Samsung is the most broadly diversified technology company......Product Development Cycles are 2X faster than AAPL with semiannual major product releases..... Dominates HDTV, Galaxy Smartphones, Tablets, etc.

Large conglomerates like Koch Industries yesterday bought Oplink for its technology. Samsung could acquire AMD quickly if wanted.

Watch for large customer contracts by Samsung that has AMD Inside.

Tonight CNBC Cramer showed 4 charts based on Technical analyst Bob Lang who likes the following four evidences:

    1) Too many Put Option buying in crude oil future was extreme 5:1 Put:Call buying last Friday. Too many bears

    2) Several Years of Strong Stock Market during cheaper oil which drives Higher Profit (Higher Demand from Consumers; lower fuel cost; lower packaging cost)
    Year.....Crude Oil....... SP500
    Average -31%...........+24.2%

    3) Velocity of decline had frightened people. When velocity disappears the confidence returns, and the market rallies.

    4) CBOE Volatility Ratio of 30 Days to 90Days: . the VIX to VXV
Whenever this ratio is over 1 it signals a major rally is begun. Every time it did this in 2014 the market rallied sharply. Yesterday Tuesday it went over 1. Today Wednesday it moved higher. The last 5 years the VIX has gone above VXV 14 times. One month afterward the SP has been up 12 of 14 times.

Medium-Term the SP500 should resume its climb higher as it has many other times.

You are Correct. High Puts quietly are being trimmed as the bashing phase is over. Nov-March very strong months & capex and Consumer Spending and Expectations rising with jobs and housing as the Fed noted in their early views to this.

Deserves $4. CEO & Corning and other Partnership announcements need to awaken intwrested beliwf in Zhone.

Such large partnerships, like AMD+Samsung can have big surprise Sales Contracts. Revenue of $7.8 vs $0.212 B is 64X multiplier, so a small % increase to Corning has an enormous upside to Zhone.

This partnership is grossly overlooked. The stock ispummelwd down 58% since $3.7 when CEO was announced in July 4.5 months ago.

Let Zhone's CEO reveal his "growth plan" including new BU Leader and Organization and Sales and Promotional Programs. This stock was falsely taken down over 50% the past three months since the CEO was announced.

Give him a chance to announce his growth plan. Don't try to talk down a falsely beaten down company on a faux market correction.

Zhone's leadership technology in the growing FiberLAN market #1-#3 position in all of its major markets, and a CEO who has grown & done wealth-creation deals with at least 4-5 recent companies deserves its price target $4.

Good points by all. China's RECORD LARGE EXPORT & IMPORTS beating expectations... with Exports Up +15% Y/Y is acceleration. (not slowdown) Watch Intel INTC Tuesday Night...If they report solidly it will shock bears...if INTC Guides Higher the market will gap up severely.

And analysts will ask Microchip what is their company's problem?

  • econ_recovering2009 econ_recovering2009 Oct 17, 2014 10:00 PM Flag

There is something brewing and the CEO promised at the industry conference to very soon this time of October to reveal his "growth plan and new Business Unit" that will focus on FiberLAN. He has grown and sold 4-5 companies that I have read about. Is he always 3months into it and the stock slides?

Is he losing his stuff or is this just a temporary coincidence where we were hurt with 90% of stocks due to recent market mayhem?

It appears begun to turn thanks to Strongest Consumer Expectations in 7 years (probably due to cheap gas, oil) and US Fed and EU QE which appears near?

Hope when the market fully rises with some QE underpinning, that this CEO steps up, does some deals, and announces bold results and partnership deals. A big partner would turn a lot of heads.

He needs to build the buzz and get analyst heads turning.

Zhone's eye should be on the $5 to get this going in gear (avoid delisting) or build a bidding war for these great #1-#3 market position technologies.

We all know this is the purpose of the new CEO after his 25 years CEO jobs record of buying and then selling. In the call he sounded happy about the company where as a CEO he sold it to Cisco.
