Missed this from the GF story :
Then, in a few years, “we hope to be able to leverage FD-SOI’s super low-power strategy for wearables and other products, whose volume will start to emerge by then,” Teepe explained.
I'll try ;
EMAN is developing a new backplane - SOI - a "new OLED architecture" .
GF's new SOI process will make the wafers that the new EMAN OLED's will be built upon .
GF's new wafers will offer high performance at a low price .
30% power saving will be realized according to EMAN PR on the new backplane .
I believe we will be able to make displays smaller but I haven't quite verified this yet.
It means this path has been worked on for some time in order for us to have worked out the tech , got a patent , and got an R&D grant coinciding with GF's developments .
The timing does't look like a coincidence so I believe EMAN must have ben working with GF on this for some time .
1. eMagin Awarded R&D Contract to Develop Advanced Backplane Technology
2. EMAN patent 8975832 describes the invention of a new SOI backplane:
The SOI substrate, or silicon wafer herein also referred to as a backplane, is unique in that the silicon junction is above the electrical insulator.
The OLED display of the present invention utilizes a new OLED architecture with multiple units stacked in sequence with intermediate electrodes electrically connected through vias.
3. GlobalFoundries’ FD-SOI Revolution - Junko Yoshida
He said, “We are developing 22nm FD-SOI process technology right now.” The plan is to qualify the process by early 2016 and start volume production by the end of 2016. Asked about what the company’s 22nm FD-SOI process entails, Teepe explained, “We are using STMicroelectronics’ 14nm FD-SOI in our frontend, while using 28nm FD-SOI in the backend.”
GlobalFoundries appears to believe that their initial FD-SOI customers will be designers of big volume SoCs. While those customers need to push the performance of their SoCs, what they really need is a “good price,” said Teepe. The promise of GlobalFoundries’ 22nm FD-SOI solution, he concluded, is to offer his customers “almost 14nm FinFET performance at almost 28nm cost.”
EMAN is developing a new SOI backplane which coincides with Global Foundries new volume FD-SOI process .

VUZI hasn't announced when they are reporting .
Pretty sad you can't even do the most basic of DD .
lol your not a fly on the wall at Corporate
you don't know what the current cash situation is or the needs for additional financing
Post an Income Statement & Balance Sheet with your predictions for 4Q .
"I would sure like to hear Traver's state that he won't be selling any of these shares or less than $10. Do you think he will in the conference call?"
I doubt Travers makes a statement about that on the CC .
I doubt Travers will give much info other than boiler plate at the CC .
See SEC filings .
I'm guessing Travers won't sell any shares for less than $10 . Plenty want in .
Wouldn't want to be out or short when it goes down .
After close today ? In a month? 6 months ?
Sell & move on puppiepoop
BTW Registration is in Effect - we'll see if Travers pull off a 1million share sale @ $10 . Many want in & Travers may give someone chance .
He mentioned a Ted talk in Seattle on Feb 17 . Couldn't find a schedule but it's $1,700 to attend & $500 for web stream .
Surreal , it looks like the M300 has to be purchased at "For the $1,499 retail price " - no discount - to get the deal .
BOM for Google glass was estimated at less than $200 . Assuming Vuzix is at $250/unit thats $500 cost for 2 units .
$1,500 - $500 = $1,000 profit
I don't see it as giving product away , but as a clever strategy to get customers to lock in now instead of waiting for the M300 to become available and possibly going with a competitor such as Google Glass .
I don't know how they will book the transaction , but I would imagine they would split it . Some when the M100 is shipped and the rest when the M300 is shipped . I'm sure the will follow Generally Accepted Accounting Practices for the transaction .
Yes , what did I miss ?
Building won't get built till the business (volume) is there .
In other words , business isn't there yet so building is not being built .
In addition , they really don't know when the business will be there to justify the building .
Their customers (30+) can't currently give them enough indication as to when volume will justify a building expansion .
But, we're optimistic and we can show you the lot .
