I agree that splits have no value at all. Small investors do not move stock prices. Yes it is a shame they cannot really participate in higher priced stocks but that is because they can't see the value in a 400 stock doubling with fewer shares. IN reality, % gain is the same no matter what the price so investors should have moved past the split nonsense years ago. Shows they never learn.
I hope amgn never splits again. Just keep paying the dividend
useless garbage spam site that has zero credibility and no value to any investor. thanks for sharing.
The company has not offered anything to get excited about yet. Bakers have continued to sell into moves up so it will be interesting to see if they have continued it into the end of this qtr. Every move over $4 is met with renewed selling in volume. Back under $4 again as I type.
substantial trial results. Too many sellers every time it moves up. This may take longer than you think, but I will settle for $150 now. ha ha
IS DOWN today. He has done nothing with NUAN and not made any mention of it for some extended period now. His many other investments in energy are getting destroyed. RIG being the worst. Management here should have been let go long ago or at the VERY LEAST their options and salaries should be tied to PERFORMANCE. To date, they have reaped MILLIONS in bonus/option stock sales and the stock is DOWN for last 3 1/2 years. Pathetic
I won't argue your point. Trading isn't for everyone. For me, I have the patience to buy and sell around my holdings to pick up cash to invest in other biotechs that I can then sit on. This way the market buys the positions for me.
As for Myboyshadow, you imply that you are overweighted on SGEN as you state you don't want to be caught "with only the core"? That doesn't make sense. If you're wrong and the drugs do NOT pan out, the downside is immense.
I think there is a very good chance that SGEN will move much higher over time but wouldn't risk too much of my savings on it. it is much easier to buy any of them once they have an approved product. Sure you miss some big early gains but you also rarely participate in the blowups.
While I agree SGEN has a good future, the posts here are mostly speculation and not of real substance. Watch out for "conformational bias" in what you read. I trade SGEN around a core position and this has really been the only way to make money in them for many years. Eventually I see a takeout too but nothing like the level of PCYC. Perhaps $75-80/share one day. Bakers have had their misses along with their hits, so take that for what it's worth. I'd like to see a product with a bigger potential market approved first.
Another big payday for them. They keep buying SGEN so perhaps they see this as another big runner?
The stock hasn't done much in a long while beyond a trading range but pipeline is solid so perhaps with the new found wealth they will buy more?
No good news. No progress towards a submission or approval. market losing patience with them.
Other biotech rocking new all time highs. this is a lost cause until they get something further down the road.
I really hope that no one here or on any message board buys or sells stock in a company based on any single or group of posts. Do some homework. Invest in what you know. Ignore the doom sayers AND any over enthusiastic hype. Don't follow the herd and never follow the media. Just buy good quality and wait for the riches. Biotech is not for the weak investor and NOT for you if you don't have the funds to lose. If you have to be here, buy the great names. AMGN, GILD, CELG, BIIB, ALXN, REGN etc.
What else do you say when you're sitting on a big position and had a weak year last year?? Of course that is what he would say. Not that I don't disagree but come on. Does whatever a hedge fund manager say drive your investment decisions? Yikes.
Hey Price, no question XOMA has some good tech but many like it have gone to oblivion waiting for a drug to work. Bakers are down to 14MM shares from over 22MM last year. Never fall in love with a biotech stock that doesn't have earnings and IGNORE analysts. Their price targets can change from good to bad overnight.
I own some XOMA but it is totally speculative and very high risk. Good luck.
What a joke? right? major investors are not leaving? You might have missed the over 7MM shares the Baker Brothers sold over the last year and are probably continuing to sell as the stock continues lower. New 52 week lows today. No buyers stepping up. This is biotech. Some win. some don't. Many don't. They've raised a lot of cash recently but the market is in a show me state here. NO results, no approved products and YEARS of trials and failures. Still waiting for something good here.
another qtr of wasted money here. Icahn seems to be too distracted to do anything much.
Happy to give you a thumbs down just because you would be "happy" to see the value of your holdings plummet by 50% just to buy more? Really. Either that is a bad joke or you are a very poor investor. EW will be acquired for around 7x sales or 160 this year. Management that refuses to diversify their product line will all get the ax. They've done a great job with TAVR but you can't be a one trick pony.
You will not see 80 again or even 100 without a major market meltdown. While expensive at 34x current earnings they are growing fast and have a great future as a TAVR company. They should be using FCF to acquire other products with similar growth trajectories. Best of luck.
Added to my position today on the dip under 150. Continue to trade around a core position I will NEVER sell. Take my dividend and watch this grow to over $200 and beyond in the coming months/years. Not worried about AMGN. Great pipeline and FCF.
Where did you come from?? AMGN just reported their biggest earnings in history, Raised the dividend 30% and restarted a $5 BL stock repurchase. NOW you say sell? Thanks for the laugh. totally unsupported rant.
NFLX just went up over $100/share. Is that a sell also? PLEASE.
Have a little patience. Investors continue to chase yield in a desperate attempt to fund retirement income and it won't end well for them. REITS do not trade with a 40 multiple and eventually this will moderate. come back at year end and the VNQ will be significantly lower. Caveat, if the FED does not raise rates, where will boomers get their income from? This is why so many are chasing them higher. Wouldn't buy them here. Sold my position at 87.5 and will wait as long as it takes to get a better value.
