I agree that NTPN is the logical double from here valuation wise but think AAOI will get there first.
bets on...funny is I hope you are right from a % gain perspective.
seems as though retail sales are also driving the price given the commentary on the board. People selling as institutions accumulate amplifies the upward movement which we know all too well.
Great to have a huge position where you are happy either way (if it goes down, chance to re-load).
Happy trading and another great day for NPTN.
I think we are now staring at a price that makes the pre-earnings release SP seem like that Black Friday special. Knew it was coming but not this quick as the tape has this trading at 7+
funny things is that the 1x p/s benchmark I pegged was a low-ball and a richer valuation is a matter of just expected execution and time.
Congrats on your trade and good luck in your future investments...
That being said, I cannot understand for the life of me why someone who had a 50k position would let it all go during this transformational phase of the company. The only reason that it could be justified is that you either dont believe the trend is sustainable (not stock price but company's fundamental momentum), you are still at or near your average purchase price (havent made a profit) or just flat out need the cash...
Here are just a few reasons why...
1) Your (and my) expectations and history with the stock is much different than the new money entering. We are used to a depressed stock price and the last close is a dream come true percentage wise from where its been. The new money's perspective is just starting and has much higher expectations from a stock price which is much higher than what it has traded in....
2) This company reminds me of CAMP, a company I bought years ago at
Bottom line, if you held a small position and made a nice profit and sold out, no issue. But with such a large position bought at the near bottom and minimal risk just to hold even 10% (5k shares) I do not understand why not wait out for the potential real gains with a fraction of your holdings. The ability to time the market and rebuy is not certain, in fact NPTN held up very well given the overall market performance this past week (volume is still above average and volume preceeds price).
I also dont think the other investments are any better than NPTN - grass is not greener on the other side.
Curious to hear your thought process as I held a large position, still hold 50% and plan to rebuy if it dips. I did a lot of research on the company and the sector in the past 6-9 months and want to get paid for it!!!!
if an institution wants in, forget about it
that means if rdcm can just continue to execute, it will continue to be overvalued just based on supply / demand.
If they beat/raise forget about it because the supply will be tapped to fulfill demand from the institutions.
I know many ppl (usually senseless bashers) claim that Chen is an idiot, cannot speak in public and is not a pedigree CEO, but they don't know the guy.
He is a sharp business man who understands what it takes to run a company based on the phase that it is in. He is an UPOD type that will not show all his cards and has a plan, although ppl throw darts at his ability to speak. Many ppl that are familiar with Asian leadership know that their speak is rough around the edges but their internal intellect is highly regarded and unique...
Chen took over this company when it was in absolute shambles, deteriorating brand and on a trajectory where the only exit strategy was fire sale. He was able to focus on the core niche and stabilize the company, setting itself up for the next evolution which people are finding hard to understand.
On Friday he was asked about the share price and how the market is giving no respect from an asset to overall valuation perspective....he responded by clarifying that the company has $1.4 B in debt in addition to the huge cash stash downplaying any perceived value. I like the guy and the way he operates.
It is hard to find a turnaround play like bbry where the value at today's closing price is hard to see but if you look close and look toward the future of where Chen is taking it, you would be like me who initiated a 10k share purchase today after being on the sidelines for almost a year. In my mind he delivered results that would not have been expected when the malaise was occurring and the stock trades at a near all time low when the market values growth and certainty. I expect no less than $25 for my shares in the next 18 months...
do your DD but it must be creative and forward thinking to open up to bbry at this time.
Chen's first motion was to stop the bleeding, which meant make the operation cash flow positive and retain the valuable cash. That focus was 70% of the effort.
Now the effort will focus on the flip side which is revenue generation in the right niche area so that effort will lead to results as Chen has proved himself capable of resolving this issue.
Despite moderate volume compared to previous days and especially after the runnup, NPTN is showing strong resilience and basing off the highs.
This means despite heavy accumulation both Institution and retail investors are not letting this thing go. What this means that the stock is strong and unless the following happens, we should rise:
1) NPTN warns
2) Global economy falls apart
3) Volume dries up considerably - below 250k share daily volume
Those (3) factors would affect ANY stock negatively so it tells me there are vvery few better stock options I would rather hold and potentially accumulate than NPTN
another day of low volume yet the price bounces right back in a down market. Those hoping for lower prices may be disappointed as this thing looks strong
looks like (4) needs to be added where price walks down on decent volume. In this case, need to assess technicals on repurchase points.
