rmarfl, i know. But i don't think i have skills enough to trade and time the mkt. i'm rather a modest long term value investor. GL
retired, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Fully understand your view. Hope the best for all of us. I'm also retired after 30 yrs working in nat. gas and ngl recovery industry. GL.
nice reading. anyhow let me ask a question: as long term investor what is ur investment return target?. After all and assuming current divi is not changed u have around 8% a year. And 8% is a good long term avg (simmilar to s&p 500 avg) in an environment where 10y T yields less than 2%
I'm not saying that current RD divi will be maintened. I fact if oil keeps near 30$ the stock will move sideways between 40 and 50$ and i guess divi will be reduced around 50%. So she will yield near the historical level of 5%. And this will save 6 to 7 b$/y.
Of course trading could yield much more. But trading is a matter of timing and timing is very hard to play. At least for retail avg. investors.
Anyway, nice to read ur post.
I'm long and my avg. is 48$.
may be u r right and she keeps moving sideways near 30$. but 4% of div yield is excellent under current environment with 10yT yielding below 2%. Furthermore having A and AA credit rating. gl.
may be u r right and c ends "one day" around 70 or 80$. But let me put an example. some weeks ago i sold my 50% of c around 49$. immediatly i put the cash in a big-giant oil co. today c is 20% below and with no divi. On the other hand the oil giant is also below but just 5% and with 2 excellent divi received (1 already paid and the other declared and ex-divi). I know oil is today a big risk. But c in my modest view is riskier. gl.
C is probably one of the worst places where to put money. I've been long since '09 with my first entry by march of that year. Price by then was 1.03 $ (10.30 after rs). After several buy/sell/options orders my avg today is around 30$. First was pandit (the bandit). Later was (and is) corbat (the "metrics" fan). In the middle a bunch of litigations and legal affairs. And essentially no divi. Today, 7 years after that initial purchase i see a mere 30% gain in nominal terms. I've made some math considering just divi lost (basket of shrs. with yields between 2 and 4%), and C IS SIMPLY WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. Can´t wait to dump this pig.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Sir, in plain english that was LYING BY OMISSION. Deception. Trick. Stratagem. Long and very long on wfc. But things like this make me ask several points. gl.
