The FDA does not approve diagnostic testing. The FDA may have authority to shutdown tests that make false claims. So TROV has to provide scientific research to back up their testing methods. Right now, TROV has authority to deliver tests with their CLIA laboratory - already authorized by the FDA.

They do need to science to back up their test accuracy so that the government will approve payment for tests.

This lung cancer announcement is big news. The alternative to TROV's test is biopsies which are difficult, expensive, and damaging to the patient for critical internal organs. TROV's tests will be the best option for these types of cancers.

It is hard to believe the TROV Warrants were so cheap 7 days ago. This is a great run that will go much higher.

Per the CEO in the last CC, a sales team of six people should be in place by March 30th to start selling services to the hospital collaborators.

Three directors are partially paid with these overpriced shares each quarter, so these transactions mean nothing.

However, the CFO - and Interim-CEO buying 5400 shares is potentially significant.

Mr. Pirnat starts as CEO soon, if not today.

CLIR did not win the Platts Energy Award this year. However, neither did 11 other finalists. Primus Green Energy won the Sustainable Innovation category with a Gas-to-Liquid process technology. However, that process is rooted in 50+ year old technology.

Clearsign got the most out of the event with their CEO news this morning. The CLIR executives probably got to talk up the company with a diverse group of energy executives.

IMO - I can't see that any company would require a executive change for specific business transactions. However, Mr. Pirnat will have the experience to grow the business operations and scale the company growth like he did at John Zink and Ingersol-Rand divisions. Very positive.

It is rare for a CEO to vacate a company that has the potential of Clearisgn. I hope Mr. Rutkowski left Clearsign due to burn out or other interests rather than a health problems.

From today's WSJ- CLIR answers the question

CLIR website documents suggest that their solution can solve the pollution problem with an efficiency improvement of 2% to 30% depending on the type of fuel used. However, the ECC solution hasn't been built to scale yet where the biggest gains may occur - so we don't have data yet to prove that.

However - it true - a 30% improvement would be a major improvement since the inefficient emission controls waste that energy now.

This CEO transition is surprising, but very positive and smooth.

It almost appears that this hiring might have been planned ahead of time since it requires no expensive CEO search and no void of executive leadership at a critical time. Mr. Pirnat probably had a non-compete clause with his prior John Zinc CEO role that expired recently to allow this hire.

From today's WSJ- CLIR answers the question

    by yayankee1 Dec 11, 2014 8:13 AM

CLIR's solutions slightly increase the percentage of CO2 because they more completely burn the material - eliminating the more harmful CO and Unburned Coal or Wood Particulates.

However, the CLIR solutions also generate more heat for the same amount of fuel which means less fuel is used for the comparable energy needed. Therefore, the net CO2 may be the same - or less - if less fuel is burned per Watt of Electricity..

The only ways to generate electricity without a carbon problem - is dams, solar, wind and nuclear.. All these options have practical limits to their use on a massive scale.

  • No News so far. However, the Platts Global Energy Awards Event is Thursday.

Clearsign's Duplex Burner is a finalist for the Leading Technology Award - Sustainable Innovation..

This event will draw more attention from the Oil and Gas Executives who can now ask about results on the Aera Energy installation of the Duplex Burner.

I also found this article on Pittsburgh Pollution monitoring with 24 / 7 cameras. The camera went live on Tuesday with Heinz Endowment funding of The Breathe Project. Viewers can monitor the daily effect of pollution on Pittsburgh air and visibility throughout the year.

Clearsign can solve some of these pollution problems with their ECC solution.

The Supreme Court will likely support the EPA on this case anyway.

I found a case where the Wash DC Appellate Court voted against an EPA pollution regulation policy. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court reversed that decision with a vote of 6 to 2 with one judge abstaining from the case. I can't compare the two issues here, so I can't predict the future decision - but the current Supreme Court already has proven they support the EPA. Secondly, this decision won't even require a reversal since the Appellate Court voted 2 to 1 in support of the EPA. So a reversal would be very surprising.

I found another example of a Supreme Court review similar to this case.
The Supreme Court scheduled the hearing 5 months after deciding to hear the case.
Then, the Supreme Court issued their decision 3 months after that hearing.

So the Supreme Court hearing will likely occur in April 2015 with an answer by July 2015.

Since the Supreme Court answer is uncertain, companies will have to continue complying with the Appeals Court decision until there is a firm decision that reverses it.

    The opportunity is very big.

If CLIR solutions sell at $200k and up - as reported in the last CC.
If there are 194,000 boilers in the US which can benefit there is $38 Billion in revenue opportunity for CLIR in the US.

Obviously, not every boiler will need CLIR solutions - nor can they deliver on some types of boilers currently. As the solid fuel solutions are refined for different fuel types, CLIR will be able to deliver solutions to most of these boilers.

The Major Source Boiler rules allow for a year extension for upgrades if authorized by local authorities which can extend the deadline to Jan 31, 2017.

The EPA rules estimate 14,300+ boilers are affected by the Major Source Boiler rules.
The EPA rules estimate 180,000 boilers are affected by the Area Boiler rules with a 2014 deadline.

CLIR's solutions can solve at least two of the EPA pollutants: the Particulate Matter (PM) and CO percentage. I do not know how CLIR solutions address the HCL and mercury.

However, I can't find the date for the Supreme Court review. Since the Jan 2016 deadline is only a year away, CLIR may not be able to deliver solutions soon enough for the initial deadline. More likely, CLIP solutions may be installed later to replace less efficient solutions.
