    AMZN is $447/shr

Barron advised us to buy CRA. I owned a ton of it. The one and only Internet Wack-Job who's advice I actually followed for a time.

The guy could not see why the company was ultimately doomed to fail (as I warned him repeatedly) however; who is going to argue with the tape while the company was all over the news as the greatest achievement in human history and would eventually allow Barron to grow a third set of teeth?

I make money when the making of money is good. I never worry about up or down and generally get past the third rung of the (financial) ladder.

Road trip to Cheeahs, San Diego? -- heeb

    ****
Im still #$%$ at myself for blowing-off that trip to Key West you and Fan invited me on (and later posted about your adventures with the co-eds)

I am going to be in Norway later this summer and believe I have a lay over in DC on the way back. Think Fan's wife will let him out of the house to have a few drinks with old friends this time?

You are the kind of guy that give me ulcers in markets like this. In my gut I "know" the market is too high and hold back huge sums of money waiting for that magical correction and then, I hear comments like this that make me begin to doubt my instincts.

It makes me crazy trying to figure out what to do. The first rule of thumb is NOT to lose money....

Damn the devil. Damn the devil to Hell......!!

" no one should buy the sort of stock that has no earnings, no revenues, no hope for earnings and revenues, a product that is of no value, and which keeps on having to bring in new CEOs. But this is just common sense. I can't imagine anyone who would actually invest in such a company, or even if such a company could possibly exist."- verm

It is hard to believe but, there exists a certain demographic that seriously wants to believe in unicorns and will actually devote huge sums of money to prove it.

Then there is the other demographic who are happy to take the money from the side that foolishly believes in the "story".

Well capt, that would be a short term extraordinary gain on my ebay purchase you agree I posted in real time.

LOCO on the other hand, is something I don't remember you mentioning buying in real time. If you cannot show us that post then; we all call B*ll S**it.

Mela down over 8 percent today?

Oh well.... look at the bright side; Ebay is up 7 percent today and I am sure that the capt followed my advice (about a year ago) to "back up the truck" and buy all he could.

Perhaps ol' Davie is going to come into a little money from Fred?

Guess Dave might finally have to start being financially responsible for his smashing some poor guy's head in with a beer bottle or while driving drunk, turning left into on-coming traffic and causing horrible car crashes. Perhaps even have to pay the police back for their expense coming out to look for him while he proudly hides in "spider holes"?

Verm asked the question of you capt; why did mela shell out a half a million dollars to Washington DC lobbyists?

What??? You don't have an opinion as to why or are you just afraid to answer the question ?

I was at KLAX just last night. I am down there all the time and have yet to see some guy in a Bozo costume with over sized shoes and a rubber bulb-honk toy in his hands walking around with four gold stripes on his shoulders.

Dont feel too badly about Plug Power. I thought I would cover all world lithium battery makers and benefit from the electric trend. Bought into SQM and have taken it in the shorts ever since. Fortunately, it was a test purchase and at my lowest level purchase block but still.......... irritates the hell out of me every time I review my portfolio program and see that red block on my screen

"Heah... perhaps they are working for themselves, using their position for a little side action pumping and bashing a stock. Know what I mean? Have anyone in mind?" -- capt

    ****************************************

Honestly Capt, I do not know what you mean. Do you want to nut-up, come right out, accuse and name someone engaging in this kind of illegal activity?

  • fncydansir fncydansir Apr 22, 2015 2:21 PM Flag

When have I EVER pointed to some analyst and recommended investors follow his lead? In fact, I have mentioned numerous times that analysts are employees working for a company pumping some stock and if they were really any good at picking stock winners, they would be wealthy and working for themselves.

Do you really not understand the basics of this business?

  • fncydansir fncydansir Apr 22, 2015 12:24 PM Flag

I would really like to know what "technicals" the author was referring to. Certainly not the technicals that matter when it comes to share appreciation and wealth accumulation. I have shown you many times over the years why the important technicals regarding the business plan and execution of it by mela management was horribly flawed and would either A: cost you your life's savings or B: make you wealthy if one played the game by the proper rules. You chose the A: lose your life's savings option.

Now.... it someone wishes to look at a stock "technicals" (PPS swings) in the rear view mirror and during a time when the stock was churned and burned by a penny stock pushing outfit as if this were "solid" performance; one needs to be very skeptical about the conclusions drawn because said conclusions would be tainted (to say the least).

Who is investing in what nowadays? I have a ton of cash just sitting there, doing nada. This market is so frothy that I am almost afraid to do anything with it at the moment.

    Ideas?

My son in law actually asked me that question a couple of years ago when Netflix popped to around $100.00. What should I do; he asked? Nobody ever went broke taking a profit; said I. He sold for a nice gain at the time. Yikes............

Thank goodness I also liked Chipotle or I would have never heard the end of this one from my daughter

"It took a half a million dollar bribe to push it through"?

    **************************************************************************

"Bribe"? Come on.... don't be so cynical. Perhaps this was just just part of President Obama's overall plan of "wealth distribution" ?

Obama probably saw this money just sitting around in Mela's coffers and decided that these assets would be better utilized if redistributed to Washington's lobbyists. The money would then be spent by the lobbyists taking Congressmen out to dinner, drinks and dance clubs. In this manner; hard working, salt of the earth Americans such as bartenders, waiters and strippers would benefit and the country is stronger because of it !!

Admit it. The American economy is much improved since the time Mela hired these lobbyists to push the FDA approval through. I think Obama's plan must have worked and we are all the better for it !!
