Those price target cuts won't usually show up in Yahoo! Finance for several days. Fortunately the targets remain reasonable. I suspect $32 will be the stock price in 3 months.

  • I have no doubt CALM earnings will be excellent for the next 3 quarters which is how long it will take to bring the layer life cycle back into sync with demand if all goes perfectly with replacements.

    A review:

2 months to 4 months to collect enough eggs to hatch new replacements +
(assumes there are enough breeder hens & roosters available) +
1 month to find enough incubation space to incubate the eggs +
1 month to incubate the eggs + Note: Only females kept, thus 2x eggs need to hatch. +
(assumes feed, water, housing, equipment, boots, uniforms have all been sterilized by then)
6 months to bring newly hatched chicks to begin laying small eggs as pullets +
1 month to begin laying large sized eggs with most still being medium sized +
1 month to begin laying extra large sized eggs mixed with large size eggs (Feb & Mar 2016).
Total 12 months which assumes all goes perfectly (not likely).
Some farms will NOT be able to sterilize or protect the new flocks from re-infection due to inadequate ventilation systems, water supply, feed supply (wild birds must NOT have access to anything related).
The ideal time for starting pullets in production is NOT December for maximum egg laying but it is o.k. with artificial lighting, heating, ventilation, etc.
We are in August so we have 3 quarterly reports to go before core impact phase is over.

Depending on how they handle disposal of "old hens", there will be some benefit from the severe shortage of "fowl" (old hens) used in ethinc delicacies of Latins, Asians, others. If this process is not already contracted out, CALM will benefit from higher prices. As a rule of thumb, the price of "fowl" will be between 2x and 3x the price of broilers.
Above is based on personal practical experience on all phases of the production cycle.

Bought more CALM today based on 99% certainty.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
