Not worthless, just overpriced. $299 with the controller or $249 without would have been more appropriate. The Xiaomi K1 tablet has the same specs and is under $250. The Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is always going on sale for $339 and it has a one inch larger screen. Nvidia has no name recognition outside of gamers and can't charge Apple and Samsung prices if they want anything more than niche sales from fanboys.
Smart enough not to vote for Obummer twice, watch MSNBC or read Huffington Post. You must be one of the beneficiaries of Obama's 'free' stuff to support that moron. Stupid is as stupid does.
Yes, leave discussion of world events in the very capable hands of the Obama administration. Once he finishes his round of golf of course. Gives him time to figure out how to blame Bush.
God no. If they were to buy another company it should be a competitor like Imagination or a complimentary business like Omnivision Tech.
"NVDA has learned the UPOD concept....under promise, over deliver" LMAO. Go read dear leaders quotes from CES about products shipping with K1. Only missed by a quarter, but at least they can claim they are less late than T4.
The buyout is from the same groups mentioned in the 8K from Feb. So they structured that transaction to give themselves a majority and therefore no shareholder vote on this transaction. Unethical but probably legal. I bet some of current management have connections with the acquiring companies. I'll file an SEC complaint but looks like the only recourse is a lawsuit.
I was underwater for 3 years. The CEO has blinders on with respect to Tegra. He wants to be the next Intel but he is no Andy Grove. GRID could be huge and that is where the focus should be as it offers margins in the thousands for each card sold instead of a few dollars per soc. It's possible Tegra will have another hit but could it be turned into a sustainable revenue stream. Doubtful given what we've seen so far.
OpenGL ES 3.0, the 3D graphics API in Android. Supported by Qualcomm, Imagination etc. Amazon is using a highly customized version of Android and it is highly unlikely they would switch from Qualcomm for any new device. Especially a phone since Tegra does not support Verizon, have Wi-Fi or GPS. A tablet from Google is more realistic if you want to engage in speculation.
Amen, my average price is below $10 per share. Listening to them I'd get hit with a tax bill in the tens of thousands to make pennies on options. No thanks.
Citrix has been doing this for 15+ years. GRID improves the user experience by accelerating desktop applications like Photoshop. It also allows you to run virtualized desktops at higher resolutions with increased performance. These are much needed improvements to VDI. The other big player in VDI is Microsoft so I'd like to see an announcement with them soon. They also do application virtualization so that expands on the VMware partnership.
That combination is 2 years away realistically with TSMC's process woes. GRID and the partnership with VMware will be making more money than Tegra by 2016. BYOD is the next big thing in corporate IT and GRID supports that paradigm perfectly.
The CEO said at the K1 announcement products would ship in late Q1 or early Q2. Mid way through Q2 and still nothing. This guy lies as much as Obama.
Cheerleading management is better when they obviously are throwing darts with respect to Tegra? That Icera purchase looks really smart. A $270 million goodwill impairment waiting to happen. Maybe when you are lost driving because it has no GPS your car can phone home for directions, unless you are a Verizon customer.
Sell one third and play with the houses money.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Dude, posting about memory prices on a stock board for a memory chip company. Are you crazy?! NAND schmand, just go to stocky girls website and you find out all you need to know about MU.
When the Tegra group lost the Nexus 7 and it's 5 million unit sales no one was fired. Incompetence is rewarded at NVidia.
All the options #$%$ is background noise. Business is good and stock price is low relative to peers. Only reason for me to sell is to pull out initial investment and play with the house's money. Only a few more dollars until I have that decision to make. :)
So fire the PR person but the CEO that claims product wins that never materialize should keep his job? K1 is on the exact same path as T4, over promise and under deliver. Earlier this year the CEO said K1 products would ship late first quarter and early second. Where are they?
