions, discounts. The only country that is moving ( so they say ) is India.I sold all my Indian etf;s about 6 weeks ago.
I bought some SWC( Stillwater mining ) yesterday, put in a bid of $ 17.74 , have bought and sold this stock 9 times this year.. I was hoping AA would have a good pull back so I could buy it again..
My real concern is when will a huge Malaise come over the country, because of econo, and Political events..I am expecting a 0 speak any day , similar to the Carter Crisis of Confidence speech given end of June 25 yrs ago..i wonder if the country will settle into the same funk like it did in 79-82..
Maybe I concern myself to much..maybe I will take up Golf and run in the 2016 Pres. election.. I think I will get Pat Paulson as my VP candidate..so what if he has been dead for a decade, most of the world would never notice. they seem to be concerned with Selfies and Nude pic of Movie stars..Did anyone wonder if they Never took and posted the Nude pics, they would not have to worry about a hack on their account, or did they Hack their own account?? the cloud issue is hurting my AAPL today..
Are you following the NG weekly fill rate..is NG going to $ 6.00 per mcft in 6 months or less..
