lol , yeah my " lack of integrity " sent your $100 stock back to $2.70 .
Galaxy Glass? Samsung patents what looks like a wearable augmented reality rival to Google Glass
Every time we cover something like this (which is a lot. An awful lot) we issue frequent reminders, as much to ourselves as to you the reader, that patents are not concrete products. They are ethereal catch-alls filed by megacorporations with little discrepancy, in a ‘better safe than sorry’ mindset. But with that said… it’s hard not to get a little excited, or at least intrigued, by this latest discovery.
Samsung has patented what fairly unambiguously appears to be an augmented-reality headset – its own take on Google Glass. The depicted device certainly looks familiar – designed to be worn on the side of the head, it features a small, clear heads-up-display which protrudes to around the front of the wearer’s right eye. Rather than sit over the wearer’s ears like a pair of glasses, this design resembles a bluetooth headset as it sits around and inside the ear. This opens up a world of possibilities for audio feedback, such as prompts, notifications, or even music playback.
Sadly there’s not a lot else we can discern from the device at this point. We translated the Korean text which accompanies the patent’s images, but they don’t reveal any sort of technical specifications. If the rumours of a late 2014 release are true though, we’re sure to hear more about it soon.
That's true , but the GG hype is what sent them to $16 . They have been dropping ever since the BofA downgrade . I would have thought the one day sale of GG tomorrow would have been enough to stop the sell off as well as the up market today .
High brightness will allow direct emission . Projection optics & micro display will allow a profile of less than 24 mm - .944 inches
Fraunhofer made a pico projector using an OLED microdisplay in 2009 . They state that it wouldn't be feasible until high brightness displays were available.
" For micro projection applications, high brightness (at least 10,000 nits) is one of the most important target parameters."
So if they can project on a wall they could project inside a an oclulus style HMD IMO .
I have some links and discussion about the pico projection application at OLED-info under :
Will high brigtness enable pico projection & more ?
"Anybody got a device with a micro OLED inside?"
If your talking consumer products , there is the Zeiss Cinemizer OLED and the Sony HMX-T3W .
Oh i don't know Sweet . I'm beginning to think there is a lot of bluffing going on . VUZI M100 was originally going to be a consumer product @ $500 . VUZI quickly saw how easily the unit could be bricked when loading new software & changed their strategy to the Business customer at $1,000 per unit . HIMX recently got a downgrade because analysts expect the consumer GG to be delayed till 2015 . Now GG is announcing a push into the Business market as well .
HIMX was also bragging when the GG deal happened about how they could ramp LCOS production to gazillion of units lickety- spit . Yeah sure .
I was doing a little snooping on the Fraunhofer COMMED site - nothin' . MicroOLED site - nothin' . Remember the announcement last year that Google was going to go with Samsung OLED ? We'll Samsung had a OLED miscrodisplay prototype but probably found out that mass producing them is a lot harder than making a few in the lab .
Even the FB Oculus deal isn't expected to get units to the market any time soon .
Nothing but SDK's
Where is the Apple & Microsoft products ?
Lots of B & S if you want my opinion .
I think the companies are finding the consumer market harder to crack than they first thought & are upping their game to the Business customer . They are pushing up to meet us .
I think a higher end business GG unit with EMAN OLED high brightness display would be just what the doctor ordered . They could slowly ramp production to coincide with our production . They could charge premium a professional business model which could be written off in most cases . Longer battery life , smaller profile , better display .
Maybe a higher end unit with OLED ?
At Google , bid to put its Glasses to work
Aiming at this market, Google is announcing on Tuesday a Glass for Work program to provide additional tools for business users, like tech support, and to explore how to sell Glass to more of them.
It will not necessarily be an easy sell. The privacy concerns about Glass could be an even bigger issue in certain work settings, said Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center. Consider meetings in which sensitive information is exchanged, for example, with a doctor or financial adviser.
Yet in many cases, he said, there are fewer privacy concerns about Glass in the workplace.
"I can think of a whole bunch of professions where Google Glass makes a lot of sense and poses almost no privacy risk at all and could be really valuable — everything from engineering to car repair to architecture to lumberjacking," Mr. Rotenberg said. "But what's interesting about all of those professions is that you're not actually interacting with a customer."
LOL Market doesn't even know about VUZI . They are down on their own accord.
What a joke they can't produce a 10K after 90 days and a week . I'm sure they will need the full 15 days . This will allow warrant holders more time convert & dump dump their shares .
What an amateurs you are . One day you may learn how the game is played .
