Interesting that Pioneer stock is up 83% the past five years while Devon stock is down 54% the past five years. That tells me who has the smartest management. I conclude the purchase was probably a good long term plus for Pioneer. Regarding Devon, what a disaster of a company. In our great economy, their stock price plunges over a five year period. How sad for all the hard working employees and the investors. Devon stock is no higher than it was 12 years ago.
Sad fact is that the stock is lower than ten years ago. All the effort of good employees building a company has not paid off in profits. We sorry investors would have done better elsewhere with our investment. What a waste of time it has been studying this company over the past ten years. An investing disaster with this stock, and lost opportunity in so many other good stocks.
Same problem as Apple lots of cash and flattening sales. How about a merger of Apple, Gilead and Tesla. Then Apple does not need to develop a car and they have instant diversification. All three companies have management in the same neighborhood.
