  • For all I know, this move will cause a rally...

Unfortunately, he should have done this a long, long time ago...before he was forced into it...Gus

"In light of the macroeconomic headwinds in oil, currency exchange and geopolitical issues affecting our business over the past year, I felt all the more compelled to flatten our organization and center our focus on improving our current products, broadening our aftermarket services and leaning our internal operations to achieve our short-term goal of EBITDA breakeven," Jamison said

  • GREAT Rumor...

2009....CMT-380 is the name of the newest hybrid electric concept car, built by 48 year-old Richard Hilleman, a former electrician at the Nuclear Test Site in Nevada, who is now Chief Creative Director for Electronic Arts, the video games company. The CMT-380 is powered by a microturbine, built by Capstone Turbine Corp.

Today...Apple has several hundred employees working secretly toward creating an Apple-branded electric vehicle, according to people familiar with the matter. They said the project, code-named “Titan,” has an initial design of a vehicle that resembles a minivan, one of these people said.

call me crazy, after all, I am a dog...

All press is good press, I'll bet Wright LOVES the Apple news...maybe he knows Hilleman and Cook...ya never know.

  • Here are four reasons big companies buy little ones:
Ever wonder why an industry giant swallows a minor player? John Warrillow offers up some explanations.

    1. To sell your product to their customers
First Research creates cheat sheets for salespeople who want to sound smart when they call on a new customer in an industry they are unfamiliar with. Dun & Bradstreet has hundreds of thousands of customers buying sales leads from its Hoovers division. Seeing an opportunity to cross-sell, D&B was willing to pay $22.5 million to Bobby Martin and his partners so it could sell First Research industry profiles to Hoovers' customers. If only a fraction of Hoovers' customers bite, the deal will pay off for D&B.

    2. To leverage your technology to make one of their products better
Google paid $25 million for DocVerse because it had built a better way for users to share documents. By swallowing DocVerse, Google is accelerating the adoption of its GoogleDocs platform.

    3. To get a hold of your smartest employees
In the hit TV series Mad Men, Sterling Cooper got acquired because of the creative genius of Donald Draper. While the players are fictional in this case, big ad agencies and other businesses often buy smaller ones for the people.

    4. To acquire a new place to sell their stuff
Bell Canada bought the Source last year to add 756 new stores to sell retail consumers phones, TVs and Internet access.

Costco leases all there trucks from PACCAR

Thanks for this post Alice...disforme vs. Al...ice-is-form-e? Whatever...

SA came out with the transcripts...here is the quote "We've got the Peterbilt truck that should be in the Costco here shortly for demonstration."

Peterbilt looks greener on the Paclease site: "On highways, city streets and job sites, you'll see Peterbilt's commitment to environmentally conscious trucks. Whether it's alternative fuel platforms like liquid or compressed natural (LNG and CNG) gas or electric hybrid engines, Petebilt's growing line of environmentally friendly trucks meets the needs of a wide range of operational requirements. This growing product line is an example of Peterbilt's commitment to delivering products that will reduce emissions, and provide the performance and economics that our customers need."

In any case, thank you for this post, I suspect Costco will generate press with this microturbine truck...it will be big and beautiful with press that Silicon Valley uses to promote Wrightspeed...it will not be the Wave truck...Costco vs. Walmart...lots of press, we win either way because either one of them and DoD will also adapt if the truck is a winner...

GLTA investors...even shortie if she is investing her nickels in Cappy...

    AIMHOGus

BTW: I've never felt better about this jewel....the ruble and oil stink, but the DoD hint suggests an incredible future...imagine Cappy as mission critical for our fine boys (and girls)...we may indeed be bought out if a GE-like company reads..they will want to kill (own) Cappy before it grows into a true competitor...the buyouts typically come just at the transition...the CEO talking about financing suggests that he wants to become a competitor with GE-types...hope poison pill in place...Blackrock accumulating speaks volumes....

Did you notice that your trick of dropping the SP at the open did not work this time?

Did you notice that your mindless posts today show that you did not even listen to the CC?

Did you notice price has been rising all day?

Did you notice low volume on what you thought would be a day of doom...sky falling...blah, blah, blah...

Nobody selling today, and that means TREND REVERSAL....

Now, collect your nickels and TRY HARDER...you work for me.

also find: "DOE, NREL Help DoD Enhance Energy Security"

it places the earlier Miramar study in context...if this hunch turns out, Cappy maybe gonna get some BIG DoDbusiness.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) are helping the U.S. government, including the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), deploy large-scale energy efficiency measures and renewable energy technologies to reduce costs, increase energy security, and meet federal mandates.

As the largest energy consumer within the U.S. federal government, DoD has long recognized the strategic impor- tance of energy to its mission and is particularly challenged to address energy security, reliability, and cost concerns. DoD has more than 500 military installations encompassing nearly 2 billion square feet of space, and had an annual installations energy bill of more than $4 billion in 2010.
With the help of expertise from DOE and NREL, DoD is establishing net zero energy installations, or NZEIs, which produce as much energy on-site as their buildings, facilities, and fleet vehicles consume.
DoD’s ability to reach net zero energy goals at a growing num- ber of installations will have a profound impact on its push toward energy security and surety—as best practices, strate- gies, and processes are replicated across all military branches.

The U.S. Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar in California is one example of a NZEI. To help the facility meet the DoD’s goal to get 25% of its energy from renew- ables by 2025, DOE and NREL performed an assessment at MCAS to evaluate the potential for achieving energy reduction goals.

    Great post Moon,

Google: "Targeting Net Zero Energy at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar: Assessment and Recommendations"

Search for microturbine in that document...I especially like the picture of Cappy's colored Marine-green.

it is a large report from 2010...it suggests the Marine win at Quantico is part of something BIGGER and planned over several years.

It appears Quantico may provide the needed demonstration for a full roll-out...if those are Cappys installed at Quantico, then the Marines consider our prodiucts part of "mission-critical"

"the project is serving as a demonstration of microturbine technology in order to determine if MCBQ should pursue additional microturbine projects to provide redundancy at mission critical facilities"

Moon, I am not sure if it posted, but I have a question:
Can you, anybody else here or IV post (with link) whether ANY other MT could sub for CAPPY according to the Quantico RFP? The RFP language was very specific with mention of MT kW of 200 X 5, series connection etc...really does sound like our MT.

Does anybody know Ameresco or Cappy IR well enough to call them and ask about this?

If Cappy lands this one, our technology, then our product and experience will speak for itself (just look at the New York skyline during Sandy), and the floodgates will open....BTW: The Marines pay with USD...Oorah!

  • This is a big deal...here is the money quote...

"the project is serving as a demonstration of microturbine technology in order to determine if MCBQ should pursue additional microturbine projects to provide redundancy at mission critical facilities"

    yes!

The purpose of this project is to provide a more reliable, secure, energy efficient, and cost- effective solution for providing high temperature hot water (HTHW) and electricity to Camp Barrett facilities. In addition, the project is serving as a demonstration of microturbine technology in order to determine if MCBQ should pursue additional microturbine projects to provide redundancy at mission critical facilities. Microturbine will be connected in parallel during normal operation. Emergency power will be produced by Microturbine system and will be used as emergency power in the event of loss of normal power from the utility (DVP). Microturbine power will be directed to only Mess Hall building and Heywood Hall building during emergency operation. Also, Microturbine system shall be able to manually restart in the event of power loss from the utility company by existing stand-by diesel generator for building 24162. Proposed new SF6 switches shall be able to disconnect Heywood hall and Mess Hall building’s normal power grid connection in the event of power loss from the utility company.

    Contract Award Dollar Amount:

Dollar and price of oil important looking forward.

Some Asian dude pretty smart...Q: will Capstone do financing? A: need in-house financing to compete with CAT and GE...will await cash-flow positive...may barter with electrons.

CEO summary: Lower revenue but higher margins. Screwed by Dollar and oil, but balance sheet still good....and don't forget about the growing service contracts 5-9 year contracts.

CEO sounds much more confident than prior lumpy disasters....

Gus says: it ain't perfect, but looking good with growing business despite 50% loss in orders from biggest customer (BPC).

    VERY POSITIVE CALL
