Krenaud2010: Weather could kill forward guidance, but low gas prices and full employment can only help the restaurant sector.
Personally, I think NDLS low balled guidance.
What you're seeing now is a short squeeze that could easily take NDLS up to $36 before market makers who were buying at $18 begin selling.

  • At 12:30 yesterday, half the tables were occupied.
By 13:00 they were still occupied with new customers!
3 months ago this same location was nearly dead by 13:00.
It could be weather related as yesterday was a beautiful day.
Manager was walking around asking people if everything was ok.
    -----
Last Sunday I visited Old Orchard at 14:30.
Very busy as were all restaurants in OO.
One employee dedicated just to cleaning tables and he couldn't keep up.
    Customers were overwhelmingly young females.

cashback_7: Thanks for the info. I have bought 4 stocks in the past 2 months and NDLS is my only loser.
Should have bought TXRH, although I've never eaten there.
TXRH are always packed when I've visited.
I think the DJIA will hit 20K before running out of steam.

NDLS in Deer Park (a trendy mall) was booming last Thursday.
I ate at Biaggi's in Deer Park. Fantastic lunch prices, but still $14/meal with tip.

NDLS in Buffalo Grove is struggling, but slowly picking up.

NDLS in Lincolnshire is seeing serious competition from Go Roma.
Go Roma is offering salad and pasta combination for $1/less.
While Roma was twice as busy as NDLS, I don't see how they can make money.
The Cosi next door to them was empty.
This strip mall has way too many restaurants.

Conference call said Apple is buying back stock at the current price.
Has $80B to buy more and can always increase that.
The buyback alone increases price to earnings by 15%.
Earnings also grew by 15% and Apple is sandbagging next quarters estimates.
The only weak spot is iPod sales and can fix that by increasing the screen resolution.
I'll bet Apple is saving it for another time.
If AAPL falls below $95, I am buying more.
The 200dma is $87 and rising.

  • AAPL will hit $135 next April. Sell today at $95 and if your lucky, you'll save $8.
I waited an hour last Verizon last night to trade in my old iPhone.
Salesperson said its been like ever since the iPhone 6 came out.

I read an article that it costs $60/barrel to extract shale oil and another $20 to transport it.
    Not to mention environmental concerns.

Went to NDLS on Noodle day.
The bad news was that it was only slightly more busy than the previous Monday.
The good news was that it was a lot busier than a few months ago.
This was a new location open less than a year.

why has this stock fell from 50 to 18?

Bananas500: I agree with your comments.
However, I have learned that it takes a minimum of 4 years of holding an investment before it pays off.
Although NDLS forecast was not rosey, revenue and earnings have been growing at 50% / year for the last years and are likely to continue once the dust settles.
I have seen many great stocks pull back to their IPO price (intc, mstf, cmg, bwld) before resuming their rise.

Thai Hot Pot - Signature curry broth, cabbage, sprouts, fresno peppers, shiitake mushrooms, rice noodles, pulled chicken and pork lime wedge and cilantro. Served with a side of toasted Asian flatbread 560 cal
The above is one of the healthiest meals offered by any fast casual restaurant.
Low in calories too. BTW, a friend a mine went nuts with a high protein diet and now he's got gout.
A balanced diet low in calories is the best approach to losing weight.

  • I bought AAPL in Feb 2011 right at the top ($51) when a new iPhone was released.
It fell all the way down to the 200 day moving average ($34).
Seemed like a bigger drop than it was, because of the 7:1 stock split.
And that is number #1 reason why AAPL won't drop very much.
#2 The 7:1 split left many people with an odd number of shares.
A drop would give them a chance to buy the other 30 shares.
#3 There was no stock buy back then.
#4 There was no dividend back then.
#5 There was no enterprise strategy back then.
#6 The Apple watch seems like nothing now, but it could be another hit.
#7 Apple is working on a streaming strategy. Another possible hit.
I'll probably hang onto my shares.
After all even after Apple hit $34 in 2011, it then shot up to $100.

cash: Do you ever have anything good to say?
Yes, if I were Moes or Qudoba I would want out too. No moat.
I talked to the owner of Beef Shack and he had a positive impression of Noodles.
He also thought Pot Belly would fail. I think he was being straight with me.

  • AH-IL was busy at 12:30, probably because of 2 for 1 promotion offered to e-club subscribers.
The Moes and Starbucks next to NDLS were empty.

Every UBS upgrade that I found (such as BWLD) that was initiated at BUY caused a one day pop.
In several cases the stock was significantly lower 6 months later.
If you want in on NDLS, i guarantee you it will close the gap between yesterday (18) and today's open.

Did Apple Just Raise Their Margins?

Opps. I should have said when AAPL peaked at $100 in 2012.
We're in a totally different situation today with 500M iPhones coming up for replacement.
    G-d was Steve Jobs brilliant.

rick: Sorry, I should have explained. The extra cost of the memory chips is next to nothing.
But offering more memory will tempt more buyers to fork over the extra $100.
Another point. When AAPL peaked at $100 ($700 pre-split), the stock had surged.
Not this time around. In fact, at $100 AAPL is in line with its 2009-2011 slope.
The share buy back also will minimize AAPL from crashing.
I don't know where the bottom is, but its certainly not going to drop 50%.

    Sentiment: Hold

  • Offering 64GB phones for only $100 more was brilliant.
Judging by today's selloff, I think AAPL will hit $103 between now and Sept 19 (iPhone ship date).
    Today's selloff was premature.

    It hit bottom last Friday.
Shorts are locking in profits and underwriters are forced to buy at the IPO price (18).
The earnings might suck, but they are still earnings.
