Actually, your news is old. Today, on Investopedia, Intel and Micron announced that they are making a new chip: "Intel
(NASDAQ: INTC) and
(NASDAQ: MU) recently announced the development of a next-gen memory chip that will be 1,000 times faster
1,000 times more durable than the NAND memory chips currently on the market. NAND chips are used for internal storage in mobile devices and solid-state disks (SSDs) for tablets and PCs.
Intel and Micron expect the new technology, known as 3D Xpoint, to arrive next year. Assuming these NAND chips hit the market as scheduled, other major NAND manufacturers like Toshiba, SanDisk, and Samsung could be sent scrambling to catch up.
If 3D Xpoint chips are really a thousand times more durable than existing NAND chips, they could prove enormously popular, since NAND chips currently used in SSDs have limited write cycles, which shorten the life of the disk."
I have been holding for a very long time. Are you, mr Wilson(I presume the volley ball in the Tom Hanks film), going to short or go long this time around? You seem to be waffling as of late. Any big predictions for the short/long term?
