Investing in BlackBerry's new market verticals is much akin to investing in startups. The valuation on the company is mostly based on projected future earnings, where current P/E and earnings per share have little meaning. Currently, BlackBerry does not break out financials for individual business units. More color in this area is needed to make an informed decision and, in the next few months, more is expected. The next earnings call will likely include some more details about projects within the Internet of Things space.
