IBM Cloud Closes The Year With A Bang--More Data Centers, More Customers!LONDON (Reuters) - IBM aims to expand the number of data centers it offers clients around the world by 25 percent to meet fast-rising demand for internet-based services, after what a company executive said has been a "breakthrough year" in 2014 for its cloud computing business.

IBM has quadrupled the number of cloud data facilities it offers around the world to 49 in the past 18 months, responding in part to laws requiring the local retention of data following revelations over U.S. government Web surveillance as well as increased corporate compliance rules.

The company said on Wednesday it has now struck a partnership with data center provider Equinix Inc for nine more cloud centers in Australia, France, Japan, Singapore, The Netherlands and the United States.

In addition the company is opening up three new cloud computer facilities of its own in Germany, Mexico and Japan.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Nothing better than an old tech giant that is smart enough to move with a strategy of the future. I work for a multi-billion industrial chemical company based in Europe and we are moving everything into the clouds with guess who? IBM, so Berkshire's $13 billion stake in this company will continue to bring in profits with the eventual turn around of IBM when all cylinders are clicking in the clouds.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • What does that mean? It means those shares reduce the float because he is not trading them.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • I can't believe I lost money 2 times today. Selling after stocks opened, buying the fake rally when the market was up 100 points and then selling again when it all the market gains were about to go red.

I guess it could have been worse, I could have bought right at the top of the day and sold right before the close for nearly a -300 point swing intraday. Don't know where the bottom is but I am staying in cash until we get at least 3 days of back to back green days to confirm uptrend going forward.

    Sentiment: Hold

  • Oil services buy yesterday Tonight he says: Berkshire Hathaway: "This remains one of the strongest buys, we've liked it since the week the show began and we still like it as much now."

Did he just fool a bunch of people to short Brk-b at the $150's, only to say its a strong buy tonight? I guess that is what the term 'sheep' came from in the investment community? If you trade like sheep you will get slaughtered like sheep as well.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • with license to sell non life insurance.
Does this turn Berkshire into a growth story again? Sure sounds and feels like it.

  • Nine years in a row with no hurricane land falls in Florida and insurance rates just keep going up. See article from last December and you will see that profits will just keep getting bigger and bigger for insurance companies.

Florida homeowners struggling with sky high property insurance premiums received a stark message from the insurance industry this year: Even in hugely profitable periods, the rate hikes just keep coming.

This is shaping up to be the most profitable year for Florida's property insurance industry in a long time. The 10 largest Florida-based private insurers collected $283 million in net underwriting profit through the third quarter of 2013, according to data from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

Only a handful of Florida property insurers reported underwriting losses through the third quarter, a significant turnaround from recent years.

The companies avoided paying hurricane claims again this year — a record eighth straight without a storm making landfall in Florida — and saved hundreds of millions when the price of reinsurance dropped by upwards of 20 percent.

Yet of the rate filings submitted to state regulators through October, 69 percent were for increases. There have been 21 proposed rate decreases, but most were minor adjustments.

State Farm Florida, for example, increased rates 6.3 percent in October despite reporting $126 million in underwriting profit through the third quarter of the year.

That is why they will hedge again 70% of future oil at todays crashing oil price and make future profits soar. Its about future earnings not today.

  • That entered at the gap up +5% opening. Oil will not stop here it needs to go lower yet.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
