This has always been a low volume stock. Only 10M shares outstanding, and a float of half that. And one person, Fred Eshelman owns over 25% of the company. On paper, it has a market cap of over 700million, but it trades more like a microcap. So normal technical analysis fails to explain it's price action. And unless they recant their recent top line results on eluxadoline, this stock is never going to see $20 again. In early May, Furiex will present at Digestive Disease Week (DDW) 2014 , and my money is saying "oh yes, there will will be blood"- for anyone short this stock!

Am I the only one left holding this stock?

The problem is one of price. Mgmt would expect a premium on their 52 week high of $121, but who is going to pay $135+ for a company that is trading @ 77 and has been in straight descent since the Feb pop. DDW 2014 in early May can't come soon enough!

    Will Lucy pull the football?

So Lucy tried to pull the football, and Charlie Brown has now kicked it--and Lucy through the uprights! Must admit I have sold a bit, as I still don't understand why this run up now. But i'll take it, and I still think the company will continue to grow. And yes, real profits will come.

What many want to hear is something like: "We are looking at all strategic options and have hired (X) investment firm to assist us". Cash burn is high, people really are expecting a buy out of this company. That said, i think this is a good time to buy.

Well I see that today they announced European Medicines Agency (EMA) has accepted for review the Company's Marketing Authorization Application. The decision is expected in the first half of 2015. That plus the timeline of FDA approval puts them on track--which means you are still looking at late 2016. Cue the Tom Petty song: "The Waiting is the Hardest Part"

    Stifel and Oppenheimer analysts

    by boja4 Feb 13, 2014 1:38 PM

The Oppenheimer analyst valued Generac based on Briggs and Stratton portable generator sales. But Generac's portable sales weren't good either. Generac's future is tied into automated standby generators-the bigger, more expensive kind that switch over automatically when street power is lost. And in a recovering housing market, where someone is dropping $300K + for a new home, adding a backup gen isn't an unreasonable cost. Oh, and GNRC just hit a 52 week high today.

News flash:More than 93,000 customers from Alabama to North Carolina have lost power as ice storm hits the region, officials say. What's that bunky, you just bought a Generac Home backup generator,? A Generac home backup generator senses a power outage, turns on automatically, and delivers backup power to your home. It will run until utility power returns - whether that's two hours or two weeks. Smart choice! And great stock, having a nice bump up today--and then tomorrow there's the quarterly report, and a nasty snowstorm coming to the northeast. Oh yea!

    Another downgrade:
In a report published Friday, Bank of America Merrill Lynch analyst Ross Gilardi downgraded Generac to Neutral from Buy, lowering its price target to $54.00 from $58.00.

According to the report, the downgrade is on the back of the analyst's quarterly dealer survey, along with yesterday's comments from competitor Briggs and Stratton. They continue to like the long-term penetration story for residential standby generators but see limited upside to consensus in FY14 barring severe new outage activity.

"We heard back from 29 standby generator dealers around the US. Assuming no major outages, the blended results suggest flattish order activity over the next six months, though we did see modest deterioration with only 34% projecting positive order growth versus 40% last quarter," the report noted. "About 40% projected flattish growth with 31% guiding to negative orders versus 28% last quarter."
