Biotechs are on fire right now and Wall Street cant get enough of them and then you have NKTR ...that isues more shares and misses revenues and earnings by a considerable amount. I saw someone post that NKTR would get royalties of 2 to 3 per cent if a certain drug was apporoved is it even worthit for shareholders to wait for years for a drug to get approval and then get 3 per cent income stream from a new drug big mistake buying this stcok it looks like down big time after hours too...

This stock reminds me of ISIS Pharmacueticals 15 years ago. Lotsof potential but they need to get something approved.. ISIS went years without a major drug getting aprroved and is just now bringing major drugs to the marker and starting to got share appreication that many thought would happen long ago. Another bio tech i owned was Incyte INCY I bought at 17 and sold at 25 the stock is now at 65 all this in the last year. INCY has about 150 million in sales and the market cap is 10 billion i read an article from Goldman Sachs that said INCY was fully valued at 25 a share so i sold .. big mistake Can you Imagine what how much NKTR would be valued at if their non narcotic drug for pain was approved ??? If a dr had the choice of prescribing a pain killer that wasnt addictive vs a drug like oxycotin.. what do you think they would choose to prescribe.. I dont know enough about the science to kno if NKTR pain candidate would compete with the major pain killers but see the potental of NKTR if the drugs in the pipeline can get approved but approvals can take years and years

Ive watched MLP's over the last year and many are down since going public. it seems the market goes up every day so I'm curious why this stock hasnt done better in this market? I like this stock and would like to get in for the dividend. What is the downside? Its a profitable company and seems to have a niche business The only thing I see that is questionable is the debt load.. Im thinking about buying a few shares tomorrow any feed back would be much appreciated..

as to what shareholders will receive. Ive heard we will get 17 dollars in cash and ive read 5 dollars in cash will be distributed. Some say its worth 45 dollars a share others say there will be a reverse split . One thing that is clear is the big banks made a fortune as did Management...

it still isn't clear to me either. we may not see much of an increase in the share price since they were anticipating the buyout. in I think some people were surprised by the price paid by VZ. VOD was up 3% monday in London.I guess if we get a special dividend that will cause share price to drop.

since you are a long time holder can you tell me this? does it take 10 shares of VOD in the USA to equal 1 share of VOD on the London market? if so does that mean if VOD is paying out 10 dollars to shareholders then the stock in USA will only get 1 dollar? thanks

  • gatsbyrising gatsbyrising Sep 2, 2013 1:51 PM Flag

sounds like shareholders will get shares of VZ also ??????

according to one article I read the money could be used for a special div.. another article said the money would be used for a stock buyback ..The article also said VOD shareholders went without a dividend for many years while Verizon used cash to to build out network..

  • gatsbyrising by gatsbyrising Sep 1, 2013 10:39 PM Flag

According to Yahoo Apple currently has 42 Billion in cash. VOD is sitting in the catbird seat and hopefully shareholders are too with 130 Billion cash on hand if the deal goes through...It Will be interesting to see where it opens on Tuesday.. Any thoughts?

    An incremental + for INCY

The main reason I am still holding is the possible approval of the RA drug without it this stock gets cut in half from here Im afraid . Does anyone know a possible date for approval? Ive watched a lot of bio techs over the years and some never get a drug approved. So INCY is one up up on a lot of bio techs..

Morgan Stanley must not think much of the upcoming drug in phase 3 trials for RA? There is no doubt this stock can be maniputlaed tho its the prefect size company to be manipulated. I would thnk there would be a huge market for a successful RA drug that improves lives and has few side effects .. what am i missing here? what does morgan stanley kno that we dont kno does anyone know the reasoins behind the downgrade did they give numers or predictioms on how sales would disappoint?

I like this company and had broker on phone to buy it but one thing he brought up was the debt. yahoo shows they have a lot of cash i would think a startup biotech usually has a lot of debt. the current drug on the market is generating revenues alot of bio techa out there that have no drugs so a big plus IMO pretty large market cap too but not that matters in todays markets any thoughts? maybe all stock are over priced in current economy

I stumbled on to this stock recently. It looks solid to me, the kind of stock you would add to an IRA but after looking at a chart for the last 10 years it sure has been a long fall to get to this point so the company must have problems some where ?scandles? high debt? most utilities have done well over the last 4 years i would bet management pays themselves well tho so Im still undecided on this one i agree with crazy valuations so many stocks have quadrupled in price since 09 and some have gone up 10X and it kind of makes you wonder? Several companies during the last round of earnings reports missed earnings mcds dupont apple IBM and more but the market stays strong and goes higher its all about Bernacke at this point the only thing the stock market reflects IMO is its costing a lot more to live these days prices of stocks and commodites rise in price and we all are paying more but wages and job growth flat at best

    Any drugs in the Pipeline?

thanks for the input. its a hard to know what to do? on one side you have people that are knowledgable and think the company will get by this speed bump and go much higher and the other side are the shorts who would like to push it down further ive seen shorts get control of a company and keep it down for years Look at the volitatility of OVTI a stock I owned several years ago a company this size is the right size company for the shorts to take control of also

  • gatsbyrising by gatsbyrising Dec 8, 2012 3:18 PM Flag

So much is made of future drugs in the pipeline for drug stocks but Yahoo doesnt mention any new drugs or upcoming trials. I like the company but they will need more drugs to keep growing???

considering the hot weather this area had over the last few months im not that impressed with earnings. if it wasn't for the rate hikes approved by the government i would hate to think what earnings might have been. im a shareholder but think its more about the gov choosing what businesses thrive than anything else

They are in charge so they can pay themselves as they please at share holders expense. Im a shareholder and customer and if weren't for the 15% and 20% increases approved by the state over the last few years WR wouldn't be flying quite so high its not about running a better utility but getting the state to approve double digit increases every year even when demand is down. Since 2009 his stock has almost doubled

  • Looks good.... low nat gas prices help profits would be nice if they had more than one plant tho? does anyone know what the dividend really is? from reading the board it sounds like its not 20% but still a nice payer? thanks

I think the reason CNBC talks about Fb all day long is they don't want to talk about whats really driving down the markets and that would be Europe and the fact things aren't near as rosy as what the goverment or media lets on

it isn't all smoke and mirrors the company projects earnings next year of 18 to 20 million i think they said in quarterly report. some people are blaming shorts for the drop today but only a small per cent of the float is shorted according to yahoo
