Could MDVN acquire another San Francisco biotech firm to as a poison pill strategy? Just another random thought by a clueless investor.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • Sanofi takes a run at MDVN and it seems a little bit like the EXEL/Ipsen model strategy, but EXEL got to keep itself independent and MDVN shareholders are left to wonder how high could an independent MDVN go.

Does this change the valuation formula for EXEL? I doubt it as the street is still skeptical of biotech in general and if EXEL continues to execute the value will continue to appreciate, even though the ups and downs are frustrating at best.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • I spent most of the last 2 days either on the golf course or living my life (which thankfully doesn't revolve around EXEL). Like the rest of you I was happy to read the good news Monday morning and felt safe enough not to worry about the near term s/p. Alas, I was wrong and of course the bio mavens of the MB have spent the last 48 hours in a plethora of verbal gymnastics good enough to earn a gold medal at any Olympic games.

I not only can't keep up with the all the information disseminated about cabo, cobi, Cometryq, Cabometyx, Cotellic, Cnv bonds, yada, yada, yada, but I also find it quite amazing that all the prognosticators and naysayers have the the time to write such voluminous diatribes based on their personal and/or professional knowledge. The point I'm trying to make is if I (just a clueless investor, who has followed EXEL for 5 years) can't hardly find the time to read all the MB BS , how do all these people have the time to research and write such such "scholarly" material?

I put it to you that these are not just ordinary investors ( similar to MEDX investors, who were pretty knowledgeable as well) and their motivation is not as honorable as they may lead you to believe. I am still long my core shares and plan to stay long but i don't trust anything I read here without questioning the writer's motivation, including my own.

Yeah, they also embargoed my answer to the mystery of CNBC ignoring the possible best cancer drug news of the year. This all out war is now going to get real ugly, and I hope EXEL has the intestinal fortitude to take the fight to BMY.

  • Market makers have owned this stock and are playing the day trade game, but you can be sure they are adding to their core positions. Anybody who sells their core holdings here is making a mistake. The only negative s/t might be the upcoming ER, but hey have surprised upwards the last 2 quarters. Good luck to all the longs who've been here for a while.

A triple digit drop in the Dow and a weak bio tech index haven't helped either.

  • later today or tomorrow. Short covering will commence as soon as the news is picked up by television and secondary news outlets. Right now the MM's are still in control but the upgrades will overwhelm shortly. If this was any other stock (w/out the Cnv bond anchor) we'd be up 20%. Frustrating but , it-is-what-it-is!

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • A hint of things to come?

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • In the recent past the $1B market cap has been a hard nut to crack for very long. A pullback to the low $4 level would not be a big surprise, nor would a run over $5 before the ER and CC. Have a nice weekend, Happy Passover and good golfing.

"I did sell some trading shares this morning (actually 30 mins ago) at 4.42 and I hope to hop right back in at appx 4.25 to 4.30."

Nice to be wrong and still happy. Still holding some trading shares and my core shares and waiting for the news.
This could also be a head-fake as volume is pretty tame, but this would assume that either the company or the MM's are in on the scam, and although I believe in the manipulation theory of the Cnv bond holders, I doubt that there is a purposeful scam in operation.

In any case, happy to be long here.

It certainly acts like it, up early on good volume and then profit taking by small retail traders. Although this pattern has disappointed in the past, it does look like something is about to pop. I did sell some trading shares this morning (actually 30 mins ago) at 4.42 and I hope to hop right back in at appx 4.25 to 4.30. Good luck to all the longs, and more importantly may the momentum against cancer continue for the patients' sake.

Good question gator. By it's very definition the goal of manipulation is to control the price and I believe the Cnv bond holders have the most to gain, wash rinse repeat until the bonds are called later this year if the stock trades high enough, above 6.90(?) for 30 days(?). The second most to gain would be an acquirer who may be trying to manipulate the share price to keep it low for an eventual takeover. All speculation of course, but it makes it more interesting than just fundamental trading.

Just the MM's helping out a short (for a slight premium, of course). There was also an apx. 670,000 share trade at around 3;45PM, after a low volume .08 run. The level of outright manipulation in this issue is so blatant that it's laughable.

Wow, me too. Actually I added at 4.2599. Do you still think we are going to get the FDA nod earlier than the PDUFA date? The FDA seems to be truly in love with immune oncology and nivo specifically. Have you ever seen the FDA approve one drug in so many applications in such a short period of time?

What we need on this board

It's a sign of our times. Nobody uses land lines anymore for their phones as they are literally infected to the point of being unusable by telemarketers for industry and politics. I never give out my cell phone # to anyone I don't know, but I have occasionally received unwanted telemarketing calls on my cell phone as well.

I don't know if Yahoo can put a stop to it but I think they must be benefiting in some way or else they would do something about it. Meanwhile, I also think the MB's are still quite valuable and worth the annoyance.

Thanks ernie! You're a breath of fresh air. Yes, in your words that was a "drive by" of you. Not as bad though as your "drive by" of EXEL this morning.

Once again, you have displayed your sanctimonious, condescending know-it-all attitude and assumed that we (the poor and huddled masses) have no clue what we are reading.

What? didn't you get a chance to buy enough EXEL shares on Friday morning for another .08 move?

Perhaps you should consider running for office like all the other sanctimonious, condescending know-it-alls, and save us all from ourselves.

    Accumulating again

". Building position for RCC approval.'

Really, ernie? In this one thread you've bot and sold, and are now trying to buy in at 4.28 again, after selling out completely at 4.35. That's not really position building, unless you have inside information about when the FDA will make it's announcement. I hope you're doing this with enough volume to make it worthwhile. I suspect this confusion is because you have your own private targets and goals, so I assume you are not totally transparent on this MB about your position, which is understandable. I totally agree with you about an FDA approval, which might come any day now, but I disagree with you about 4.80 ceiling, due to an accumulation of recent catalysts and future catalysts9really too numerous to go over again). The demand and supply for shares will finally overwhelm the short cabal as we are approaching a date and price that could force an conversion. Good luck ernie, no hard feelings.
