This investment appeals to the "green" in all of us, but has been a very disappointing investment. Their excessive front-end fees a poor performance over the past year are a signal to those thinking of investing. These folks play on your environmental greeness and then sit back a slowly eat away at your hard earned dollars. Invest at your own risk. I got burnt...you don't have to!

  • So how safe is your GLD investment? I would think this poses "what if" scenarios that GLD should have answers for. For instance are they insured? Who are they regulated by? Who is auditing them to assure the "real" gold assets exist? Isn't it safer to store your own gold, rather than take a promissory note to pay you? When you cash your GLD shares in you still have a devalued currency to show for your profits or losses, don’t you?

Queen Carly sits on her big, fat ass and tells the unemployed technology workers to "eat cake" when they asks for a job.

She will not be happy until the American worker is working in a sweat shop for sweat shop wages. This spoiled, priviledged bitch has never served anyone but herself. Like GW, she caters only to her rich buddies and a moneyed oligarchy.

Queen Carly has forgotten that it was the hardworking, well educated American worker that put her fat ass where it is today.

Now Folks, I'm just a local yokel who doesn't know much about the stock market and all. But people say I know a lot about people and common sense. You see people is all worried about the stock market being down, the job market nonexistant, energy gone through the roof, and crooks ripping of widows, orphans, stockholders, pensioners, and employees.

Now it don't take an Einstein to see that unless we start to send some of these crooks to jail; come up with an energy independence program; put people first instead of profits; stop sending our jobs overseas; seal the borders; then we aren't going to be around very long as a democracy.

You see once you loose you energy sources, you soon loose your economic forces, and finally just to eat or keep warm you'll give up you personal freedoms.

Now I know it all sounds like a great big conspiracy on the part of big business and big energy... and guess what, it is!!! You see fat cats look at us as a nation of sheep, and we a slowly but surely being lead to the slaughter.

Meanwhile, Ken Lay, Bernie Ebbers, Dennis Kozlowski, et al. are hoping Georgie Boy keeps us all focus on the "boggieman" and the War in Iraq, while they get off with a slap on the hand.

Like I said I'm just a local yokel, but them there seems to be a lot of us coming to the surface lately.

Mama use to say, "What if the United States were to develop a hydrogen fuel cell for automobiles and home heating that would virtually eliminate the need for oil? What if we passed legistlation that would mandate that solar cells be placed on every roof of every new office building, factory, and home? What if wind and wave energy were harnessed to produce a non pollutant energy source?"

Mama use to say, "Why isn't GW Bush talking about these solutions, "Energy Independence" and the jobs it would create; instead of sending our young men and women off to fight a war for "BIG OIL"?

My Mama use to say, "Clean up your own room, Forest, before tell somebody to clean up their own!"

Now it seems to me GW Bush is trying to clean up Iraq, before he cleans up his own messes.

What I mean to say is that we need an "Energy Independence" plan based on investing in and exploiting alternative energy sources, before we go off and fight an Oil War in Iraq. If we had a plan maybe we can tell those folks they can take their oil an shove it, and not one American would die for "BIG OIL".

It seems, however, that US "BIG OIL" interests has every Republican and Democrat in their pocket. That's why we are going to send our young men and women into battle to once again secure the interests of "BIG OIL".

Its ironic, you know, just think of all the billions of dollars that will be spent on bombing Iraq, when it could be spent on developing wind power, solar energy, hydrogen fuel cells, and more fuel efficent vehicles.

But you see "BIG OIL" doesn't want that, because they can't control the wind, the sun, hydrogen production, or CAFE standards as easily as they can our "elected" officials.

Mama use to say, "Oil is like any other illegal drug. The addicts are you and I, the pushers are "Big Oil", and the government can't do a damn thing about either because they're all being paid off."

Think about that the next time you fill up at the gas station and the young American who will die for the greasy, slimy, interests of "BIG OIL".

"Its about energy, stupid! Energy has always been the basis for any economy, stupid!"

Yep being "President" is goooooood!, as Dad used to say. I can start wars, throw the economy into a death spiral, crash the stock market, create deficits, unemploy millions of workers, take the price of oil to $50.00 a barrel for Dick and the boys, and for an encore I can even invoke the Taft Hartley Act aganst those "commie" dock workers who don't want to be obsoleted by technology. The nerve of those people!

But you ain't seen nothing yet... If the UN doesn't go along with me, I a gonna send thousands of our troops to take care of that "evildoer" Sadam Hussain. I'll show the world that I can be their "President" too!

Yep, being "President" is alright! Don't you think?

Do you ever get the feeling I'm just playing at being "President"? Do you ever notice how good I look when I strut across the stage to my "Presidential Podium" or when I amble toward the "Presidential Helicopter" with Laura and the dog?

You may ask, why we are going to war with Iraq? Simply put, I believe the war will solve our impending energy crisis, crumbling economy, spiriling unemployment, unethical business practices, and souring health costs.

First, I'll solve the unemployment problem by reconstituting the draft. This will mean more jobs, a boost in the economy, and less unemployment due to the projected deaths on the field of battle by are brave soldiers.

Second, to solve the business ethics crisis I will draft and put corporate CEOs, COOs, CFOs, etc in the front lines, thus ensuring their earliest demise.

Third, I will solve the energy crisis by nationalizing Iraq's oil fields when we capture them. After all, we showed them where the oil was in the first place and how to extract it.

Fourth, I will solve the health crisis by drafting all the baby boomers into our chemical arms disposal service, without gas masks.

My fellow Americans, I have run this plan by my father, GHB. He says it should work, and he ought to know. I ask for your support in our hour of need. Remember, we don't need no stinkin' UN to tell us when and where to go to war!

Thank you, good night, and God bless the United States of America.

    GWB

Hey Dad, is this a plan or what?

    No thanks necessary.

I don't know why you are so peeved at me though. You knew that us Bushes have a habit of screwing things up. Just look at what Dad did when he was in office. All I'm doin' is following his lead.

So chill out, will you? I've alway said what this country needs is a good depression to level the playing field, and curtail all the "irrational exuberance".

Just wait til tonight's speech, though, if you really want to see the market really tank. I can damn guarantee you the depression of the 30's will look like a mild recession when I'm done.

Then when things are really depressed, me and my well-heeled buddies, who cashed out long ago, will walk in and bargin shop all the way to the bank.

What you obviously don't appreciate is the rule that says the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Try to remember your place, will you? You are just some workin' class stiff who is along for the ride. You are not supposed to get rich.

So stop you bitchin', just pay your taxes, oil bills, shut the hell up, be part of the silent majority, and let me do what is best for the nation. Remember I was elected to this office by the Supreme Court of the United States, not by the voters.

    Isn't that right, Dad?

    Regards,

    GW

    Dear Daddy,

Did you see this last reply? They're calling me, your son, a "liberal" and "garbage"!!!

What do you think of that? All I'm trying to do is emulate your term in office by taking the economy down the crapper and going to war with Sadam.

I know you'll be proud of me Dad, like father like son, you know! Only when I'm done oil will be $50.00 a barrel, unemployment at 15%, and like President Hoover, I'll lead America into another great depression.

Don't forget to catch my speech tonight, Dad. It'll be a real doozy!

    Love,

    GW

  • Well, Dad, everything is just about set. Iraq and the economy will blow up just about the same time. Just think what a hero I'll be though when I turn it all around!

Course when people blame me for screwing up, and start asking why they are not better off now than four years ago, I'll just blame it on Clinton and his screwing around with the help.

    Now that's a plan, huh?

No, my friend, it will not be "over" until...

    1. The United States has an energy independence policy that weans itself from the OPEC oil tit, and focuses on alternative energy technologies.
    2. We see crooks like Ken Lay, Fastow,et al. not just indited, but behind bars.
    3. There is affordable health and drug insurance that protects our aging population.
    4. Until our borders are closed to illegal aliens, and our immigration laws protect and work for Americans.
    5. Israel and Palestine are separate states, recognized and protected by the United Nations.
    6. We elect politicians who are accountable to the people and not the special interests of big corporations, their money, and their lobbyists.
    7. We rid the world of terrorists who would destroy our last, best chance for democracy.

But don't worry, the chances of Jesus Christ coming to earth before all this will happens are far greated.

    Dear Dad,

It looks like my letter to you started a real dunnybrook. Maybe that's the answer. If I can just keep all these folks distracted long enough, I may be able to get re-elected in 2004!

Just think, by going to war with Sadam it might distract them from the fact that the economy is in the dumps, oil will be soon be $50.00 a barrel, health care and drug cost are outa sight, umemployment is at an all time high, the stock market is at an all time low, and we still don't have an energy policy that will wean us from the OPEC oil tit! Good for you,me, and Dick, huh?

Now is that a plan or what? You're right, Dad! Who needs that vision thing, anyway?

    Love,

    GW

P.S. Dick says to say, Hi!

    Dad,

I saw that "red" button, Dad, but one of my Secret Service guys said it was only to be used when the Russians attacked.

I got that "Shawshank" tape from Blockbusters though. However, my DVD player doesn't seem to accept it. One my Secret Service guys, is workin' on it, though. I promise to watch it tonight.

Dad, I've been thinkin'!!! I think I need a "vision". You know that was the "thing" they said you were missing, and the reason you lost your re-election.

What do you think? What should my vision thing be?

    Love,

    Dad,

Everything seems to be falling into the crapper. I've tried to focus the nation on the "war", but everybody keeps bringing up the economy, health care, energy independence, and corporate ethics.

They say that until they see Ken Lay, Fastow, Skilling, et al. in jail they won't believe I am serious about corporate corruption!

They say that until I have an energy policy that weans us from the "oil tit", then going to war with Sadam is ridiculous!

They say that they are getting older and that health care is eating away their life savings!

They keep on telling me "its the economy, and calling me stupid!

Dad, you gotta help me. I sure don't want to be a one term wonder, like you, but it sure looks like with all the layoffs, stock losses, and bankruptcies, I'm going to be in real trouble pretty soon.

    What do you suggest, Dad?

    Love,
    GW
