Actually 3 out of 3 resulted in payments to Aware. My objection is to the asymmetric nature of material information that chronically exists between the insiders, their friends, and the rest of us.
AdTran being sued for infringement of certain of those patents. July 17, 2014 suit filed. Do Aware shareholders have a dog in that fight? Wouldn't it be nice to know?
It makes no sense. The buyer could have paid less than that all day long in the regular session. Nothing about trying to trade this stock makes any sense.
So according to savedone, minority investors should just trust mgt to do the right thing by us and not question why patents were reassigned without proper disclosure, webcast quarterly calls were discontinued, and why Ariel got tipped to buy right before the dividend announcement? That makes us 'whiners'? All we want is for rules to be followed and enforced when they aren't.
...'I will continue holding but for none of the reasons the she-man mentioned. After his last post I'm now 100% sure the guy is either clueless or intentionally trying to deceive.'
Add 'just plain crazy' after reading his latest barrage of nonsense.
Thanks CWN600. I thought I was the only one confused by robshemankis verbal barrage of direct contradictions. FWIW you had the divi details correct from day 1. I really didn't get that interested in the relevance of the record date and call my broker until a day or two before. He explained it exactly as you and the uptax? guy did.
Even more bizarre are his reasons to not sell the stock. I, and several others, have been closely following this company for several years, some since it's IPO. We're are all very long the stock and I will continue holding but for none of the reasons the sheman mentioned. After his last post I'm now 100% sure the guy is either clueless or intentionally trying to deceive.
I've been ridiculously overweight this stock for the last few years thanks to FD's advice a while back.
Bingo! So why the weak AWRE open this morning. I don't buy the 'overall market weakness' reason. This stock rarely follows the market.
For those of you following along, I found Usetaxes explanation much more concise. I do appreciate your effort though Rob.
Rob wrote: 'if you do not buy today you will not get it, ...That's not what my broker told me. He said you can buy it up to and including July 24 and get the divi.
I think some are confused about the relevance of the 'record date'. The record and ex-div dates are quite atypical on this one.
How many know the answer I wonder.
We won't find out who the buyers and sellers based on this event are until after the 3rd quarter sch13 filings. Interested to see what Obamas buddy at our new investors shop Ariel did.
Everything about this stock is clouded in secrecy. The only thing a shareholder can count on is that the Staffords are calling all the shots to benefit themselves. It's our lot to follow the crumb trail they leave and act accordingly. The volume and price action you've observed is mine as well. None of it would happen without the Staffords supporting the buying in one form or another.
My takeaway from the crumb trail? Sit tight with my grossly overweight position, gladly accept the dividend and hope this turkey gets bought out in old man Staffords lifetime. The divestitures of patent and non performing biz divisions and 3 large cash dividends all point in that direction. The only question left in my mind is for how much.
FWIW, someone has seen fit to transact in Call options with a 7.50 strike. Who would try to time this stock?
One key part of immigration reform that has already been passed in previous legislation mandates that when a visitor leaves the US he provides a fingerprint scan upon exiting at the land border, air or seaport. The purpose is to identify those who overstay their statuary time limit in the country. This has been a very difficult part of law to enact. But I suspect the Repubs are going to demand it's in place before cooperating in any sort of further 'reform'.
My understanding is that some are prohibited from owning sub $5 stocks. Anyone?
