Everything was just fine as long as only stupid musicians were being taken advantage of.
Now that YOU have been taken advantage of, how does it feel?
Greedy internet businessmen delivering music should not make more than the people creating music.
The bill also:
1. strips musicians of our right to collectively bargain.
2. doesn't allow the copyright royalty judges to consider whether a kind of digital radio might replace sales.
Reminds me of the "Patriot Act". Nobody would have wanted the "Suspension of the Bill of Rights Act". Its all in the name, suckers.
There is nothing "fair" about the "Internet Radio Fairness Act". It needs to be called "The Internet Rip-Off of Musicians Act" or "The Let Musicians Eat Peanuts Act".
But you all know what is best for musicians more than musicians do, right?
So you are not a musician but you understand better than I do? Radio was never the main source of income for musicians. It s the sales it generated. Pandora kills that.
I have been at this for thirty years. I have many multi-platinum albums and many radio hits to my credit. The company that you own stock in is trying to decimate my living.
"The truth is that Pandora’s dishonest proposal would be devastating to music creators. And, while Pandora’s misleading campaign claims that Pandora is suffering under the current, fair system of compensation, nothing could be further from the truth. Pandora is expected to clear $600 million in revenues next year under the current system, and has seen year to year revenue growth that would be the envy of many businesses and families in this time of slow economic growth."
Maybe you should let me decide what is best for you and your business? You obviously don't understand what is best for you, right?
"over the air radio broadcasters" do not kill music sales. They raise music sales.
I have had number one radio hits, have you? You really want to tell me that I don't know what is good for me? You are trying to put me on the reservation.
I have made a living off of my music for over thirty years. I understand where my income comes from. Go tell some Indians how being moved to reservations was really good for them. You weren't the one affected.
Pandora kills music sales.
Back in September, BTIG analyst Richard Greenfield asserted that the Internet Radio Fairness Act is basically “crazy,” and simply is designed to fix Pandora’s flawed business model. “Pandora is effectively asking the government to intervene and reduce its cost structure, helping it remain a viable business because it knows its business model only works while running limited advertising,” he wrote at the time. “Why should the U.S. government allow musicians to be harmed simply to help Pandora and its investors generate enhanced returns?”
I am a musician and I can assure you that musicians will make MUCH MUCH LESS. It will kill sales. I'm sure it is easy for you to believe whatever you want because you aren't a musician.
Shouldn't musicians have a say in how their product is distributed? You obviously don't think so.
Why is it ridiculous? Streaming at will is the same as owning a copy of the music. Musicians have a hard enough time these days selling their music because of illegal downloading. Pandora will kill what little sales are left and keep the money for themselves.
You want to kill the golden goose. The golden goose is already very sick these days.
THEY GIVE AWAY THAT WHICH DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM.
Maybe it is time that musicians are given the right to decide how business executives are compensated for their work.
It will certainly put already-struggling musicians onto welfare.
Pandora wants our government to help them rip musicians off royally.
If the act passes, it will be a very sad day for this country.
THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED.
"sustainable Internet radio marketplace"
Sustainable for everyone except those who provide the content that makes the whole boat float.
"Internet Radio Fairness" is a death sentence for musicians. To support Pandora is to hate musicians.
Pandora needs to go away and die.
In case nobody has noticed, these past few years have been extremely tough on musicians. Pandora wants to make things even worse for those who provide their content.
Tell your representatives to vote NO on the internet music rip-off act.
Maybe it is time musicians are called on to decide on how business executives are compensated for THEIR work.
Thank you for reading my rant.
Well, that settles it. You are castmeoff for sure. You said you weren't coming back, that you had wasted enough of your time. Add yet another lie to your résumé. You are very sick.
Around and around you go. The truth will never stick as long as you remain slippery.
Yes, Leonard, their patent is valid. Doesn't matter one bit. You and you alone can't see the TRUTH.
Did you go short at $2 when you were demanding that everyone sell? Or is your advice for everyone but yourself?
Thank you for the eight-year-old news. I fully expect you to tell us about how frivolous the Rpost suit was in another eight years from now. You should consider becoming an "expert witness", Leonard. Might keep you away from this message board for two seconds. The fact that you live here despite holding no position short or long tells me a lot about you. Stay bitter, and keep blaming Richard for everything stupid you have ever done in your life. That is your key to happiness.
