Economics has never been a zero sum game. For example, when you drill deeper, you will uncover that organic food sales represent only 4% to 6% percent of a $Trillion++ grocery industry.
At current growth levels it might reach 12% to 16 % by 2025. So, where you perceive: scarcity and competition, I see expansion, and abundance -- an ever expanding universe of opportunity, if you will -- for savvy niche players, with outstanding mgmt teams capable of executing a credible strategy, like; Natural Grocers.
This sector is expanding rapidly to claim a larger portion of the grocery industry pie. It's a secular, cross generational trend, embraced by baby-boomers thru millennials!
I am long Whole Foods, but I see this specialty organic sector, as a top grower and discovered NGVC, by accident -- as the subject of discussion -- one several, Seeking Alpha discussion threads.
From the looks of it, this company seem to have the current qtr. numbers in the bag, and Zack's with other analysts -- plus; several NGVC longs on this board -- seem to think this stock will be a big winner this year.
I do share the opinion that the stock is way, WAY oversold, and I have started to add to my position on the dips.
Good luck to all!
