marv i do enjoy your posts and occasionly find useful nuggets among your musings.furthermore if u want to be older then me thats fine. in fact i wish i was the youngest on this board.however its my guess and its just a hunch u aint in the league of the gentlemen u just mentioned .meaning no disrespect.
heres the topic
u havent earned the right to lecture me on investing.
wether u r older or not is of no consequence.
the cef hqh pays a quarterly div.and if in a retirement account this goes unreported for tax puposes. in addition tqh pays a monthly div.basically they are distributing profits earned since they earn no income except from bonds.
in addition ill match my folio or my prowess re finance with your financial abilities.
so stop your pompous airs stick to the facts and just talk mlps.
u r getting to be a boring old man..
ny marv if u want growth then forget these mlps and look at bio tech.
thats your cagr growrh
ive been in a bio tech closed end fund for several years.
has outperformed over time just about every group.
and imho over time will continue its ascent.
do i want growth certainly however as a senior investing in mlps over 15 plus years i have formed my own opinions.
between munis and mlps i enjoy the tax deferred and or tax free income.
if there is substuanial growth wonderful.each segment of my folio is there for different reasons based on my age and needs.
mlps are a part.
what i meant before was select what u like ,distribution being a part ,pick your entry point and then if u desire buy.
in fact today i added to my bio tech holdings.
over time ive been happy with my folios growth.
mistakes i have made.
but also have made some good choices.
no one hits homers every time up.
u have your method i havemine
butone is not better then another.
different strokes for different folks.
just be patient
i never pick the bottom but identify what i like and target a distrubution price
when that price realized i act.
i do not act on what others do.
imho oil at or about 40 should give us some individual mlp selections.
i have selected what i like with perspective yields .if achieved i will act.
the market over time will sort it out.
i have noticed with this decline this board has had less people contributing.thats a shame.
its in times like this we need sane heads with differing logical opinions discussing these issues.
i have been adding to eep over the last 2 months
they have superior management along with great assets.
i have also added to their spin off mep.
well run outfit that will only grow over time.
along with the usual suspects i loaded up on wmb at 41. like their long range position
also instituted new large positions in eep with their spin off mep.
excellent management their.
sold dpm in additrion added to glp.
my feeling oil hgigher by end of year.
middle east reeling and ready for hostilities the new alloes in middle east are sa,isr.egypt and jordan.
sa will want nuclear weapon also if usa signs accord with iran
what a putz in white house.
i dont like rrms parent sem ever since they were involved with a legal dispute with mvo.
imho just left bad taste with me and got the feeling same ilk like the cohen bros. of atls infamy.
i have a long memory
i second that
hes an economic illiterate.
he makes that dummy jimmy carter look good.
he cant leave town fast enuf for me.
he is the manchurian candidate.
this time different this aint a lehman brother created problem.
this time problem larger and more economic.
we now have a glut.
i dont think there is a demand problem just a large over hang of supply.
imho they r commited to the distribution however no increase needed or warranted.
by the way i couldnt resist and bought more at 55.00 i have no idea where its going however the tape the last 2days has been interesting.
ngls today was incredible down 3.50 finished down .30.
they also ,ngls, had 7 block trades all early in day.
imho was a fund redemption.
from my readings all interested parties saying this glut lasting into 2nd half of 2015.and i respect this however when i find a company i respect at a fair price i buy.for example wmb under 40.00.
dpm under 40. etc.
as an aside for all u gs fans i have found them in many cases late to the party.
like the cover of business week screaming buy or sell.
just my thoughts..
mark i understand
however i have very little mwe now and im not adding.
in addition only started new positions .i am patient .and if i feel a particular company offers me value i will buy no matter where oil may eventually settled.
barrons,gs,and merril do not run my folio.
all descisions for bad or good are mine.
for example wmb at 41. to me is an excellent price.
so i piled in.
if it goes lower i will add.
i cant pick tops or bottoms.
i buy what i like at a price i feel reasonable.
if it goes significantly lower i buy more.
i do my own dd.
and always have cash available.
this was my first buy day for the mlps in quite a WHILE.
however i did sell in 2014 and either eliminate positions entirely and take profits or greatly trimmed a position.
what ever happens its on me.
however always enjoy your comments and find wisdom in them.
love days like this .started new positions in paa,dpm and especially wmb.
thx u gs.
will buy more tomorrow if mlps crater also.
didnt add to my other mlp position however gel was down over 2.00 but closed under a 1.00.
so many gifts out there.
have no idea when sell off ends however ive never had a distrribution cut yet.
and ive been in mlps since 1999.
not saying it cant happen however ill take my chances.
i dont measure my folios growth day by day but from year to year.
good luck and a happy new year to all.
19trillion in debt not 18 trillion and half of that incurred under our great leader the economic illiterate.
this country will not trulg grow until obama and his ilk leave the white house.
in addition without him our country will grow more secure militarily.
hes a national and world disgrace.
he makes that putz jimmy carter look good.
this govt u bet
in addition this administration feels anything that hurts iran and russia is good for us.
get used to this its going to be around for a while.
by the way arent u the guy who liked lower mwe prices so u can buy more.
well u are getting your wish now.
good luck and happy new year to u and the board
mmlp is basically a slow growth mlp.
u aint going to get much appreciation.
what it really is is a distribution mlp.
made for retirees looking for income.
the owners i believe set this up just for that purpose.
they aint going to grow this very much.
so just take the distributions and forget about this one.
its like a high paying muni bond thats its purpose.
u aint getting rich here.
because of the economic issues in europe and energing markets demand has slacked off.
once demand picks up prices should rise.
however this may take quite some time and i feel this present phase could last quite a while.
i rather be late to this party then much to early.
rrb nice to see u
i took profits in small positions and losses also.
not worried bout recapture.
however the days of blindly holding imho are over.
there is a glut of oil and gas.
till that is absorbed it cant be ignored.
have a chest full of cash waiting to deploy however at this stage of my life very patient.
principal protection number one with me now.
will repurchase ete and dpm when and if time right.
not selling anything else however mwe was to large a position for me to carry slimmed it down took profits.
still holding a large but more manageable amount.
holding mwe, gel, ngls, glpand mmlp in that size order.
best of luck to us and to all board members.
nice seeing u back on board
i agree with u problem here is low float and anything associated with energy is bad.
havent sold here.
did sell 40%of my mwe took profit still sitting with a boat load.
sold entire position in dpm at a profit will renter if it goes below 40.
still sitting with lots of ngls.
all the above painful with no end in sight.
have no idea when it ends.
holding glp and mmlp.
not selling either.
my next repurchase as stated above is dpm.
all the best
i also feel massive redemptions in mlps funds.
however i noticed no block trades of mwe.
as far as a correction of 25%magnitude only time will tell.
pre 2015 was tax loss selling.
post 2015 is now taking profits without worrying bout recapture.
its about saving princopal.
lets see what happens when distribution time rolls around.could get really ugly then.
by far mwe taking the biggest hit in my folio.
