    Countdown initiated, I'm here blackmarango. Best to all who support cancer research with their life investments.

    End2 and BlackM, such manly men should realize that all that testosterone wasted on chest thumping and angry words could utilized for much more pleasurable activity. Wink ;)

    Is this really KFX or Evergreen again?

    Maybe I’m naive but I have the same sense of wonder and an anticipation of greatness waiting for the new ASH abstract as I did when as a child when watching the takeoff of the Apollo 11 lunar mission. Reversing blood cancer and bone marrow fibrosis will not only inspire Geron investors but also the entire medical world. There are many ways to show people great possibilities of the future, but I'd argue that a reversal of a certain death sentence by cancer is more powerful than any other single source of inspiration.

    Jakafi Spin

    by frhornwoman Oct 1, 2014 9:55 PM

    "Leave it to Beaver" haha to find medical proof. I had to look up moderate to severe thrombocytopenia but that means very low platelets and Anemia means low red blood cells. If all Jakafi does is shrink a spleen that expanded to produce blood cells what did they expect??

    After a short time the users got the message as 92% said stop the Jakafi!

    Then these poor people were hit with Jakafi withdrawal syndrome which they say lead to a septic shock-like syndrome. That's NOT good!

    I say FDA release the Geron hold so there can be an alternative to a medicine that I think should be named #$%$-B-A-R rather than Jakafi.

    OK been looking at Myelofibrosis and it is characterized by bone marrow fibrosis or the replacement of the marrow with collagenous connective tissue fibers impairing the patient's ability to generate new blood cells.

    Now because Myelofibrosis stops the normal production of blood cells in bone marrow the body tries to compensate and goes to some other organs that when we were fetuses also produced red blood cells namely the spleen and then the liver.

    As a consequence of the spleen now having to make red blood cells it becomes massively enlarged and that term is Splenomegaly.

    INCY’s Jakafi reportedly works by reducing the size and hence the discomfort associated by splenomegaly. My question is if Jakafi reduces spleen size ONLY is it not also reducing the effectiveness of the spleen’s new role as red blood cell maker? I mean, Jakafi doesn’t reverse bone marrow fibrosis so there is no bone marrow to make red blood cells and if the spleen goes back to normal size and maybe is not producing as many of these red blood cells anymore then how is that helping the patient except by reducing the discomfort caused by a large distorted spleen.

    Here take this you will feel better (until the end) just does not make it in my book.

    From what I read Imetelstat is the only disease reversing agent (CR & PR) out there that also reverses blood marrow fibrosis so the spleen can go back to normal size because the repaired bone marrow can now take over make blood again.

    I’m not a medical type but Jakafi just doesn’t make sense no matter how they spin it.

    Thanks all for the technical help. Hoping Imetelstat will trounce myelofibrosis.

    I play french horn for a living and am not a biochemist or whatever. If you are going to use all these acronyms help me and others out by defining them first. Even googling GMC and SOC come up blank. Other than that great post. (GP)

    MDS = myelodysplastic syndromes also known as myelodysplasia
    DLT = Dose Limiting Toxicity

    ET = Essential thrombocythaemia
    MF = Myelofibrosis

    GMB ?
    SOC ?

    Feel the heat?

    Yes my post was made entirely on uninformed opinion, wildly inaccurate speculation and blatant conjecture. No attempt was made to verify the, ahem, “evidence” I am presenting here, nor were any outside sources contacted for this post. In my defense, absolutely no facts were harmed or abused in the making of the above "feel the heat" post..

    Upward movement might mean the FDA iceberg is starting to melt.

    Geron investors have excellent reasons for burn out and pessimism based on all of the mistakes of the past.

    Imetelstat Myelofibrosis treatment by Mayo’s Dr. Tefferi and the recent Dr. Gupta research showing that simultaneous inhibition of p21 and telomerase synergistically suppresses tumor growth makes Geron Imetelstat a very HOT commodity.

    I think most investors don’t get it yet but we DO. !!!

    The new KFX is KOFAX....although I would not be surprised if the same scub of the old KFX has floated to the top of the toilet and is scamming again.

  • frhornwoman by frhornwoman Aug 27, 2014 11:06 AM Flag

    KFX was a symbol for a useless coal process that was a hyped up POS. Now the KFX stock symbol arises from the ashes and touts it's a leading provider of smart process applications for the business critical First Mile of customer interactions. That descriptor sounds like a ton of horse sheet. Run while you can.
