UPS management since 1999 has always been inept in the public domain. They would have been better off to stay private. Their incestual inept management was and will always be overprotective of their stock & options. As long as that protective environment continues , investors should go elsewhere if the want ROI. UPS blew their chance with TNT for those very reasons.
I dunno. You tell me. FDX $173 per share. UPS $96 per share. UPS had a golden opportunity to buy TNT 15 years ago but their collective egos couldn't see beyond their quarterly stock dividends. The "ME TOO" company strikes again. biggest mistake they ever made was to go public without the executive talent in place to take them there.
High union wages, failures to deliver what they promised for the past 2 peak seasons, & lack luster earnings compared to the recent positive announcement by Fedex. UPS should be swimming in profitability due to hedged oil but they seemed to fall flat on their faces compared to Fedex in that area as well. But as long as the senior guys get their free stock, be sure that their divs cover their hypo payments, & manipulate their options when its time to call them nobody internally really cares what happens to outside investor money. 'cause they can retire fat, dumb, & happy after their 20 non-productive years in the firm.
