Arlington, Oregon: A Boeing Co. subsidiary is in talks to sell up to 150 military surveillance drones in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena), a company executive said on Thursday.
Boeing subsidiary Institu is engaged in “12 to 15 active pursuits” with countries in the Mena region, Institu Business Development Manager Mark Russell told reporters on a media visit to an Institu drone test site in Oregon.
A “pursuit” is a single unit usually consisting of six Institu ScanEagle surveillance drones and four Institu Interceptor drones. Russell declined to name the countries Institu is talking to.
Institu believes there is substantial interest in the Middle East for its ScaneEagle. Russell confirmed some regional militaries are already flying the drone but decline to say which countries ut Yemen, Iraq and Tunisia are reportedly using it. The unarmed drone can be fitted with different types of cameras and fly surveillance missions undetected as far as 75 kilometres from the control station and as high as 16,000 feet.

SAO PAULO, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Brazilian airline Gol Linhas Aereas is in advanced talks with Boeing Co regarding the possible addition of 737-900 jets to its fleet, the airline's chief executive told journalists on Thursday.
Last month CEO Paulo Kakinoff said Gol could trim its fleet of smaller 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft as it cuts capacity in Brazil, where a deepening recession and a weaker currency have triggered heavy losses.
"We've done extensive studies with Boeing about the possibility of getting the 900 series as well, maybe the MAX 9," said Kakinoff in a press briefing, without giving more details.

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., Sept 16 (Reuters) - Boeing Co on Wednesday said it had rejected an unsolicited bid from Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings Inc for United Launch Alliance, a 50-50 rocket launch venture of Boeing and Lockheed Martin Corp.
"The unsolicited proposal for ULA is not something we seriously entertained," Boeing spokesman Todd Blecher said.
Boeing said it remained committed "to ULA and its business, and to continued leadership in all aspects of space, as evidenced by the agreement announced last week with Blue Origin," a company owned by Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos that is designing the engine for a new rocket being designed by ULA.

As of the 14th BA has delivered 26 planes. 17 737's, 1 747, 6 777's, 3 787's.. Several more 747's are almost ready for delivery. By the weekend, we should see 7 787's ready for delivery.
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., Sept 15 (Reuters) - Boeing Co's first fully equipped KC-46A refueling plane is scheduled to complete its first flight on Sept. 25, the Air Force general in charge of tanker programs said Tuesday. Brigadier General Duke Richardson, executive officer for Air Force tanker programs, said the tanker program was doing well overall, despite earlier schedule delays.

Boeing has started assembly of the first 737 Max 8 on schedule at its narrowbody plant in Renton, Washington, the company announced Tuesday. After the first fuselage arrived on August 21 from Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, Kansas, mechanics began installing flight systems and insulation blankets. Crews next moved the fuselage to the wing-to-body join position on a new production line established in Renton. Mechanics then attached the wings to the body of the airplane.
It should be a great quarter for Boeing. Lots of deliveries and a very profitable mix.

Launched last March, the ABS-3A 702SP (small platform) satellite was formally handed over to its owner, Bermuda-based telecommunications company ABS, on August 31. It will provide communications services to the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
