Why did they pull their popular hovercraft commercials? It's been awhile but people could relate that to Orbitz. Good example is, what do you think will happen to Progressive if they pulled Flo or if Geico fired the gecco?

If Monrovia employees' performance is terrible overall as you say, then it is obvious there are folks not performing their duties well enough to deserve the salary they are already receiving. Divisions like Miltec, La Barge, and others probably have their low performers. Bonuses should be viewed as an "unexpected thank you" and not something that employees feel they deserve year after year for performing their assigned work! Exception are employees who went beyond their line of duty, for example created new business or a contract for the company, then the employee or employees who actually achieved it should be rewarded the bonus, but not everyone in the whole dam division year after year. Also, other compensation and possible elimination of excess management should be considered. Let's get the financials looking better again.

  • Anyone? In my opinion, if employees or managers are not happy with their salary, then they should not have been hired to begin with in my opinion. I would bet dollars to donuts that Yahoo is overstaffed and already oversalaried whether they give themselves bonuses or not. It just affects how hard of a rear-end screwing the shareholders get!!!!

  • Your annual performance is still an embarrassment comparing to what I paid for this stock years ago. You are a sympathy play for Google and need something that will stand out and make money.

GPGRENGO, I wouldn't buy this stock at $25. Might be better to sell, lick my wounds, and move on.

  • Im not sure if they still are doing this, but if any of Ducommun's sister companies gave bonuses, it's poor management and theft from the shareholders in my opinion!

Focus on company debt and recent healthcare insurance costs and fines before throwing money around these days. I'm not saying bonuses should not be given, but not in these times by any publicly traded company.

Companies should be using that money to invest in new technologies and resources for future growth and not add padding to employees' bank accounts.

    Sentiment: Hold

Its not going to be pretty. Most companies are feeling the brunt of healtcare insurance compliance, costs, fees, and whatever this year. Well-run companies like this one should weather through it but the rid eis going to be bumpy.

  • Cut levels of management and reduce political contributions to those who will likely vote against energy production. Cut back on the number of blended gasolines.

  • I don't see growth in defense industry for a long time. We can not take for granted that a republican or a conservative democrat will be in the the White House in 2016. (please not Hillary) This company has done a good job lowering overhead costs, especially cutting excessive management at many business units, but more to be done to stay competitive. So which defense stock has the best potential to grow if defense spending comes back to normal in a few years? Anyone?

At Alkatraz, there was one guard per 3 inmates. I don't think
the ratio of management per employees should be anywhere near
that high at any Ducommun division. Cut some overhead to be more
    competitive.

  • They have served our country well. It would seem that they are well disciplined.
I have the utmost respect for them.

In the recent months, I caught an employee making up stories about another
employee in my company. Was his motive possibly to gain more profitable routes? I will
never know for sure but I can not stand a foul mouthed liar working for me. He also
lacked in other areas of competency.

Sadly, he was retired military and I've noticed that veterans seem to have a common
pattern of disrespect for others. Or maybe I keep hiring the wrong ones )
I feel horrible having to let anyone go and it's also expensive to hire some one else to
replace his position. In the end it's wise to preserve morale than allow inethical behavior
    to persist.

  • Refer to the nypost website link to this story posted on drudgereport. First of all, why did they allow an impeached president swear in Mayor de Blasio? If Bill Clinton is guilty of theft, it would go well with the Cllintons stolen White House silverware collection. This is really an old Hollywood trick as to generate media controversy to get Ms Clintons name brought up more often in press coverage befoe the next election. The strategy is to do something stupid to get media attention. These people have got to be desperate to find a way into political limelight again after Ms Clinton was forced to resign from Sec of State for her role in allowing the gruesome torture and killing of 4 Americans in Benghazi. I am sure its only a matter of time until Yahoo posts this news on their homepage because whether Mr. Clinton stole the Bible or not, Yahoo could jump into the mainstream media bandwagon to help generate publicity for the Clintons.

  • Philip Chism, 14, was charged on Wednesday as an adult over the death of Colleen Ritzer, 24, whose body was found in woods behind the school.
The black student is suspected of slashing Colleen Ritzer's throat in the women's bathroom and carting her body in the trash bin on Oct 22. Police reviewed video surveillance records showing Chism pushing a trash bin through the halls of the school.

Refer to article in BBC or New York Daily News for more details.

Where is the outrage from Yahoo "news" about this racial killing? Doesn't fit Yahoo's race bating agenda as did Trayvon Martin?

  • Time is ticking away to reserve your own mandatory, high deductible insurance for $500 a month. Some Obama voter going to ask "What yo mean a $13,000 deductible?". Let me explain, that $13,000 is cash coming out of your pocket before you see any benefit from the $500 per month Obamacare insurance you will also be paying. 1800 318-2596

  • Over the past week, Saudi Arabia broke diplomatic ties with the USA over Obama's mishandling of the Syrian chemical weapon crisis which Vladmir Putin swooped in as the saviing angel who easily brokered a deal with Syria to resolve the problem on his own. So now we have a failure for a president who let the Russians take over influence in the Middle East. Yahoo "news" is totally silenr of course.

    Poor economic policy!

  • 16 million health plans are not grandfathered and must comply with Obamacare at their next renewal. The rules are very complex. For example, if you had an individual plan in March of 2010 when the law was passed and you only increased the deductible from $1,000 to $1,500 in the years since, your plan has lost its grandfather status and it will no longer be available to you when it would have renewed in 2014.

This is because the Obama administration's regulations on grandfathering existing were so stringent.

  • A 15 year old girl was beaten, thrown in front of a passing car, and rushed to the hospital for a collapsed lung. No race given by CBS so it's probably safe to assume the girl was white and the gang was black. Also Yahoo could care less because victim is not the right race (Like Traavon Martin) to be on thier homepage news for 2 weeks.

Speaking exclusively to CBS 3, a 15-year-old high school student, whose identity we are concealing, described a terrifying attack by a gang of at least nine teenage boys as she was leaving an Interboro High School football game Monday night. The teenage victim described first being taunted by the attackers, who followed her down a neighborhood street, cursing and spitting at her, before she was repeatedly kicked and punched, suffering at least one blow to her head.

“It was scary, just horrible, just the worst feeling in the world,” she said. “He punched me in my back and then kicked me in the back, and then punched me in the back of my head. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t move, I couldn’t talk. I was just straight crying.”

The victim says as at least two of the teenagers pummeled her, the others cheered them on shouting, “Come on, let’s get her!” At one point, the victim says, the gang tried to throw her under the wheels of a passing car, which swerved, narrowly missing her.
Rushed by her parents to Taylor Hospital, she was medevaced to Children’s Hospital where, her parents say, she was treated for a partially collapsed lung and other injuries. After being released 48 hours after the attack, she is now recovering at home as police move forward with their investigation.

  • No the whole thing needs scrapped. The government couldn't even get the website right, and Obamacare hasn't begun so could you imagine government being YOUR doctor in the near future? The cheapest Obamacare plans are expensive at $500 a month with $13,000 anunal deductible to pay out before you get any benefit from this government subsidized plan. On top of that, the government is raising taxes to pay for it. Pay for what? Where is all the money going? Yahoo "news" supports every tyrannical Democrat (communist) idea.

Of course they did GK. here's the logic of a Democrat: If they reject the House budgets and bills to curb spending, a situation is created where the government is forced to be funded by debt ceiling increases.

  • What is the deal with that?!

  • fishnman1973 fishnman1973 Oct 1, 2013 6:48 AM Flag

Defunding or repealing useless and destructive programs such as Obamacare (being the worst)
would avoid having to pass bill to raise the debt ceiling.

In fact, I think it's about time to hold the Senate's feet to the fire because they have been rejecting House budgets for the past 3 years. The Senate deliberately created debt spending situation.
No budget = no control in spending, wouldn’t you agree?

Also, republicans can’t get anything repealed when the lapdog Senate Democrats are blocking everything that does not fit their communist agenda.
