Obesity on the Rise in South Korea
Koream Journal, News Report, Posted: Mar 07, 2014
As the Korean economy has grown over the last few decades, so has the number of obese and highly obese people, which experts say is correlated to income levels, the JoongAng Daily reports.
In the last 15 years, the percentage of people with “extreme obesity” — defined by a body-mass index above 30 — has more than doubled to 5 percent of adults, while those considered just obese — with a BMI above 25 — rose to 32 percent, up from 26 percent in 1998, according to a study released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Experts found that poor people were more likely to be obese. About 34 percent of people at the lowest income level were considered obese in 2012, compared with 29.5 percent of above-average income individuals.
“The reason poorer people are more susceptible to obesity is that they are more likely to eat junk food,” Oh Sang-woo, a doctor at Dongguk University Hospital in Ilsan, told the JoongAng Daily. “It’s a vicious cycle. They usually don’t have enough time or money to do work out, so they become more overweight.”
Always Investigate, Research, Analyse!!!
Even if rumor only we know the stock is going to 15 sooner or later on it's own!
Good luck longs!
I'm so gullible to believe Globe n Mail???? mamama I'm stating the fact from a Canadian reputed newspaper!!
What your opinion should mean more to me???
No cheap offers period!!!!!! Bbry will make it on its own unless offers are extremely tempting!
The Canada–South Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) is a free trade agreement between Canada and South Korea. The agreement was concluded at the Blue House in Seoul on 11 March 2014 by Stephen Harper, the Prime Minister of Canada, and Park Geun-hye, the President of South Korea. It is the first free trade agreement between Canada and an Asian nation.
Upon full implementation, Canada will eliminate 97.8% of its tariff lines for goods imported from South Korea, and South Korea will eliminate 98.2% of its tariff lines for goods imported from Canada.
Then I'd like to see the reaction of shorts!
BTW it takes at least 2-3 months to finalize a tech merger! So they will always deny unitl an official announcement is made.
A verbal or written proposal, talk with the CEO or other executives at a closed meeting all these could have happened. And the rumor could be true. But of course neither company can divulge more info or agree unitl the discussions or counter offer takes place at the board of directors table!
It's in Samsung best interest to deny this news as it's in the process of making an offer!
But for Bbry on the other hand , the rumour helps push the stock higher, huge marketing to other big players interested and also helps to negotiate for better deal! But the statement clearly says they haven't engaged in discussion which means they haven't received the offer yet or haven't replied to it!
Stay tuned this is becoming interesting!
Hold on to your shares this thing is going to fly! Short covering tomorrow for sure!
Blackberry gonna reject first offer and this thing going over $15
I guarantee you shorts are panicking! Short squeeze is imminent!
And Don't waste time Bbry will not sell less than ~ $20 I think!
Are you panicking here chum? This is carefully worded, I'm not sure what part you didn't get? "BlackBerry has not engaged in discussions..." Meaning that "if" there is an offer on the table from Samsung, this Press release would not be conflicting with a buyout proposal! Once Blackberry rejects the offer if there is one or counters it , then you will see a new Press Release.
Regardless if this is just a rumour, trust me this news shook everyone out. It's big, huge! And other big players are probably brainstorming right now and maybe thinking of bidding any time. Blackberry potential is big! I want them to make it on their own but the big players know that the sky is the limit with the technology that Blackberry owns, so they will scoop it before it's too expensive! my opinion!
This is from last month I think!
Q: What’s your main focus going forward?
A: Next year, we really have to focus on growth… the distribution channel. My biggest problem is the old traditional [System Access Fee revenue] coming down very rapidly. This is self-inflicted, also, in a way that I cannot stop it. As our BB10 [devices] gets more successful, like the Passport launch and the Classic launch, that SAF may even go further faster. My number one focus now for the next four quarters is to rebuild the distribution channel and sales force so that we can start selling more software in the BES 12 and the value added services… to cover the SAF decline.
There's no point in talking to a moron!
Everyone knows their revenue is down and will be for a while.
But the plan that's set for the company is good and will work!
And stop posting. You're definitley sounding desperate!
Hey dude, who makes the revenue estimates??
Morons like you do! What are they basing their estimates on?
Didn't these same stupid analysts predict the fall of Blackberry for the last couple of years!
Read the articles for the past few days! All these morons were upping their estimates on what ground? no idea!!
It's all a game to pump before the earnings!
But the reality is this company is solid!
